I use live UK train tracking apps. RealTimeTrains, OpenTrainTimes and Traksy are some examples. I get my phone camera ready a few minutes before the train is due to pass a crossing.
I adore signal boxes, crossing keeper cottages and the occasional abandoned station near the crossing.
