- From "The Sensual World" (1989) to "The Director's Cut" (2010), a dialogue between two Kate Bush... I mixed the two versions of the song to make my own new 14 minutes version of it.

I remember the first time I heard this song, I was in the car and wearing headphones. Then I really believed that there was a church with bells somewhere nearby and began to look around. I absolutely adore this song with all my soul. The top reasons to stay alive are Kate's songs, it's just something incredible, she has no equal, she doesn't fit into any category.MMMMMMMMMMM YEEEEES STEPPING OUT OF THE PAGE INTO THE SENSUAL WORLD.MINE.
Im 16 now, i started to listen her at 14. All my friends say that Kate's songs are not their type, BUT OMG HOWWWW.Although I am pleased that I am the only one, I am special because I love my beloved Kate Bush, I am so proud of it.I know that she is very secretive, I would really like to get to know her not only as an amazing singer, but also as a person. I always think, I wonder how Kate would react to this, or, for example, to this, etc.What is it like to communicate with her, what is her character like in the company of close people, what are her habits. I remember how I dreamed about how I was lying on her lap... it was one such dream, Kate, please dream about me more often, I love you with all my soul, I adore you beyond belief, my whole wall is covered in your posters. How good it is that I live in the same world with you, my soul.
I also absolutely love Kate Bush, she might be my favorite female artist of all time!
However, in this day and age, it can be challenging to recommend her work to friends, as her music is quite different from what we are familiar with from other popular artists. Even among her own work, there are significant differences, Kate Bush is just that unique!

Kate Bush originally wanted to borrow from the James Joyce novel “Ulysses” for this song but was refused permission from the estate controlling this work. She instead used it, and an old Macedonian folk song “Nevestinko oro”, as inspiration and came up with her own words for the creation of “The Sensual World” in 1989.
Subsequently the estate relented and gave Kate permission to use the work. Twenty-two years after the first version she changed the lyrics to the song and re-recorded it. This time she quoted directly from “Molly Bloom’s Soliloquy” in James Joyce’s “Ulysses” and retitled it “Flower of the Mountain” on her 2011 album “Director’s Cut.” I love both versions so I really like this mix.

I remember when I bought the 12" of this when it came out. Not immediately apparent was that it had a double groove! One was instrumental and the other vocal on the same side! Getting the one you wanted proved a bit trial and error! 😂 my favourite Kate track though!

I began listening to and buying Kate's albums during the early 80's, all very lovely and unique in their own way. When she released The Hounds of Love, I felt a new level of maturity and thought in her composition and recordings. I remember telling friends that The Hounds album is more of a concept album, a journey within a dream, a masterpiece in that era of throwaway pop. And then in 91(?) came The Sensual World, with it's beautifully composed title track which completely blew me away. An all-time personal favourite that seduced and teased me in the ways that only Kate Bush can. The next track 'Reaching Out' hits the spot too. Fabulous album.
Thank you Kate, I've grown up with your music, sometimes years between actually listening to some of your work but nevertheless I always come back because you are an amazing artist with a gift for touching our senses.
