I began listening to and buying Kate's albums during the early 80's, all very lovely and unique in their own way. Nydelig helt sikkert. Kate Bush originally wanted to borrow from the James Joyce novel “Ulysses” for this song but was refused permission from the estate controlling this work. She instead used it, and an old Macedonian folk song “Nevestinko oro”, as inspiration and came up with her own words for the creation of “The Sensual World” in 1989. Subsequently the estate relented and gave Kate permission to use the work. Twenty-two years after the first version she changed the lyrics to the song and re-recorded it. This time she quoted directly from “Molly Bloom’s Soliloquy” in James Joyce’s “Ulysses” and retitled it “Flower of the Mountain” on her 2011 album “Director’s Cut.” I love both versions so I really like this mix. “... _and first I put my arms around him yes and drew him down to me so he could feel my breasts all perfume yes and his heart was going like mad and yes I said yes I will yes_ “
She played that on the sampling synthesizer she had at the time. She was one of the few that had one and I believe the first to have one. They were incredibly expensive, but it enabled her to do a lot of stuff at home which is what she wanted. She is reclusive.

I remember when I bought the 12" of this when it came out. Not immediately apparent was that it had a double groove! One was instrumental and the other vocal on the same side! Getting the one you wanted proved a bit trial and error! 😂 my favourite Kate track though!
I remember that ! Kate's little joke perhaps ? Monty Python had already used this technique on `Matching Tie and Handkerchief', it's not too much of a stretch to imagine that LP in the Bush household when she was growing up.
Such a simple fill, the samba beat drive of the syth pushes this masterpiece on making you feel joy, happiness and feeling wonderful, very few artistic geniuses match Kate Bush. Gilmour produced 3 professional demos to give to EMI = Gilmour did a favor to a friend... EMI did not even believe in Kate....
I bought the album whilst at University. I even drank the Koolaid and bought some of those CD stabilizer rings after getting a free sample in a magazine. I put one of them on this CD.
Bought the kick inside at age 13, probably wouldn't be allowed now knowing the content, still a massive fan, 58 now 😮 and still listen to kate ❤
