- We’ve hidden the power measurement unit inside the DUB spindle, adding just 40 grams to your bike. Using left side power to calculate total watts, this upgrade lets you stealthily gather the data to meet your goals. It’s fully waterproof for even the greasiet of gravel rides, and it’s available in a Wide spindle for compatibility with the widest of mixed-terrain tires.
1. Use an 8 mm Hex wrench to loosen the drive side crank arm counterclockwise.
2. Remove the chain from the chainring.
3. Remove drive side crank from the crank spindle.
4. Using a rubber mallet, tap the crank spindle from the drive side and remove from the non-drive side.
5. Pick up the spindle-based power meter.
6. Use a brush and waterproof grease, and apply the grease to the spindle.
7. Install the spindle-based power meter into the bottom bracket from the non-drive side.
8. Install the drive side crank arm onto the crank spindle and tighten clockwise with 8 mm Hex wrench.
9. Use an 8 mm torque wrench to tighten clockwise to 54N-m.
10. Put the chain back on the chainring.
11. Turn the preload ring clockwise until you feel it contact the bearing.
12. Tighten the pinch bolt using a 2 mm Hex wrench.
13. Put protective power meter cap on.
14. Set up the spindle-based power meter in the AXS app.
15. In the AXS App, press Connect to pair the power meter and add to your bike.

I never knew bike ASMR was something I needed but now I need more videos like this lmao
Is there a way to see "from outside" - before disassembly the crank - if the bike has a dub or dub wide spindle?
need a how to change battery video
on the new xo crank with power meter
If you’re having difficulties screwing in the tensioner - make sure you have the right spindle, it comes in normal and wide variants.
I have the Force, where can I get the spindle power meter? What is the item number?
Contact your local bike shop to order! Here's the new model: www.sram.com/en/sram/models/pm-frc-assy-d2
As a lady putting in the Quark cranks, have no idea how to get the 54nM bolt undone…. Broom handle lever didn’t work 😂😭😭
Had the same problem, though not a lady. What worked for me was using a plastic stool under the opposite crank, then straddling the rear wheel, and putting all my weight into it with an 8mm park tool similar to the one in the video. Hope this helps!
Tied my pedal to a fence with some webbing cord and slowly increased force ….
I bought a long bar tool with a square socket plug at the end that will fit an 8mm hex socket. Longer bar equals more torque. But you still have to hold the crank arm steady with one hand while you rotate the bar tool with the other. For that I orient the crank arm so I can use my body weight to push down on the crank arm while I use the long bar to loosen the fixing bolt.
Yep this is one hilarious video, nobody is doing 54+ NM with the tool shown in the video. I have the 1/4inch torque wrench and even when putting full body force into it, it's not moving. Will have to go get half inch 8mm hex so I can use the big boy torque wrench.
Any chance of a 50/37 tooth chainring being available in the near future for SRAM Rival AXS crankarms?
Hello, is this going to work with the new sram red crancks ? Thanks
Hi, my upgrade came with two small washers - can you tell me what these are for?
Washers for the pedal axle maybe?
Hello. I currently have a SRAM Force 1 DUB Wide Crank installed. I'm wondering if the drive side is compatible with the SRAM Rival DUB Wide AXS Quarq Powermeter Upgrade?
yes it is!
How important is it to grease the entire crank spindle as opposed to just the ends of the spindle nearest the bearings?
Dealer's choice. You really just need grease at the bearing contacts.
When I tighten the screw with the designated power (54 N-m), it is very difficult to move it. Am I doing something wrong? I have Rival
This means the bike has a wide crank and you are installing a regular/narrow one.
I have a Rival group set, but nothing with etap. Is etap required for this to work? Will this sync to a garmin 520?
You don’t need etap. The spindle crank has Bluetooth built in and so it connects to the Garmin
Thank you so much! I just could not find a good answer anywhere.
Is Sram AXS shifter cross compatible? Can i have Force shifter but red derailleur?
100%
Will it work with a RED DUB crank?
yes indeed
Do these have magic zero calibration?
For our spindle-based power meters, you'll want to perform Manual Zero calibration before every ride to ensure you’re getting the most accurate power data. It’s simple to do with a compatible cycling computer or the AXS App: th-cam.com/video/gHpQi4gvIQ0/w-d-xo.html
what is the brand name of your tools?
Parktool
SRAM pls make this whole thing a lot LESS subtle. The fact that the 10mm cap needs to be left in place then the 8mm inner backed out against it to get the drive crank off is NOT obvious at all and wasted a lot of my time. Also the fact that no references or printed manual in the box of the upgrade DUB crank. Spoils what otherwise should be a revolutionary product in terms of price and simplicity. I had to contact support etc bc of this silent video with no explanatory text etc.
You can’t blame SRAM for that one…
Hey, a Chick did it easier than you, OP.
I made the same exact mistake
👍
I have a question about power meter. Is it possible to use that one to my revolt adv pro 1 ?? My creank set is SRAM Rival D1 DUB, 30/43 wide version. Could you check it is possible or not ?? Thanks.
yes, you can use one of these Wide power meters with your Rival drive side arm!
@@SRAM thanks a lot :-)
do they come in bb30 also. I have the force 22 carbon in bb30.
This is DUB only.
It's also compatible with the "old" force axs 1X?
Totally!
I just bought a bike with sram rival and it has the power meter already fitted, but I need shorter cranks. Do I need to buy the power meter again or can I use the power meter from the current cranks?
Valid for power and cadence??
I believe so yes! SRAM could answer though lol
Is it normal to have to adjust shifting after this install?
I noticed some slight rasping in the cassette after. I would think everything would stay perfectly aligned.
Nope...should work as expected. Had no issues after installation
adjusting should be easy enough. i can do while riding with my rival axs no problem. its awesome
I have the same issue, did you manage to find the solution?
Same issue here. Is it normal to have to adjust the front derailleur slightly after installation? In the highest gear it now runs a little.
@@berryjurriens5400loosen everything and retorque.
Does this work with 2x as well?
Yes! Just pair it with a SRAM Road DUB BB and 2x crankset.
Have seen that gp lama put his to 6% extra. Is this the recommendation from sram or what do you recommend?
put what to 6% extra?
Put the slope setting to 6 % to compensate for the lower power output display. He was comparing power readings to other single sided power meter readings . Some people have reported this pm under reporting power values
@@SRAM would be nice to get an update to date opinion on this from sram, Im about to install one of these
I am driving nuts. I thought it was that "easy" to deinstall the crank set. The bolt (54 Nm) was easy to loose. But now the crankset "glues" (?) like hell and there is no way to remove it. Any hints?
Did you remove the 10mm outer bolt? You should leave that in and insert an 8mm to the internal bolt which when it winds out it acts as a self extractor
@@PortisheadFR ups, that was the problem. Thank you! Thought that acts only as cover.
@@faei1 No problem I did the same thing 😂
@@faei1I also did this. Sometimes should be little lazy😅
Can i mount it in a full red group as the left arm and maintain my right red one? There is compatibility? I see it a better option than favero for weight with my lightweight pedals.
How it compares on weight with the red left crackarm?
My bike uses sram dub with pressfit road bike (canyon ultimate)
I would think that it should. Force uses the same measurements and other protocols as red, just heavier materials, how noticeable that is while pedaling is not something I can answer, but I wouldn't think it would be too much, if any. Just make sure that you have AXS and you should be good to go.
I tried but I cannot loose the 8mm screw. What can the problem be?
You not having enough strength to loosen it?
I have the same issue - 8mm screw if very very tight.
@@Thaiko16 my friend Hulk can solve the problem, I suppose...
Problem is that the video is trolling, you can't undo the 54NM bolt with that tiny parktool 8mm hex thing.
So the power meter is permanently attached to the spindle? Not a wise move considering the spindle always wears out where it touches the plastic cups! No matter how often you grease it! So once the spindle is trash you throw the power meter in the trash too?
if you're wearing spindles out you may need to have your BB faced. That would be very unusual.
@@SRAM Every bike I have owned had this issue. With BSA bb and pressfit. in two years of use it's enough to feel the groove. No a big problem for most people but it sure is disappointing
I just bought the 165mm force D2 power meter Crank arm... Didn't know I had to buy the other side also...WTF
Why does this video look like it was recorded in 2004
Can guarantee we were not making TH-cam videos before TH-cam existed.
As soon as I realize a bike how to video has no verbal instructions, I leave and never come back to the channel. This little social experiment is like using speakerphone while grocery shopping - we're done with it. Quit trying so hard to be cool and just talk.
What's the difference between the RIVAL AXS POWER METER UPGRADE and the
RIVAL AXS POWER METER? I have a Rival eTAP AXS groupset already. Is the only difference that the upgrade is just the power meter and the other one comes with a crankset?
Correct
Ia the new crank compatible with old force crankset?
Yes! Very much backwards compatible with DUB road cranksets.
