My friend has tourettes and I'd never in a million years make fun of her. I've seen how it affects her and that would be just vicious if I made a joke about it.

@@KelseyDrummer I met someone years ago with the condition and it's stuck with me ever since. I was a receptionist and he was a delivery guy and while I was signing for the package, he made a noise. It wasn't a curse word or anything like that, but it kind of startled me and when I looked up, he said, "I'm sorry, I have Tourette's." I realized that this guy was just trying to do his job and live a normal life and he probably spent his day explaining himself to people because he had a tick. That must be incredibly frustrating.

It has been frustrating to try to explain my Tourette’s diagnosis to people my entire life.. or to even have to prove to someone that I have the condition when asked,” Are you sure you have it? I don’t think you do..” Now that I’m in my 30s with over 25 years of living with it, I’ve learned to mostly stop caring about how others perceive it. Some moments are still frustrating.
I have spinebifida occulta and sciatica to boot and every once in a while (not even that often at all, most days I can manage my back pain) I have to call in sick and I know nobody at work believes me. I was literally born with back pain but I'm not much of a "complainer" for this exact reason. At the end of the day, you gotta take care of yourself and everyone else can eff off with peace & love.

I didn’t know that either of us had Tourette’s, I just saw him do stuff with his hands, eyes, and eyebrows that I did all the time and it was stuff I had always tried to hide. As someone with Tourette's, Ethan has been an awesome role model to have. Seeing him putting out videos and now the podcast helped me have the courage to pursue a career in teaching despite a lot of people telling me I couldn't. I hate drawing attention to it and having to explain it to people, but I'm much more comfortable with public speaking now. Thanks, Ethan.

As someone with a very rare condition (narcolepsy) that is constantly misunderstood and belittled I can't imagine having a friend constantly questioning the reality of my condition and purposefully stating misinformation that I've corrected a hundred times.

Its pretty mild in terms of tics. Best way to tell is to look at his eyebrows or sometimes he makes quiet "huh" noises that aren't noticeable unless you know what you're listening for. I noticed when he himself spoke about it.
His eyebrows are the main tic. Otherwise he has some blinking and hand movements that appear fairly often.

I have severe OCD and I am on the same medication as Ethan. I’ve been on it since I was about seven. When I get super stressed out my Tourette’s becomes noticeable. It shows itself as facial movements similar to Ethan. I don’t get offended by most things but the thing that bothers me is how Trish thinks she is so woke and then makes the most offensive comments. She’s just so insufferable. It just makes me frustrated that she makes so much money and she is not a good person.

I worked at Hooters with a girl who had tourette's. I remember my first day I walked past her and I heard her say b**** and I thought she was calling me a b****. Somebody explained to me that she had terrets and she was able to control it on the floor, by turning it into like a cough. However if she got stressed out it would come out sometimes and she wouldn't be able to control it. Sometimes customers would say who is screaming profanities? Of course these were normies who brought their kids and were offended LOL well why the hell did you bring them to Hooters? Anyway like I said if it was a busy night and she was stressed she would go in the back and clear plates. Because yes we had to actually kind of clean our own plates and run them through the dishwasher. Yes crazy. And all you would hear in the back is f*** b**** and just her yelling over and over again. And then she would come out calm. It was really difficult but she managed and she even had a fiance who loved her very much. So there is that

i have tourette’s and it’s truly so annoying how people think it’s screaming stuff. I don’t even talk about it to my closest friends. It’s sucks it’s not cool or fun and I’d do anything to not have it lol
She really has to work on her past trauma. I've had some trauma myself and especially sexual trauma, I see some similarities in my panic attacks and mistrust of the world to Trish but hers is 1000x worse. The 5% thing I believe was her wanting it to be even because anything that's not makes her panic and think that she's being taken advantage again. It's an instinctual reaction but she needs to work on it. Trauma can cause psychosis like this
