Hello. I really enjoyed watching this video. It was the most beautiful pipe I saw, especially with that green stem. I would really like to learn how to make a pipe, of course, with minimal tools, but I have never worked with wood before and I have no idea how to do it without a lathe.
Excellent work! The Green stem really pops on that pipe! I am glad you showed a lot of what goes into a proper stem. Not everyone understands the work involved. Oh and the pipe shape and sandblasting turned out great!
Nick, I love that pipe your smoking..... LOL!!! It should have a stamp though...... Thanks for the video!!!! I love learning new things and I have A LOT to learn!!!
Self confidence was a little low. Truly appreciate your help and advice and.... I'm looking into having one made. It will be on the next PITH pipe I send you.....
Thank you Luiz! I use the main 3-jaw chuck for stems, it's made for round stock. For holding square blocks of wood securely, you need bigger jaws, preferably only 2, so I mount a woodlathe chuck in my 3jaw :-)
@@MassisPipes friend, sorry i asked a lot hahahha i just bought a lathe like yours, in the past i used a drill on my pipes. I have two questions: 1st, what equipment do you use to model the wood, is any specific for me to look for? 2nd your plate with two jaws does not have this fitting on the back for the 3 jaws plate, did you make this adapter? Sorry for the doubts, but I saw your video several times and I really liked everything.
@@jimmypagezzz feel free :-) 1) the easiest, most versatile tool to shape your pipe, is a simple electric motor with a drill chuck on it, in which you can mount sanding pads with sandpaper. 1b) if you're talking about on the lathe: if it's a metal lathe, just use regular HSS tool bits and grind them into default shapes (although angles are rather complex sometimes): www.machinistblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/GrindingLathe11.gif 2) it's a Oneway chuck, which has a oneway adapter on the back. Hello, sorry for not answering sooner! That tool is called a "Senior Pipe Reamer", and is actually made to ream out the "cake" that forms in your tobacco chamber after smoking many many times. However it's at least as good at being a clamp to hold down the pipe :-)

Hello Maestro , doing nice job. could you please advise me what sandblasting machine set up i need i would like to buy but can’t find any info. please.. thank you
Any basic cabinet will do to begin with. The most important part is a BIG compressor. Think at least 200L tank and 3HP motor, mine is a 270L 5HP running on 380V and providing 500L/min net air delivery.
Right now I'm not accepting orders due to a backlog. I hope to start accepting new orders early 2022. I'd suggest signing up to my newsletter if you want to be informed when that happens.
Neither. Both will leave a nasty taste in your pipes. It is a mixture specially made for coating pipes, the main component is pure carbon powder. Once dry it's fully inert, tasteless and a great way to protect a pipe from burnout.
That depends on the complexity, model, finish and grain of the pipe and can vary quite a bit. Feel free to send me a message at info@massispipes.com or on social media if you'd like to commission one :-)
Quick question? The chuck you have on your sanding motor how did you get it to mount. I have a motor with a 3/8 female thread and I can’t fine a chuck with those threads?
