    Thanks for the response. I got it open manually by sliding my ignition key in the horizontal slot on the bottom center of the inside of the hatch inner plastic panel. I got it opened and tested the switch/ lock motor. No joy. Bought one on Amazon, got a set of the 12 spline Metric torx style 3/8" driven tools to remove the motor bolts, ripped the plastic off and got full access to the part. Glad I skipped going to the dealer or a repair shop. Saved $$$!! You did motivate me to get it done in my drive way. Thanks again, Matt P.

    Awesome video. You are a life saver. I was just about ready to take it to my expensive dealer to fix. On my 2017 Mk7 GTI, both the outside handle and the inside manual lever did not open the hatch. I even removed the inside paneling to see if I could access the latch. This was extremely difficult with a closed hatch, here was no access to the latch screws, and it did not work. I used your method and it opened. Who would have thought to push the hatch in?

    Thanks, even though mine is a Egolf, it's the same symptom. I have to push on hatch in order to get latch to release. I was hoping it was an adjustment of catch on car body but after removing trim down there, it looks like you are right. The motor gets weak and you cannot repair it. Just remove and replace.

    Hi there, I think my tiquan has the same latch problem. But it is stuck shut and putting extra tension is not doing the trick. Is there any other way to force it open without break the panel from inside the vehicle??

    • @maniata8869
      @maniata8869  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So you pushed the hatch as hard as could while pressing the hatch release the motor won’t turn? Can you hear the motor click?
      If not check the fuse . Not sure where is the fuse if there is one since I did not have that problem . Unfortunately i don’t think of any other way. Try again with the FOB too

      Sorry that I can’t help. I was able to open by pushing the gate in while running the switch to help the motor to release . I wish I can help you guy but without reach inside the gate to manually unlatch, not sure how beside cut the trim panel to create an access hole. if you can hear the locking motor run, try to push the gate in as hard as you can while activating the rear latch to open help the motor. If you can’t hear the latching motor run at all. There is no easy way than open the panel from inside fish for the white latch near the electrical connector to open the gate manually. Yes VW should have an emergency cable to open the rear gate ! .

    I have 2016 Volkswagen tiguan 2016 my trunk won't open is there button I press in my car?

    • @maniata8869
      @maniata8869  ปีที่แล้ว

      This car is 2013 R-Line model which is the top of the line model, and 2016 model is the same body style as 2013 model. I don’t think rear tailgate release is an option for this body style. If you have this problem . Read all previous
      comments from this video. There is way to release with probing screwdriver to hit the release lever on the lock itself once you are in the trunk. Once tailgate is opened, you have to change the lock. In my video, you can try to push in the tailgate in as hard as you can to help the defective motor to release the lock with factory trunk release remote.

      Where can I find valet button on my Volkswagen tiguan

    • @maniata8869
      @maniata8869  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think there is one. Perhaps you can check your vehicle user manual for your specific model year. I know 2011-2013 for sure does not have any manual release button. There could be a small slot on the tailgate at the latch assembly that you can insert a small screwdriver to release the lock. This is for servicing the latch as the tailgate. As soon as you opened and closed the tailgate, you will have to repeat this manual releasing process step again. Good luck and don’t forget to click Like and Subscribe.

    HI there! very up to the point video. my question is this... is the latch also the motor? on my VW tiguan, it looks like the trunk motor is out. The back wiper will not even work. if I replace the latch, will that solve the problem? Thank you.

    • @maniata8869
      @maniata8869  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the latch is the motor . There is electrical connection to the latch. Have you try to push the gate in while you activate the hatch release switch from outside? Can you hear the latch motor running while you activate the hatch release switch? If not , check the fuse.
      Wiper motor not working could be the motor itself . They are both on separate circuit.

    • @bonbagayi
      @bonbagayi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maniata8869 Thank you so much... But no I do not hear anything at all. but uh I am going to replace the latch hopefully that solves the problem. as far as the wiper in the back... what would you suggest that I do? do you think that is a separate problem? Thanks in advance.

    • @maniata8869
      @maniata8869  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since you are going to replace the latch anyway, unplug the electrical connection at the wiper motor, check for power at the connector with the wiper switch on. If you don’t see the power, check the fuse .

      My hatch, wiper, and lift gate do not function. I can hear the motor working on my lift gate, it will open maybe 1/2 inch then slam closed. No sometimes if I time it right, when it opens a bit I can pull it the rest of the way up, other times it will pull it back out of my hand and slam it shut. The rear hatch is totally dead, no sounds when I try to engage it. The rear wiper motor sounds like it is working fine, but the wiper never moves. Any thoughts?

    I'm just a little unclear. You didn't replace the latch, you pushed it in and tightened it more toward the front of the car?

    Not helpful title, it didn’t show anything with a stuck tailgate hatch etc. so not useful at all. 👎🏽. If it was truly stuck you would show how to open it when the rear button doesn’t work.

      In the video I said push the gate in while trying to active the door unlock switch . Mine is stuck as you can see I have the motor removed it . If this video doesn’t help you .. you probably have more problem than defective latch motor. Sorry mate !

    Just how old were the so called "engineers" who designed the VW Toe-Rag?.... 5 or 8 maybe? 10 years old tops!
    The Toe-Rag is a comedy of errors displaying a collection of ridiculous designs all in one tidy package. Should you disagree, please check out the four spear valves that are supposed to help drain sunroof water intrusion! WTF?
    Water is blocked from escaping, sits, overflows and toasts the Imobilizer Unit. A $3 rubber part, fries a $600 electronic part. VW currently charges $180/hr here in Texas to reprogram the Immobilizer unit, ON TOP OF....this $600 ridiculous part that adds zero value to a rather nice TDI engine, installed in a equally nice platform.
    2 MOSFETS, 4 resistors; less than $20!!! take a shit! Add the smelly wet carpets and paint degredation and VW have created a nightmare, by ruining what could have been a great vehicle!
    Please let me meet these clowns...it's time for a "Come To Jesus" talk.

      Sorry that this video doesn’t work for you. This is just one type of failure mode . You could have a broken wire , corroded contacts , or motor that is seized.
