This is brilliant. I love how you're attacking all of that rust no matter what. My 66 is pretty bad , but not as bad as yours. My garage is a palace compared to your tentshop, but you just get on with it and enjoy it regardless of conditions. Consider me humbled and inspired. I love your relaxed persona and can-do attitude - it's exactly what I needed this evening, as I've been out on the body of my 66 poking a screwdriver through pretty much every structural piece of sheet metal, and then shitting myself and wondering how the blazes I'm going to fix the rust...well, again, thank you because now I have an excellent reference in your videos. I sure do appreciate the time you have taken with all this. Love peace and axle grease, The Pilch.
Hey bud!🖐 so glad to hear your kind words. Makes putting the videos together for fans all worth it.
I had a goal to get her back on the road in 1 year and accomplished it! It was difficult but I just pushed forward.
A little every day, make a plan-work the plan, gotta start somewhere.
Words to keep things moving and to stay on track. Thanks for the comment 👍
Good Video Dad! Can’t wait to see you soon!
Thanks love see you tomorrow
moving right along . it is looking great. I love the carpet choice. Misty will be on the road soon. I want to let you know that if you have a need for something let me know. I would be happy to help. BIG THUMBS UP
Thank you, thank you thank you. Big thanks vw nut...
The wheelhouse came out great really making progress on the bug repairs . I been out of town all week for work , still crazy cold here lot a snow more on the way. Have some motor parts coming next week to help finish the motor I rebuilt for the 13 window deluxe bus, then need to get back on the sheet metal patch work needs new floor and dog legs.
The end is in sight for winter now. Days are getting longer for sure. But stay warm for now. Definitely looking forward to your videos on the 13 window, I am already thinking ahead towards my bus since my beetle is seeming to be done soon I just can't wait to get on my bus
Keep plugging away. It will get better and easier with experience. Great job
Thanks for always being here,little!
Oatmeal is a good color, doesn't show dirt a whole lot, very neutral and earthy and makes the interior look brighter. But I also like charcoal gray for me, personally!
Oh really! I welcome the info... I was hoping the oatmeal not so brown. I guess you say... I really wanted something light I'm really leaning towards charcoal because oatmeal is a little expensive. In the salt and pepper has silver in it which looks cheesy
I've had some Victory before, but never Winter Cheer. The name reminds me of Shiner Holiday Cheer... which I would recommend if you can still find some!
All right right on, the winter cheer was delicious. I'll check it out
Love them CLECOs!
Hell yeah, couldn't have done it without them, along with a handful of other essential tools that I purchased from your Amazon links.
Wow that is a lot of repair work. You are doing a great job though.
Gaining on her now! Spring right around corner... Thanks for watching and would love for you to stay tuned for completing misty
nice work, I will be doing this soon, I hope my skills are as good as yours!!
Thanks a bunch. Yeah a bit tricky of a repair but go into it slow and think about it. Make a plan and send it. It will be strong as hell just like Misty! Enjoy and thanks for 👀 E-🦸♂️

Getting her solid now!
great online persona. Very informative too.
Thank you!
Those panels look fantastic! I'll be out tomorrow in the snow doing the same repair, luckily the back of the car is closer to the house than the open side of the carport HAHA.
Omg. Seriously! Please film that. Makes for some good videos. Good luck. Thanks for watching
Also thanks for complement. Means so much!
Was up man thanks for the comments and watching cane over and subbed ya. Yeeehawww
Hell yeah. Thanks. Duck brought me to ya. We are all fcuked up. Right on man
That is the right way to do that dont listen to the haters with all the butt welding stuff. you need that area strong. I did all the repairs on my 60 with one donor car all in one shot. It looked just like the back half of yours. Check my channel for the 60 ragtop could have gotten a late model with a good back half and cut it from the heater channel through the wheel house then through the package tray to the other side. My car drives perfect now. did the whole back half, heater channels lower outer and inner quarters, front wheel houses, rear wheel houses in one and a half weeks. I dont want to discourage you because you are doing a great job. I just found a great short cut that is super safe and strong.
Right on thanks mike! Yes I watched your entire rebuild of the 60 ragtop and it was an amazing job this was my first rebuild so I'm getting all my welding pratice for when i move to my bus. I am happy with all i have learned from you and. Many others.
My favorites i learned from you was flipping up the inner firewall to weld in the heater channel to front firewall. Also using rust reformer any place you can
Soon i will use that video you made about patching the area right below the rear window that looks like a tear from the insulation. That was another one of my favorites that you had
What type of clam,ps are those you use to hold the metal with?
Thanks. Sorry if I missed it, but is that a klokkerholm panel?
Hey, yes most likely it was. Purchased from clp1. Thanks for watching 👀
I LOVE your idea with the jig. I have been wondering HOW I was gonna do that and get it just right. The jig looks like the perfect suggestion. Thank you so much! Here is a link to my page on Samba. Again, Many thanks! www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=728089&highlight=
Hell yeah! I tried to keep it simple and solid. It worked mint for what it was and materials were free to me! So glad it helps brother✌
Looks great, Your a big help. I have to do all the same repairs on my 66 so this is a major help. Those panels look like they fit pretty good, where did you get them from? I'm finally finishing up on painting my chassis. Next I'm tackling the heater channels so I have to watch your videos a few more times. You made these repairs look super easy!
you don't know how much of a blessing it is to hear that. I just love that I'm helping others in working on their beetle, TH-cam is one of the best tools I have in my toolbox. I bought the panels from cip1 I'm pretty sure. The fit was great I thought for a cheap aftermarket part. The one main visual difference is the thickness in metal on the support. You'll see what I mean. The hole needs to be widened as well for bolting body back on chassis mount. Thanks for watching
This repair I ended up saving for almost last because I just was nervous about how to fix it. It was good too get some fabrication and Welding skills first so you have the confidence to do this repair. But in the end it was a very simple fix and I'm glad I helped
One Last Thing Before I did it I try to search "rear wheelhouse" on TH-cam for this repair and I didn't see one so maybe it'll help others
@@EmanDeluxeVLOGS I think Im more worried about the heater channels. That looks intense
Yeah I know what you're saying, As Long as You Follow all the steps before you cut it out. Brace up your door gaps nice and Strong. Just pick away at it one side of the time and keep note how the heater channel is attached to the car and put it back just the way it came out I didn't think it was too complicated. It definitely was tricky, but it went really smooth for me. Biggest thing is making sure your doors are opening and closing correctly. I don't feel like mine are perfect but I feel like there will be a little tweaking when the body goes back on the pan.
Hi, why did you decide to plug weld and overlap the panels as opposed to but welding them together? Is it for strength reasons? Thanks. Good work.
Yes for sure better strength! Butt welds are better for cosmetics. Thanks for 👀
@@EmanDeluxeVLOGS I'm always dubious about overlapping panels incase any moisture gets between. But I guess so long as you protect after it should be good.
i plan to seam seal both inner and outer lapps to protect on the moisture topic.
Great
sorry - just starting my restoration - why did you stitch weld and not butt weld? (actually asking, not judging, trying to learn)
where did you get the patch panels from?
Cip1.com
Hi, Great work. Where did you buy the wheelhouse?
Purchased from cip1and was not too expensive
Do you have a photo of the jig and how you set it up for the rear wheelhouse ?
I might lost it. Memory card on my phone got messed up. You basicly. Need a solid point to weld something to weather using the strut like i did or angle iron and drill a hole into it to thread on a piest of thick threaded rod so its solid. Be creative. I was just ready to tackle it. Glad its done thanks for 👀
Folks should not weld in a row. Tack or spot, then stitch in between, less heat, less warpage. I also use a wet rag, and hammer to reduce both as you progress.
For sure! Thanks for 👀
what size welding wire are you using
.25 with argon CO2 mix. Thanks for watching
Where did you buy your repair panels from? I’ve got a 65 sunroof that needs the wheel wells just like yours. Great work!
Hey man. Glad to see this will help you out! Got them from cip1. About 50 each. I will see... I should add link in description. Thanks for watching
2 tycker jag bli fin
Thanks for watching
but I want to send my 65 down the road....mine has pop rivet and NO heater channels.....crappy respray.... my friends want it to build a herblie close to take to Daytona in 2022 for some Herbie Fest, some anniversary...IDK I don't care, time for it to go.....
I hear that. Will take a ton to get it back functional. Thanks for watching!
@@EmanDeluxeVLOGS well, my friends from Rochester NY came down, he saw the 65 and said, no, can't get that ready in a year, yes, it's worse than I thought....time for it to find a home ! Finally a decision made...
@@DanTheManIOM i hear that. To some people. They would love to get down dirty and tackle the challenge. Good luck 👍
