@josephtravis3426 always! It's unfortunate, but the APA can't decide if i play pool or not. They can only decide if i play for them. I'll be doing this, regardless of their decision

I like the idea of APA using Fargo rate to define the skill level. I remember a guy who had a 600+ Fargo and he had just joined APA. his team wanted him to join as a SL4. I told their captain that was ridiculous and refused to have anyone play him as a 4. After talking to the league operator they started him as a SL5 so they wouldn’t exceed the 23 rule. He broke and run the first two racks of 9 ball… anyway, these little things made me quit APA.
Exactly! Using fargo would eliminate that.

@RealAmateurPoolMatches that all depends on how far away your camera is. I use a 16-50 lens and just zoom accordingly
@RealAmateurPoolMatches 2 ways. My camera has a lcd screen that flips around. You can see it from the ground. The better way- connect my phone to my camera so i can see the image on my phone. I also have a remote control gimbal that goes on top of my tripod so i can adjust it from the ground

I've been playing APA for almost 20 years now. If they suspended me without reason and then told me I couldn't be around my friends while they played. I would tell them to go pound sand.

Josh, I like watching APA because the shots are more my style. I can relate to their shots. Pros shooting are fun to watch but I can't get their leaves like they do.
Luck; an interesting subject. Luck is a crutch for the weak looking for a place to hide. You hear quite often, how lucky a person of stature is or he won the race because his primary competition broke down……nonsense. Life is made up of the series of choices you make. Not something happening in the universe that affected your personal life’s plan. The harder you work the “luckier” you get. The landscape of history is littered with dreams of people how signed up for their share of luck. Not understanding there is no such thing as luck…. it’s “cause and effect”.no equivocation…. Believing in luck is a reason for giving up. How can you reach your goals thur objectives if the deck is stacked against you. Just what a guy needs, another reason to fail. Preparation, hard work, passion and total commitment will bring success. But who wants to hear that? That’s like telling someone, the best way to loose weight, is take in less calories and sweat more. Not to see cause and affect as the rule dictated by the universe, you do so at your own peril.
I agree, with most of your statement. However, i also think there is such a thing as plain ole luck.

Once I got to an 8 and realized certain people did not want me in the league. I just do cash tournaments and bet on myself.
There were even 7's in the league that would throw me the 3 on thier team. Weak minded players. Now I just work on getting an established fargo rate.
Love your idea of APA using fargo rating. Hate sandbaggers, they make it not fun for the people who want to have fun.

Yup. There are a lot of things that the APA could do to make their league unstoppable. The problem is that, they won't listen to their players. They (the almighty people in charge) think they know better in every capacity. A good business owner will listen to ALL of their employees, right down to the janitors. The employees (or, players in this case) are the people on the front lines of any business. They are the one's who know what needs to be changed, not the executives.

As I mentioned in a prior post Josh...
Never been impressed with the APA, especially since league operators appear to have MORE POWER than corporate. When that happens it's a coin flip on whether a league operator is a tyrant or accommodating to players.
And with so many different billiard organizations/leagues out there you would figure the operators would go out of their way to be on the players side since it's money in their pockets.
That's how I see it but, I also have a little business sense! You treat the people that you make your money from well! Business 101
That's why I quit APA and I now shoot for BCA & ACS. Not only do you win money based on where you finish your not feeding the APA greedy money making machine that they are or putting up with the crap you are dealing with Josh. I can't see why people still play for APA when you give all that money week after week and get nothing back at the end of each session. You might as well go down the highway roll your window down and toss your money right out the window. That's exactly what you do when you play for APA.

First of all - Happy Holidays to you and your family from my FIRED UP Filipino wife and I. Second - this crap with the APA is now starting to turn my wife and I - along with numerous friends - off the idea of joining an APA league. Your situation is now bordering on the absurd and absurd does not sit well with us.
For the life of me I cannot understand how someone can be suspended from a league without being told what rule(s) they broke. Makes no sense. And then for this shit show to take this long is absurd. Hope all works out well for you, and your ideas about better rankings in the APA are good.
As for this match it is a good example of the better player simply not playing well and losing. It's why we always have to stay focused and never take an opponent lightly. The games are won on the table, not by rankings. Again, Happy Holiday's to you and your family.

from the way I understand it the only thing the algorithm looks at is your win percentage and the handicap of your opponent, then the algorithm gives the league coordinators suggestions about whether or not a person should go up or down or stay at the handicap they are currently at but I.M.O. I think there are a lot of variables that should be considered when it comes to the APA algorithm things like wins, losses, current handicap, number of ball in hands whether it be from scratching or missing the object ball but also things eight on the break or nine on the break also how many innings per game or match, who actually breaks the first game of the match
This is what I mean by, no one knows exactly how it works, lol. I've been told that it does count the innings and so on. My point is that, we all know that their handicapping system isn't great. A LOT of people sandbag in this league to control their handicap. If they used Fargo, it would eliminate that.

well you would think but it is the operators that write the BIG checks. Just in my city at 1 location it is 100k in fees. Total divisions I would guess 500k per year thats alot of cheese.
Our division filed a complaint that gave our operator a slap on the wrist and kicked out a division rep and that took 70 signatures. Oh and she can't drink during official APA events. WooHoo. Sooo... I wouldn't expect much.
Yup.. I'm starting to see the way they operate. It's the players that pay the money for the LO's to write the checks. I used to work for a multi-billionaire, and he ran his businesses with these things called "ISMS." One of them stated, "It's not about WHO is right, it's about WHAT is right." These are words that all companies should live by. Basically, it all boils down to integrity.
hire a lawyer and Sue for defamation .when I hear you got suspended I thought you were doing legal things illegal things or being violent. Your reputation has definitely been destroyed . especially if there is no explanation of why. you should be able to walk away with a couple hundred thousand. or settle out of court.
Never really thought of the fact purple may think bad of me, just because i was suspended from the APA.. i guess it's good for thought!

Thanks, Jon. I think you're right. This guy has the APA's ear. From what i hear, he's playing the victim role. The apa wants to back him but, have no real reason for my suspension (this is what i really think is going on). The problem they are facing is that, whatever decision they make will be public. This is why it's taking so long, in my opinion (i could be wrong).

B.S.. The rating system is garbage and Josh stating so should not have one f'ing thing to do with the review process. The APA is sounding more and more like a cluster you know what. Josh is a plus for the APA, not a detriment. Honestly, if I or my wife or any friends were treated this way we would probably just give them the finger and find another league.
Oh, I'm sure this will factor in to their decision (although they shouldn't). They keep using whatever excuse they can to keep my from getting a decision. I'm just starting to get fed up with it. Pretty soon, I won't hold back at all, lol!
