Love your fleets of your stack container cars & the Auto Racks your computer sketch plans are impressive... I enjoy watching this segment very well. 👏🙂
@@BArailsystem Hey Ben, I saw a cool show called mighty trains on Smithsonian channel and it had a piece on the Rocky Mountainier! It runs from Vancouver to Banff. That is right on top of the area you Model, man those CP guys running Trains in that area see some great Country but it's out in the middle of nowhere!!! They showed the Cisco Bridge and I think it's called the KAM LOOPS on the trains out and back trip!!! Let me say your layout nails the scenery to a tee!!!
I love how much detail is going int9 this layout! The fact that the signal hoods are different from the top and bottom one, can’t wait for more updates man keep it up and stay safe!
Banff is a very cool city. We traveled through there at the end of your last summer. Cought the Rocky Mountaineer from ther to Vancouver. Amazing trip so your model area has meaning and memoriess for me.
It sure is. Natural beauty combined with such strong railroad history and roots makes it one of my favourite places on earth! Never mind hiking, I'll stand on the platform all day :) Banff to Vancouver must have been an amazing trip. What an awesome memory.
That was fantastic as usual Ben. I loved the intermodal train. I can see that I shall have to add a few containers to my collection. The level of detail you go to is beyond belief. Like others in the comments I'm looking forward to the station build. David.
@@BArailsystem I agree on that too Ben. I run some pretty long container trains myself. I was made aware just yesterday that Canadian tire now has 60' containers. I was sent a picture of one sitting on top of a CP 53' in a train going through Kamloops.
Looking great, love the signals, looking forward to seeing them on the layout. The station will look awesome when it is a built up, i agree it is good to make the CAD first and then get a cut list for less errors. Yeah summer time puts the layouts on hold for the nice weather. Again, great job. Thanks for sharing and stay safe. Ken
awesome update BA the consist looks a lot like CP 148 down here when it stops in smith falls for a crew change before heading to Montreal. Also that first signal you did of that weird shorter height I've seen them down here there's on at the old station in smith falls On where the line splits at the Brockville sub and Winchester sub. and there is another spot I've seen them on the Mactier Sub right at the Diamond where the Mactier and Meaford sub cross each other just west of Barrie On all in all great vid man love the content awesome to see long trains on a layout cheer :)
Thanks! Yeah I am not sure where the shorter standard came from, I know visibility is a factor sometimes they will be very high if there is a crest of a hill or something in front but 17' is a pretty short signal. I was shooting for 113/114, a daily intermodal/autorack train that goes through Banff but I bet it could be a dead ringer for a 148 too like you say. Thanks for the comment.
Morning Ben. First of all hope you and all your family are keeping well? WOW that intermodal at the beginning is awesome and it had a mid DPU lol 😂 I think your achieving what your intentions are on making a realistic layout. Keep the good work up as it's looking absolutely fantastic 👍🏻 Cheers Stevie 😎🇬🇧
Hi Stevie! All are well and getting excited for some activities this fall, fingers crossed our cases stay low enough to open schools. Always appreciate your comments. Cheers! -Ben
Very Nice. You could do with a Ring Engineering EOT device on the end of your last autorack. I know they are relatively quite expensive for what they are and a pain because once you fit them you are committed to them being on the car unless you continually swap out the trucks. That said, if you have several cars with one fitted, it makes it easier. I have 2 plus one details west older style type (only the Ring fitted to date lol!) but I plan to get 3 more. They come in different colours but I'm not sure what colour EOT device CP use. The Ring ones are the best looking on the market.
Thanks! I do have some but not enough to do all the trains in staging so I am too lazy to switch them from car to car for videos. I'll have to get some more of them. Pretty much always a red flasher on CN/CP up here in Canada.
Hey been awesome as usual I wish I had the knowledge to build build signals because I need prototypical N-Scale signals and nobody makes them. Keep up the great work I look forward to your videos. Gary
One of the problems you can have, which some don't realise, is it depends which type of drawings you have access to plans to build the station e.g. What was given to the builder to build it. Or what are called as-built drawings which would have been produced after it is built which would pick up any changes, dimensions layout etc, that happened during construction. If you are finding things that don't look right in your plans this could be why. Everything is looking great, I haven't built up the courage to start soldering my three colour LEDs yet 😜😎🚂 Neil
That's a very good point Neil and I think I am running into that using 1910 original plans. I have to do a lot of interpolation which is fine. I have a million photos of the building from the era I am looking to capture so as long as I capture the overall look I will be happy. I just built another signal last week and all six lights were still working after I assembled the mast so that's a good sign :) I'm always worried I'll have one come loose after the signal is all put together and I will have to disassemble the whole thing.
BArailsystem on mine the spotlight cowl and the back box are made from one piece of folded brass shim so when it is completed and the LEDs are in place that’s it 🤪🤪Neil
Your so awesome Ben I been working my layout as well I got my first scale trains dash9 in the Union Pacific nice looking unit other one on way more cars Sd70m but overall doing a lot Railfan my area Canadian pacific u guys send a lot potash threw her and units like crazy
Thought of something really silly for the layout do some graffiti but more or less minecraft themed or hockey theme idk something like "slapshot" on a ONE container or "the great one" on a grand trunk and western auto or something. Something fun to do with a fine tip sharpie or paint
that cool. ya i kinda in to 3d modeling my self i use blender. and models i made are for train simulator 2020 game. also unreal 4 at times. hey have you thought about 3d printers? i hear those are good at model building. mind you it cost a lot but well worth it in long run.
Thanks! The price has come down a lot. I've seen a few modellers making some really amazing stuff with the AnyCube and Mars printers. The quality of the print is amazing!
Anyone spot the train hopper?
Is your layout ho scale ??

Enjoy all the outside time you can Ben, you guys up there can get some
Brutal winters!!!
Thanks Scott. We have been, it's been an amazing couple weeks here weather wise.

Great INTERMODAL train love those double stack and auto racks very very nice👍👍
Thanks!
That is one amazing consist to start things out with!
Thanks Scott!
Just got a 3 pack of these containers. Very nice!
Always an enjoyable layout to see. Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic lay out

The signals are gonna look amazing when there in place as always great work

Amazing Intermodal train!!! Great vid as usual !!

That stack train is beautiful
Nothing like a long intermodal train, model or prototype!

Thanks Joseph!
Nice looking closing scenes.

Thanks Gary! Maybe Atlas will do signals in N scale since they bought the BLMA tooling?
I did email them and they said the mold for n scale is to hard. What is a guy to do
Looking great
Thanks Ed!
As an ONE equipment coordinator, yay!
Haha awesome!! My daughter absolutely loves the pink paint scheme btw, she looks for them everytime we see a train :)

Can you make a video our of cp 140 of your ho scale trains
Hi Benjamin! Would you like to voice in my train series?
Hello! Sorry, I just don't have the time right now.
Out of curiosity, what are you using to film this?
Sony Camcorder HDRCX405-B
How did u ballest you layout?
Scenery Express #50 ballast
