Tip 5 is the money shot. I just started playing and I find that I’m thrilled just to be able to run around. At 74 , I know how tough old age can be. But pickle ball has made me appreciate this gift called life so much more. Thanks for the tips
In all the videos I've watched (a total newbie here), I've never heard anyone say, "Smile (be thankful)". I love it! I'm not playing to compete but I am playing for exercise and fun. Fun and Smile go together! Thanks for that reminder ... it's about the fun so SMILE!!!
Just started playing for the first time ever last week. I'm almost 63, retired and so far play with fellow retirees from my old profession. Simple, effect information here. Thank you!
Man! I like your teaching demeanor. Not authoritarian; just a take-it-or-leave-it beginning, which leaves me willing to “take-it” before you’re even half way through. Thanks.
Great video. Thanks for the wonderful tips. Can you tell me if servers partner has to be behind the back line along with the server? Is it a foot fault if he isn't? Thx.
Thank you! I do enjoy myself as well as other players! This is a good go-to reminder video as well! I have Parkinson's, so anything I do to improve is a bonus for my health and game!
I am just starting I have not even touched a pickleball paddle. But, your introduction was perfect for me. I will take your wisdom building my skillset in playing the game.
I saved this to my favorites! Sometimes we just need a reminder for the little things! Like watching the ball and not get distracted and especially number 5! Thanks👍👍
Great tips, especially the rhythm method! The fluidity and smoothness in stroke is something that’s easier said than done, but it comes with a lot of Practice- like you said. I LOVE your last tip, it’s underrated but so true. Be happy!

Yes, SMILE! I love Pickleball and enjoy a competitive game. I especially like playing with people who smile and have fun. If you swing-n-miss, laugh it off!
Incredible tips… I love the one about smiling mostly because you are doing your best in the other ones as you are improving your game… be kind.. after each play regardless of the result, always respectfully send the ball to your opponent and this might be controversial but before you slam a ball always be mindful on who the opponent is and specially if is a lady…I do love winning but to be a winner is not always determined by the score. Thanks for this great tips..
I love #3...most people I play with want to talk all the time while playing...I just want to get into that 'zone', and stay focused on the ball, the play, score & how my partner (whomever it is at the time) and I can play better as a team. I can play for hours at a time, until I drop!...great tips, love this game!
PickleballCentral Yes, yes! One more? 😂 Any boot camps or intense workshops recommended by Pickleball Central? I want to keep improving my game & would probably go anywhere for the right instruction! Thanks!
Thanks for the vid. We are currently getting this great game rolling in perth australia...we are long time tennis coaches so we have good co-ordination!...but we diffinatley need to stop playing it like tennis and learn the intricacies of the game!...great fun.
Very clear and well demonstrated as well as articulated. I've always been in favor of using the hand that way at first switching to the paddle, when coaching/guiding youngsters. Throwing the ball from the baseline underhand smooths out the serve motion. If the PB ball is too light then stand aup at the kitchen line while doing this OR go back to the baseline w/a tennis ball and rehearse a smooth serve motion like he shows here. Remember to involve the body. Feet, hips and shoulder turn/rotation to let the energy gradually dissipate through the whole motion. Cheers!
My favourite Glen Peterson match is US Open 2017, with Del Kauss, against Brian Staub and Steve Dawson. I have used my own analysis of that match as a coaching aid for the last year. To me, it was a text book example of these 5 thoughts/ideas. Excellent video. If you are not doing number 5, it is time to get another hobby.
Paula Peterson If you have to lose a match, going down fighting is a good way to go. There were very few easy points. Lots of patience, and skill which only come with plenty of focused drilling.
Number 5 is actually the easiest. If you're having fun then keep smiling. The other four tips Glen spells out so nicely will take a bit more work and focus. The one thing that sets good/great players apart from the rest is to practice getting up to the kitchen w/the 3rd shot drop or drive. Once you get to the 'kitchen' work on the dinks. They don't have to be real low, just short enough so they bounce in the kitchen w/o the opponents being able to volley. Now you'll be able to control the momentum of the game. If you can stay calm and enjoy dinking until you get an opening you'll become adept at picking the moment. It's kind of a sense you'll develop with that effortless rhythm you're gonna love. Enjoy!
Glen plays with the Selkirk Omni X5 FiberFlex Amped Glen Peterson Signature Paddle. Glen used an un-decorated version of the paddle for this educational video. The extra length gives a player great reach. The short handle facilitates a ping pong style grip with a finger against the back of the paddle face for more stability and control. This is the grip Glen prefers. Glen worked with Selkirk Sport to develop their elongated line of paddles - that's why it has his signature on it! The Omni X5 is available online at: www.pickleballcentral.com/Amped_Omni_X5_FiberFlex_Paddle_p/sel504.htm
What a classy guy. I’m sure that this gentleman with his experience and expertise could go on for quiet some time with numerous tips and seriously doubt #5 was because he ran out of something to say. I run into people lacking gratitude, social skills limited by their egos and why smile attitude on pickleball courts all the time. Yeah the guy with the comment sounds exactly like them!!
Can somebody suggest a pair of racquets (and balls) I would like to play the game at the beach.Thanks.I have enough with the old wooden racquets and balls,to heavy.

For those who have never met and/or played with Glen, you will NEVER meet a nicer person on and off the court. The 5 tips he provided in this video are a must for any player. If you are ever in the Seattle area or at a tournament where Glen is play, please go up to him and introduce yourself, as he is one who makes this sport one of the best sports ever invented.

Tip #5 was the best. I am nearing my 76th year of life and I just started playing and I am thankful for all the new friends. I have made.

Great advice Glenn - all of it. thank you.
This is a good video. It's about enjoying the game and friendships you make by coming out. It's not about dominance. Thank you.
Good pointers and especially the last one...have fun and be happy and have a good grateful attitude‼️
