I hope when it’s made obvious that the tension isnt sexual nor is the chemistry romantic in the next movies whether it be because they actually are related and the “she is no one” isnt correct, or for some other reason, you guys delete this video as fast as you deleted the Shining video essay that was content stolen from another TH-camr
me seing this title : .................................................................................................................................................................................... mmmke
@ScreenPrism. Well love wasn't going to come to Finn. All the progressiveness in the world isn't going to bridge the race gap between high status white girls and low status black men.
I love the narrators voice. She knows how to change her voice so it doesn't sound repetitive, or get annoying. They're great at what they do. It would be a mistake to replace her.
There's this great theory (covered by Wayward Jedi in his analysis) that Kylo/Rey is reversed Anakin/Padme. Kylo's journey starts in the same place as Anakin's ends in the prequels trilogy. The story goes full circle. Posessive love for Padme doomed Anakin, but love for Rey may become the factor pushing Ben towards redemption. At this point in the story, it's pretty obvious that Ben and Rey are not related. Thus, developing romantic relationship between these two in TLJ was a great way to make their final encounter in Episode 9 into something personal, not just battle between good and evil. Whether Kylo gets his redemption - that matter is open for speculation.
What if Rey and Poe happens and that pushes Kylo even further to the dark side? I don't like ship any of this but the would actually be a better story than Reylo.
+Andrew Ma I don't think Rey and Poe will happen because they've only had one scene together and I don't think they would have enough time in the next movie to get into a meaningful relationship with each other. Plus, it wouldn't really add anything to the plot probably unlike Reylo, which would be a big part of Kylo ren's redemption
I totally hope it will go the way you are describing! Anakin did far worse things and got redeemed in the end. Also I'm sure Disney will have the Skywalker saga continue (because it makes moneyz haha) so either Kylo will survive or Rey will pop out a Reylo baby (or twins??? 😃)
Not only would Rey be a sort of redemption for Kylo, but Reylo toys with the idea of yin and yang and balance of the force , which seems to be the central theme for the trilogy, if that makes any sense. I therefore think that Reylo is endgame
Finding Hope Finding Light Yeah, I definitely wouldn't mind if he turned, of course that is if it was in the proper situation/ enough drama for something that drastic to happen (which I don't doubt they could create enough drama). Honestly I'm all here for the drama as long as it makes sense- so I agree and say bring it on if that means Kylo turning and being redeemed. And yeah, I'm gonna be on edge the next two years. AHH!!!!
It's a possibility. I like to think that if Kylo gets his redemption, he must be the one to redeem himself. And his potential love for Rey certainly can push him to do it.
He is ambitious though, which is part of the sphere of emotions to which they're referring. If he had no self love, Snoke wouldn't currently be in multiple pieces.
True, but there's sometimes a correlation between self-hatred and excessive vanity and entitlement, at least in fictional characters (disclaimer: I'm in no way dragging real people into this). Kylo is pretty vain or at least concerned with how he appears to others (afraid of showing vulnerability). Take the mask that he used to hide his emotions with and the black clothes (yes, also a symbol of the Dark Side, but in a meta way it makes him look cooler). He's also unbelievably entitled. So maybe that's what they meant in the video? Just theorizing over here.
Maybe Disney will get tired if the expectation and actually make Ben get lucky with Rey. Besides the common theme in this trilogy is light and dark are supposed to create the balance. They are not completely opposite both have light and dark in them. They will seek common ground in the Grey.
some fans were expecting that rey is either solo skywalker and a kenobi now is rey one of the 3 now rey kenobi? rey solo? or rey skywalker? rey and obiwan would be possible connection now luke and obiwan has the same beard that make it similar to kenobi now and rey could be a skywalker cause vader and luke are skywalker cause they are jedi and they have force power and they have both cut off their hands and not rey now rey lose her parent and wasn't seen in the last jedi movie now
What even is the skywalker tradition? Falling to the dark side, nope can’t be that Luke did go to the dark side, is it losing the right hand, maybe but still that’s not a tradition, so What is the skywalker tradition?
Nah, their connection is way too strong. Rey even sees a shape that resembles Ben Solo's in the cave and it's been confirmed by Rian Johnson. I feel, like many other here, that they will be the opposite to Padme and Anakin. It was a very interesting video, nonetheless. Thank you!!
The prequels showed an obsessive love that is unhealthy....(per George Lucas' own words)...the Originals showed two hotheaded lovers that while in love, eventually reverted back to type and to their own selfishness (per Carrie Fisher's own words). The sequel trilogy will show love done right. A reverse Anakin/Padme love story, where compassionate love will grow. Anakin gave up love for power...in the end, his grandson will give up power for love, completing the hero's journey of the Skywalker family and bringing peace and balance to the galaxy. (I believe that the Skywalker FAMILY is the chosen one...not just one member, but the family itself...this is supported by Kathleen Kennedy's assertions that the 9 saga films are a story 'of the Skywalkers')
Are you kidding? During the entire divisiveness with critics and the audience, one of the ONLY unifying opinions was that the Kylo/Rey story was AMAZING and the 'emotional heart of the film'!
You're thinking one dimensionally. There are all kinds of outside the box, creative ways to 'redeem' Kylo...I say this because redemption comes in many forms. Kylo has a skillset only matched by one other living person in the galaxy...the sheer amount of affect that has to the galaxy affords near limitless opportunities for him to be of worth for 'worthy' things.
Gry Ranfelt Me too; the only reason I didn’t include Luke originally was because people had a problem with his characterization which I understand; but the Luke/Kylo/rey story arc was where it was at in the movie for sure
If they do give Rey any sort of romantic relationship. It really should be with Kylo, not because of any shipping reasons. But because it was slowly being set up in TLJ. I've been looking through the comments and one of the most interesting ones I've seen. Was saying that Reylo could become a reverse Anakin/Padme. Where Anakin's love became his descent into the dark side. Kylo's love could become his ascension into redemption. Which would make sense with how many parallels Kylo/Anakin share in terms of their characters. And it would be a nice shift. No matter how much Kylo wants to become like Vader. He'll eventually become the opposite. Giving in to his feelings and becoming one with the light side of the force. Which I find to be infinitely more interesting of a conflict than someone struggling to stay away from the dark.
THANK YOU. I honestly don't get how people think that because she walked away from him in TLJ that that means it's a 100% no for Reylo. Of course she shut the door on him - she was PISSED. He acted like a f*cking maniac for being rejected and, for the moment, she is disappointed and has given up some hope. But, her closing a door does NOT mean that we know their link is disconnected. And why spend an entire movie building up their development together just to be like "Oh, but here's Poe. She's gonna be with him instead... She did all that work with Kylo for nothing." lol I agree with the theory, though, that it's a reverse Anidala. We saw love ruin someone, now we can see love save someone. She is light, he is dark and the force is currently unbalanced. Seems to me that means they are supposed to come together to balance it out. Probably not as Jedi or Sith - but as something in the middle.
Charles Baylor She smiled man, she only look sad when she looked up because the lightsaber broke, her master Luke Skywalker just died and the rebellion has alot at stake.
Hazell Vasquez maybe she was looking at them with hope in her eyes, hope for the future of the Resistance? Seeing that her friend has found a reason not to scamper off and run away from the fight, maybe she’s hoping that’ll convince others to join their cause-to fight for their loved ones.
The concept of Reylo isn't just a fanfiction, they're the BALANCE. I thought these tumblr fans were just a bunch of crazies but tbf they predicted the last jedi (which was written before the force awakens) pretty much to a T. I really see Rey and Kylo/Ben getting together in 9... finally bringing balance. As for the other ships; I MASSIVELY ship stormpilot (finn and Poe) but I feel like Disney will go down the route of finn and Rose. I don't have a clue where ships like kylo + hux, rey + Poe and Finn+rey cane from tbh.
Alex Hodges Rey and Poe will get together and BB-8 will be their child. (I’m joking.) In all seriousness, I don’t get stormpilot. Finn and Poe seem too much like “buddies.” I also don’t buy Reylo as a straight up romance, There’s definitely some chemistry and tension there, but I don’t ship abusive relationships. I don’t deny there are feelings there whatsoever, but to actually have them be a couple after everything that’s happened I think is ludicrous. In conclusion, this new trilogy hasn’t brought any possible romances that I buy. I’m curious how these ships play out in IX which I imagine will take place quite awhile after TLJ once the Resistance has gotten its shit together.
Matt V I can see Reylo happening. If it wasn't gonna happen, they wouldn't have gone through this much trouble to create chemistry between these two characters. I'm definitely curious to see what happens, especially since Kylo is on the top now.
they literally predicted there would be sex scenes and a cliff scene where kylo saves rey because she can't swim XD what prediction are you talking about. reylos can't predict shit, but reach
Oh, Screen Prism, remember that the trilogy hasn't completed yet. Every one says they want something different...would it be wonderful if love this time saved the day. A mature love that sees the good and the bad in each other not a rash love like the prequels or the original trilogy... I assert that Rey closed the door on the Falcon because, at that moment, Kylo chose power over love. But he is kneeling before her in that scene, holding onto a token of love that was once in the Falcon. That's what the lovers in Skywalkers have always chosen over power over love ultimately. They think that power can help control that love, keep it safe. In the novelization of The Force Awakens, Snoke accusses Kylo of having compassion on her, which in the prequels compassion is defined as Agapae love, unconditional. I think the rage we see in Kylo is due to him being rejected by someone he loves once again. But she rejects him that time because he offers her the wrong thing. He doesn't offer her love; he offers her power...which is exactly what Vader offers Luke in Empire. But then in Return of the Jedi, Luke comes back and is able to redeem his dad during that test. That was family love, but what if Rey's unconditional love for Kylo and vice versa is the force that pulls them together. Just because you shut the door on that "ship" ;P doesn't meant it is shut for good...only on that ride. Remember, Rey's parents forced her out of the family ship and abandoned her. They never came back. What if Rey comes back to save the last Skywalker. We are so concerned for the Jedi when we hear the threat of the last Jedi from Luke. Are we not as concerned for the fate of the last Skywalker? Would it be wonderful, that at least, a Skywalker learned to love maturely. Look at Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, like Jedi Jade pointed out, Darcy offered his hand the first time by saying that she and her "family's condition in life is so decidely below my own." Yes, Kylo says that with pride, but he can be changed.... I believe. Remember the last thing Luke told Leia before he left her. Sit on that. Do you really want the Skywalker family to die, or do you want love to resurrect it from the ashes?
Amanda DeWeese Could not agree more, my friend. Kylo being redeemed by choosing his love for her over power is how this story ends. It ends in the Force being balanced and the two of them together. We finally get a happy ending for the Skywalker family by the last living Skywalker. It just makes sense that this is how the story is going. All of the evidence leading up to this point is there for it. I mean, it is pretty obvious that he isn't too far gone, even though he's done some horrible things. Vader was in a farther place on the Dark side that Kylo was. So, if be can be redeemed, than Kylo most certainly can be. Anyway, we don't see the Skywalker story ending in tragedy. This is ultimately a fairy tale for children, and we will get the happily ever after we have been yearning for in the Skywalker saga.
"Like putting... Luke and Han together" - hilarious! Very interesting thoughts on the film, and I'm impressed that you worked ancient Greek ideas of love into the analysis.
I guess that people don't understand that Kylo's LOVE for REY overcome his EGO and PRIDE. His man pride was shattered by Rey when she defeated him, but even then he wanted her at his side and asked her with humility. Star Wars story is about finding the balance between opposites forces. Rey and Kylo are the opposites forces that will bring the balance to the force by finding the middle ground. Both have that middle ground inside them which is compassion for one another.
While I don't agree with every argument presented in this video, thank you for presenting Reylo in a way that does not disparage those who ship it. This is how you have healthy debate.
I disagree. This trilogy I think will be different. They've already had two relationships in star wars not work out, they need to have one work out in this trilogy. Rey and Kylo Ren I believe are soul mates. One cannot live without the other. I think they will be grey Jedi in order to make things work.
i hope for this one as well! i mean they've already got the 1 - evil ending, 1 light ending, so definitely a 1 - true end to both battles is in place X'D Speaking i always saw anakin/padme pair to be the tragic and leia/han to be the pair that be, eventually i'm pushing reylo to be the one that got away one LOL I SUCK AS A REYLO FAN FOR THIS.
I do believe that Rey and Kylo need to come together in some way. Their relationship (whether romantic or not) would bring balance to the force. In the middle of darkness and light, there is compassion. Kylo has compassion for Rey, and she has compassion for him. A lot of people say that if they were to be together, he would turn her to the dark side. But here's the thing about darkness: it doesn't exist. Darkness is simply the absence of light. There isn't light in Kylo's life. But if you bring light (Rey) to the darkness (Kylo) you light up the darkness. They balance each other. One wouldn't completely turn to another side, they would become a new thing. The grey area that is balance and would bring peace to the Galaxy.
Samantha Parris, that is the perfect answer. I glad that someone sees beyond the stereotypes of relationships. This is about balance and balance can only be achieved in the middle ground of compassion.
First of all, I don't think Rey and Kylo/Ben are opposites just because they stand on the opposite sides of the war. They actually are pretty much alike: both had a harsh childhood, both fell extremely lonely, they both are trying to escape from the past and they both are trying to find their place in the story... So I don't think just because Rey represents "the light" and Kylo/ben "the darkness" makes them opposites. And I don't agree that Kylo was just a "test" for Rey. Kylo is an individual character in the story and he is not less important than Rey. He's one of the lead characters (at least in my opinion) and I don't think all that he is doing in the movies is just being some sort of barrier for Rey to overcome. If that's so I would be very disappointed with the way the story is going. But it's just my opinion...
Yes, yes, exactly. I don't like the idea either. I say, up to the pivotal moment of Rey and Kylo Ren standing amongst the corpses in the burning throne room, a whole multitude of things had been possible. Including Kylo Ren coming back from the dark side and joining Rey, or Rey going over to the dark side to him. Or the two of them meeting in the middle of the bridge halfway across and completely letting the entire past go, establish something that embraces both sides of the Force, the entirety of human nature, good and the bad, love and hate, altruism and selfishness, empathy and agression. Because up to that point, I think both of them had both sides battling inside of them. It was a pivotal moment when Kylo Ren said, Rey should join him so that they could establish "order," and "rule". Because with the interesting and tempting prospect of letting the past go in mind, those words translated as "replacing the past with Dark Side rule." Because in the societal strife context that they're in, "order" would have meant authoritarian rule and "rule" would have meant despotism and oppression. And I think that was the moment where Kylo Ren pushed Rey, still hanging in the balance between light and dark, back to the Light side. Or better yet, Rey seeing in that light the situation and understanding her core values, as opposed to Kylo. Rey is such a great hero. Where both Anakin and Luke were impatient and thick-headed, ambitious to the point of arrogance, Rey is cautious, level-headed and wise. Her hindrance and baggage is her past and once she reaches a point where she can move past that, she truly awakens. Now Luke and the fans and everyone, for all intents and purposes, are calling her a Jedi, but I think that's just an expression used for the lack of a better term. Because I thoroughly hope that either her, or her and Kylo/Ben together, can be a start of something completely new, moving past the Jedi/Sith dychotomy.
Right? They have the most chemistry as a possible pairing but there's no way they'd ever take the chance that the homophobic part of the population wouldn't go see it.
It's not just Disney. Enough fuckboi fans are bitching about there being too many women, some people were even racist about Finn... A gay relationship would make them boycott the movie. It's sad because it's bullshit, but it is what it is :|
(spoiler) I loved it when ben grew to be better out of his love for rey in rise of skywalker. I was sad about what happened but their strong connection provided his redemption when he saved her. It was easy to see all the love he had deep inside for her and why she was his drive to finally make his own choices and choose the good for himself. He didn’t deserve to die. I would’ve loved to see what they would’ve become. But he had a choice. And given the circumstances he chose rey. He wanted her to live. When he saw her on the ground I don’t think he doubted for a second that he would choose to save her even if he had to sacrifice himself And he’ll alway be with her, inside of her. And that ending is happy. Both of them deserved happy. I don’t think he ever was a bad person I think he had bad influence and misguided perception that drove him to terrible things. But she helped him see the good and see the choice that he never thought possible. And when she was in trouble he felt compelled to be there. And when she showed her compassion in healing him, bridging the gap, he finally understood what love was like. Even though he was broken, she never lost hope and she never stopped caring, and he cared back. Best character arc accentuated by adam driver’s amazing portrayal and chemistry.
Beautifully said 🙂👏I feel sad about Ben's death but his story has some arc at least. I'd like to see some beginnngs for Rey, though and I can't see any? She's alone once again & I'd like to see at the end of the movie that she thinks of Ben somehow. Sadly, no one mentioned him & she ... yeah, we actually don't know what's for her in that world.
I really don't want Finn and Rey to end up together---it would be nice for once to see a female and male lead not end up together, but remain solid friends. Why do the leads have to end up with someone anyway? Though...I'm still holding out for Finn and Poe to become a thing.
I agree with everything you've said. I also like the idea of Finn "getting over " his initial romantic feelings for Rey (there were many hints) and still being best friends with her. We almost never get to see male female friendships like that in media. In general, pairing those two seems like such a waste when platonic bonds can be as or even more important than romantic relationships. And they're a really good combo at that. It also feels a little regressive to involve Rey in any love triangles (either with Rose / Finn or Finn/ Keylo ), I'd be much happier if she remained single by the end of the trilogy (similar to Luke). And there's no denying that there was some serious chemistry between Finn and Poe. I hope they're not afraid of following through with that. Especially since that kiss with Rose was really uncomfortable and awkward (hopefully on purpose)
Why does Poe & Finn have to be a thing? Why can't they both just be good friends or brothers from another mother. Plus! Finn clearly has thing for Rey. There is no romantic chemistry with Poe & Finn *what so ever*
I can understand what you mean and I agree partly. Finn was definitely interested romantically in Rey (asking if she has a boyfriend etc.) and they're really great togehter but like I said I would find a strong platonic bond between the two that much more valuable! They make a great match but I don't want to see Rey end up with someone just because we think female characters always have to. And while she definitely cares a lot about Finn, I don't think she's interested in a romantic relationship with him (although that last shot where she witnesses Finn caring for Rose makes my statement debatable. But about the other part of your answer, would it be so bad to you if Finn and Poe became a couple? If you watch closely during the scenes with Poe (observe his body language and some of his actions like giving Finn his jacket etc.) and also listen to the interviews with Oscar Isaac where he adamantly declares that he was playing romance during his scenes in TFA, you can't help but feel that Poe was interested in Finn romantically. Although Finn doesn't necessarily reciprocate Poe's feelings, the two definitely have a much better chemistry than Rose and Finn (at least in my opinion). Since I don't want to see Finnrey (even though they make a great match) and Finnrose was terrible and I sense some great potential for Finnpoe and I'd loved to see that option explored further in this installment but sadly we didn't get any of that. But do you see what I mean?
+Afrika Rising What?? How did you arrive at that conclusion from everything I've said?? First of all, Finn wouldn't be gay if FinnPoe happened since he was/ is clearly romantically interested in Rey, so the "gay" part doesn't make any sense. Second and most importantly, I explained why I wouldn't want Finnrey to happen by stating my wish for Rey to remain single. (Because she's a really great female protagonist that doesn't need any romantic subplot to make her more interesting or her story more enganging and I don't like the ideas that female characters always need to be involved in some love affair and because I really want to see platonic bonds being treated as equally important to romantic/ sexual relationships) I don't mind any "interracial" relationships; like obviously none of that stuff should matter nowadays anymore? I don't even understand what the skin colour has to do with the romance aspect in this context (at least how you drew that conclusion specifically by reading my answer?)?? And according to your own logic, you seem to feel threatened by possible romantic relationships that aren't heterosexual (?) Wouldn't that be much "bolder" by your logic? To have a black lgbt main character be together with another man of color? Like seriously, I'm pretty confused as to how you arrived at this train of thought, do you mind explaining? (I'm genuinely curious)
You’re forgetting that while turning down this Love was a test for Rey, that it was also a test for Ren....and he wasn’t ready. His character has room to GROW..and become something healthy. He was obviously remorseful and ashamed at the end, literally kneeling before her with his head hung in shame after giving her sad puppy longing eyes. Also...Kylo didn’t know rey was on the falcon- hux told him she was on snoke’s command shuttle and he was too blinded by rage and being Kylo to notice her when the falcon zipped by him just that once
The end of the last Jedi was disappointing, they should have brought Luke in to change Kylo to the light side. He didn't have to become Ben Solo until Tros...but imagine how much better the end of The Last Jedi would have been if Kylo would have changed to the light side.
I’m wondering if episode IX will break this streak and make Rey and Kylo team up once again and become lovers, that would be a fascinating twist (no pun intended:) It probably wouldn’t work long term like the vide explains, but it would be an inspiring message to show that it is never too late.
Like Luke said, "No one is ever really gone." The entire movie has foreshadowing that Rey is going to save him. Obviously they couldn't do it this movie - cause what would the last one be about? lol
By the end of TLJ neither Kylie or Rey is pure light or dark. I think in episode 9 they will meet in the grey and either live or die together to bring balance to the force.
I bet Reylo will become a true ship. 1. They’re connected (mentally) bc if the force meaning they know each other’s feelings and fears (only the people you 100% trust know these things about you) 2. They’re hesitant of hurting/killing each other. The question is why? 3. They both are opposites (meaning they have both light and dark inside of them) Rey is the light and Kylo is the darkness (Yin and Yang) Hint: The people who seem complete opposites might have more things in common 4. Love is strength not weakness 5. Well Kylo and Rey have many things alike. Meaning they understand each other
Hehe I shipped Reylo the moment he took off his helmet for her 😂 I felt that these 2 opposites would attract each other. Sad that these soulmates didn’t get a happy ending & Rey being related to Palpatine was BS.
Yes, I think that Finn had a crash on Rey in TFA, but I don't think that he loves her. You can't develop real love in 3 days. They always felt like family to me. And I do think that Rose will be a much better pair for him. As for Rey, I think that she never liked Finn in a romantic way. AND at the end of TLJ she looks happy when looking at Finn and Rose. It's only when she looks at Leia she starts to look sad. And believe me, I saw movie 3 times in one week, I noticed it the first time. As for Reylo. I think they are clearly attracted to each other, they almost feel like a pair connected by fate (and also by the FORCE ; ) I don't think that they love each other now, but like with Finn and Rose their feelings will possibly grow and develop into something more. And just story wise their relationship makes the most sense. Good and bad, light and dark - together they will bring balance. And I do hope for a happy future for them. Like... Can at least one "Skywalker" be happy in love? -_- But I do think that they shouldn't have kids. Looking from the evidence from the history Reylo's grandchildren will probably destroy the whole galaxy XD
Bob Reno to be fare if in the next movie Rey and Finn will have a shirtless scene together, Rey would stare longingly into his eyes and lips, cry saying his name and hold hands while saying how they're not alone - then I would agree that Rey and Finn both have romantic feeling for each other. But until then....
Bob Reno what about the elevator scene? She did looked longingly at his eyes and then his lips before leaning even closer and whispering "I'll help you". If you don't believe me, (and you may just missed it if you watched TLJ only once) you can find plenty of gifts of this scene on Tumblr.
Juli-Yashka Yeah so was luke attracted to Vader then when he tried to persuade him to the light side? Kylo is the son of Han and Leia people Rey cared deeply for. Sure there was an attraction but obviously it wasn’t very deep. Otherwise she would have at least pondered on joining Kylo. Instead she cut him off as soon as she saw he had made his choice.
james d No, Vader is an old dude and Luke isn't gay. But if Vader's character was unrelated to him, and was an attractive young woman then the whole situation would look romantic to me too.
I have to disagree with this video. I echo what some other comments have said about Kylo Ren and Rey being a reverse Anakin and Padme story. The parallels between them are very obvious, pretty much overtly at this point. So, the only way this story ends is in a happy ending with them being together, bringing balance to the Force. Poe and Rey make no sense together, and that would be horrible storytelling if they put them together. No, once again, Kylo and Rey are the reverse Anakin and Padme. I think we see Kylo redeemed in Episode IX, but he has to make that choice. And I think his love for Rey is what brings him back. Rey shut the door, for now. They need that distance. Kylo needs to figure out that being the Supreme Leader of the galaxy and seemingly having whatever you want just doesn't satisfy without love. In fact, it's meaningless. And I think we see him throw it all away for her, thus opening that door. Ultimately, Star Wars is a fairy tale for children. We are on Episodes VII-IX, not I-III. This is the conclusion to the Skywalker saga. This is where we see the Force finally in balance. The past two trilogies are leading up to Episode IX, where the Skywalker bloodline is finally redeemed and free of the curse that has plagued them. Kylo is the one to do it, and his love for Rey will bring him there. Episodes I-III ended in a tragic love story, and there is a lesson there. But Episodes VII-IX do not. It just wouldn't make sense for a fairy tale. We will get the happy ending for the Skywalkers that we have always wanted in Kylo and Rey. It just makes sense.
Wow, this is not where I see the story going at all. It makes no sense for Rey to be attracted to Kylo Ren. She called him a monster. They are enemies. He killed Han Solo. This is the fantasy I guess of women who are attracted to the bad boy. Rey is too perfect. I can not see her falling for this guy. Plus he is evil to the core. The movie shows that he was just trying to trick her into joining him on his journey to the dark side. There is no redemption for this guy. And with this strong hidden feminist propaganda in the film. Rey will probably stay alone. She does not need a man.
rick valentino You are completely ignoring all of the messages and evidence of where this trilogy is going from the previous movies, not to mention what the novelizations, cast and directors have all said. One of the main themes of Episode VIII is that this isn't going to go the way you think it is, which is talking about the trilogy as a whole. Kylo has never been just a straight-up bad guy. He's always been conflicted, and at the end of The Last Jedi, we seem him even more conflicted and miserable. The only way this trilogy ends is with balance between the Light and the Dark. It is the only thing that makes sense.
Well considering the train wreck that the movie is over all, they are going to have to do something to salvage this mess. I guess I really didn't get to much into the story that was going on between Kylo Ren and Rey. My main focus was seeing what was going to happen with Luke being a long time Star Wars fan. It just seems like a weird story arc to me. But I guess we will see. Another thing for people to ponder about. Don't get your hopes up. It does not seem like they wanted any of us to get our hopes up in this movie.
rick valentino No, they didn't, but there is a ton of evidence from the movies, novelizations, and from what the cast and directors have said that are leading us to that ending. Look, I understand most people were focused on Luke. And I disagree that this movie was a mess and did Luke a disservice in any way. People change all the time. They have to. I think what they did with this movie and with Luke in particular helped further the story and create a relevant, fresh take on the Star Wars universe. I'm sorry, but I don't want to see the original trilogy again. The original trilogy is the original trilogy. I want to see something new and exciting.
A better love story for me would have been if Luke hooked up with Mara Jade like in the expanded universe. And then we find out Rey is their kid. Like most people speculated about Rey. And Luke does not die a lonely hermit.
it's like that hate-love kind of relationship a tragic Romeo & Juliet conflict. But what I understood from The Last Jedi is that Rey understands the pain and emotional turmoil inside Kylo and Kylo also understands Rey doubts and pain. It's not a blossoming romance with a happy ending, Kylo is way to fucked up for that. It's a hate/love romance with a tragic ending of polar opposites who cannot give up who they are and their side. That's why Rey sees Ben future as a good guy and Kylo sees Rey future in the dark side. I like it very much, to me it does make sense in the narrative.
Melissa Bay I have to disagree. It's pretty much overtly obvious at this point that Kylo and Rey are a reverse Anakin and Padme. And because of just that reason, we see Kylo be redeemed at the end of Episode IX, and we get that happily ever after with Kylo and Rey together. Because ultimately, Star Wars is a fairy tale for children, and fairy tales end in happily ever afters. Fairy tales aren't like real life. They are dramatized and larger-than-life stories. Episode IX is the end of the Skywalker story, and it just wouldn't make sense for it to end in tragedy. It won't be bittersweet, either. We will not see either Rey or Kylo or the both of them die, because it doesn't bring balance to the Force. They are clearly going for the yin and yang theme in this trilogy, and Kylo and Rey are yin and yang. They need to be together to bring balance. Thus, in Episode IX, we finally get the happily ever after for the Skywalkers that we have been waiting nine films to see. It just makes sense.
Brittany Lofland you know this trilogy is being written by different directors without a overarching narrative right? So jj abrams can do whatever he wants for episode 9 :/
Milbox R I know, but, here's the thing. Disney executives and Lucasfilm have final say on story. So, JJ Abrams is allowed some creative freedom, but they tell him where the story goes, and he has license to get it there in his way. Also, there is an overarching narrative in these films. There has to be, otherwise each would be considered a stand-alone film. The finer details from each film may not be carried over, but the overarching, main narrative has to be. The Last Jedi is proof that, even though it was a different writer and director, the main story was still carried over from the The Force Awakens, and they are all connected. I believe Disney cut ties with Colin Trevorrow, who was supposed to direct Episode IX, because of creative differences. If you don't stick to the main narrative, Disney will fire you and find someone who will stick with the main narrative. And, since Abrams is the one who started this all, he will be the one to finish how Disney and Lucasfilm want this story to end. And so far, the evidence is pointing to a happily ever after for Kylo and Rey. The whole theme of this trilogy is balance. And Episode IX will end in balance. Not only that, why would Abrams and Rian Johnson take all of this time to build up the romantic tension between Kylo and Rey, and the conflict within Kylo if they don't intend to end it in a satisfying way? And why would Han need to die, as well? If they end it in any other way except balance with Kylo and Rey together, everything they did building up to that would be a waste of time.
+ Brittany Lofland Well, explanation could be that Kylo and Rey had to build this way because of the conflict is mostly between them. Which makes their conflict all the more significant and painful. We can say they are reverse Anakin and Padme but they're not that. They follow the exact same path, except now Kylo achieved wat Vader could not. The balance is NOT about their relationship, common mistake but it's within the person Kylo/Ben is the biggest struggle in this. How you balance yourself. Skywalkers saga is going to end, considering they're killing off all of them, guess what. imagine they'll never get happily ever after for two reasons. First if they decide to continue with the Skywalker saga, there will have to be another conflict. Second of all, Kylo has done FAR too muc to be living happily ever after. I love the guy and Kylo/Rey dynamic but I'm also a realistic.
I agree with Brittany, This is a redemption story. And too many signs point to Rey being the one to bring him back. And, as Brittany (and Rian Johnson, and even George Lucas) have said - Star Wars is a fairy tale. A fairy tale that is presumably going to be the last trilogy for awhile. I feel like there will be a happy ending and it will involve the 2 of them bringing balance to the force. While I do agree that Kylo has done a lot of things that make it seem unlikely he would get a happily every after - I think whatever he does at the end of Ep9 will secure his redemption. And, I'm sure there will be consequences either way. I really doubt they will kill off the entire skywalker bloodline.
The only romance I want is Finn and Poe...they have the best chemistry together on screen and we really don't get to see nearly enough of it. Both JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kenedy have said that they would support having a gay romance in one of the movies. Finn also didn't seem to reciprocate Rose's kiss and Oscar Isaac has hinted multiple times that his character is bisexual and that he was playing a romance in Force Awakens.
I find it very sad how they didn't further develop that relationship in this movie, I was actually expecting them to follow through with the whole Finn Poe thing, I agree that they had some great chemistry! And it's probably just me but I'd find it sad if they were to give Rey a romantic subplot or any partner in general. It seems like a waste to me. Hopefully J J Abrams will fix things in the last movie
I've never seen their relationship as lovers but as kids of the force. They are strongly related to the force in opposite sides. What both of them tried to do was to bring each other to their side.
Yeah, I could see where there's an idea of chemistry there, but i think what draws them to each other is more than that. It's vanity on Kylo's part, to so.e degree. He sees her as his natural counterpart, like snoke said. If she's his counterpart she's almost like an extension of himself in his eyes. They both crave family as well. Rey would be the safest option for family as kylo goes, she's not tied to his "weakness". For Rey, especially if she was abandoned, she needs to create a world she finds hope in. She won't give up on kylo. But ultimately loving companions will overcome the place of romantic love her. Or possibly she'll have children without the long term mate there with her.
Boo Love! In the previous trilogies, the second movie always has that moment where the two love interests kiss. I believe the moment when their hands touch is that kiss moment...Just not an actual kiss. That is why it means so much to both of them. Rey going to him & Snoke with all of the danger that possibly meant. Kylo then in turn declaring that he wanted her to join him a.k.a. metaphorical marriage & ruling the galaxy together. Telling her she meant something to him...Painfully pleading with that Please. Is it love or just experimentation sparked by loneliness & lust awakening? House payment discussions would have been the end of them anyway.
MellowMe Creations pffft. Ben sounds like an obsessed teen who has a crush on a pretty girl in middle school. “OMG SHE TOUCHED MY HAND IM NEVER WASHIG IT AGAIN!”
What people don't understand is that its not just a fanfiction, THEY ARE THE BALANCE! They're love is what (hopefully) will bring the dark and the light together.
When Kylo and Rey first came into contact through this new mysterious force power, I thought to myself: *they feel each other a million miles away* I shipped them so hard, but unfortunately it worked out differently. I still have hopes for EP IX
exactly...they just expect rey to kill kylo the LAST skywalker lmaoo it is so outrageous. What are people smoking? They have no idea what they are watching. This trilogy is all about the two of them but people are so focused on everything else but them. Disappointing.
He is not dying. No way in hell. This is not game of thrones. While SW has a mass adult following, it will always be at the end of the day, a fairy tale for little kids, it WILL end happily ever after!!
OHHH EXCUSE ME but Reylo will happen. I have been shipping it since TFA came out and I (and hundreds of Reylos) have known ever since then that they were gonna be endgame and TLJ has just solidified the reasons why. All of your “reasons” have very valid counterarguments that prove why Reylo will happen in Ep IX. If you are willing to see the other side, I could definitely outline them
Honest Channel Exactly. Actually this whole video just shows why reylo is so important, they're gonna break a cicle abd and I felt it very strongly since TFA
I think the best a Star Wars couple could do is to exile themselves in in a moisture farm in Tatooine. At least Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen got to grow old together and raise Luke in peace without a darkside presence corrupting his brain or overt indoctrination to jedi code. I think that's the best end Reylo fans have to look forward to.
This video is very well structured, I loved it! As an ancient greek student, I found extremely accurate the way you matched the different shades of "love" with their corresponding in the saga.
The tides seem to have turned for Rey and Kylo. It goes back to their first Force Skype lol her instinct was to kill him make him pay. By the end she leaves him physically unharmed and alive. I never got a family vibe from the characters and Disney will not play up sexual tension between family members its just not gonna happen so imo they are not related.
I would be very careful with dealing in absolutes about a movie that comes out two years from now...so many people said a Rey and Kylo romance to be even hinted at would be impossible and would be "just not in the cards"...and look where we are now. If this trilogy is showing us one thing is that the directors are willing to subvert old SW traditions and what would be more subversive than turning the "Love is Doomed" concept on its head. Plus, if they keep with the theme of Kylo/Ben being an inverse Anikin, then for his love to not end in tragedy would be the logical conclusion.
Bob Reno that’s cute. Reynolds Fans do remember. And no one is excusing it. What makes reylo interesting is the narrative structure and possibilities it has. Their dynamic has great storytelling potential, which is why tlj went there and why the next movie will also go there. You can stay in denial but it won’t change a thing ;)
Bob Reno So do you think that Darth Vader should have never been redeemed? I mean he harmed his daughter and cut off his sons hand. Force choked his wife, and killed his best friend and mentor. Star Wars is about showing that a person can be redeemed by love. Just saying...
You’re getting a bit ahead of yourself with this one no one knows if Kylo will stay dark or not. Love could save him this time. It hurt Anakin and Padme but it could save Kylo. Instead of an unhealthy possessive love you see between Padme and Anakin this could become and unselfish sacrificial love in the end. Also Hux told Kylo Rey left on the escape pod he had no idea she was on the falcon yet. Rey looks at Finn and Rose because she’s sad Kylo couldn’t make the right choice yet. Luke said that no one is ever truly gone, huge foreshadow Kylo will find redemption. Yes it could end tragic and it might but I’m holding on to hope that this time love will be painted in a much more positive way than it has been in the past. After all Rose like Rose says “we won’t win by destroying what we hate but by saving what we love. I’m sorry I disagree. Nice try though it was interesting.
th-cam.com/video/wXTjsLLK9_Q/w-d-xo.html You guys really need to listen to this guy he knows what he’s talking about. One thing I never heard mentioned in your video is Joseph Campbell which is the author of the mono myth (I hope I spelled that correctly) which is what this whole story is based on from the beginning. Except Rey isn’t on a hero’s journey she’s on a heroines journey which is very different. I did like the video you guys made though it was as usual interesting and a different perspective than I’ve ever heard. I think this is the story that will prove that love can be the catalyst for positive change though rather than the cause of tragedy.
Just came back here to say that when I watched this video two years ago I thought you guys were wrong and that the writers would obviously end the finale part of the story with an epic love story. But whoever made this video was right....I am so sorry.
Well done! I don't believe they'll be together for obvious reasons but they definitely have an intense and complicated connection that was one of the strengths of TLJ. I'm sure it'll be explored further in the finale and I'm 100% here for it.
If they aren't going to be together why it is obvious in TLJ? why they built that "not safe" relationship/connection in 2 films (yes, it began in TFA) if they wanted to ignore it in third film? that's not how movies work :) I'm not saying they 100% will have happy end, but reylo will definitely continue in ep 9, it will become more fact that they have at list some feelings, and I guarantee there will be kiss ;)
+ nilestat OP clearly said it will continue but not with a happy ending. Kylo is Supreme Leader Ren will never ever live a quiet life. He's gone way too far for other to forgive him, except Rey. Kiss, they had a kiss, that hand-touching was their kiss scene. Don't think they'll be any kiss, as their relationship is getting tweaked and complicated.
First notes of Rey's theme and the last notes of Ben's theme are the same but reversed first notes of Padme and Anakin's love theme. That's not error, Rey and Ben's love was planned from the beggining.
I remember four of us went to see it together. Three of us LOVED it and spent the whole journey back raving about it, however the other guy who saw it with us HATED it. When we asked him what he thought of the movie he literally said "I wanna fucking break something."
Rey loves Ben, but hates Kylo. When Kylo becomes Ben again, they will be together. The metaphor I came up with was: Ben=Han and Kylo=the carbonite. The true Ben is trapped and being pulled apart by Kylo, Rey has seen Ben inside of the darkness. All that Rey and Ben have to do is melt away Kylo. That final look that he gives to Rey shows that he's full of regret for his actions. The carbonite is melting, it's only a matter of time until Ben becomes himself again and goes to reconcile with Rey.
Why are you saying "assuming they're not related" if in The Last Jedi it was said that her parents were nobody, meaning they're not related.. pretty sure Kylo Ren didn't lie
My impression was that he said those mean things to hear to address her fears not to manipulate her. The way he says it makes Rey accept the harsh truth and disregard it as unimportant at the same time. I found it kind of beautiful. I choose to believe that they're gonna mess with out expectations once more as they did with so many other things. Wonderful analisys as always though! :)
Of course I hope they end up together and become the reverse Anakin and Padme because they choose love over the force!! But if not then at least give us a Reylo-baby pleeeaaaaassseeee
As far as I agree when it comes to Anakin/Padme relationship (too much passion, too much control and possessiveness on Anakin's side and submission on Padme's) or even the relation between Han and Leia (two big-headed, persistent, independent and selfish individuals), Rey and Kylo are slightly different. They both are strong Force users (and excellent warriors) which makes them extra sensitive, they've experienced isolation, rejection, abandonment and they've been both looking for love, acceptance and their overall "place in all of this". Their 'relationship' proceeds slowly, starting from hatred and fear, then changing into curiosity and fascination, leading to compassion and understanding. They are still in the process of knowing each other better, learning about their fears and weaknesses. I suppose they are honest with each other when they connect through the force. Kylo's offer of ruling the galaxy together was meant to treat her as his equal, not inferior or superior. He didn't impose a kind of ultimatum on her "Join me and if you don't, I will kill all you care about". Is their relationship abusive? I wouldn't say so. They seem to be soulmates having both light and dark side within and potential 'love' between them has a chance to be unconditional - not as obsessive or selfish as in case of the couples before them. Of course on condition that they will both grow up to decide what's best for them.
I never get why people think they have an abusive relationship. I don't see it, their interactions are quite compelling. I understand criticizing that Kylo's character was a dark one, but to me that was more the writers demoting the legacy family in the sequel trilogy. If Kylo hadn't been the "evil" character...almost all his interactions with Rey evolved naturally. Two people bonding, on opposite sides of a conflict, who develop real feelings for each other and understanding.
I don't want them to be a relationship, but their chemistry gives so much room for character growth and understanding. I don't know how it's going to end, but I like seeing them convince each other that their path is the right now.
All this falls apart if you consider how all the comparisons they are making are between actual couples AND Rey and Kylo, who are not in a relationship yet. That's why the reverse Anidala makes perfect sense to me at least.

Wow. SW as a GOOD date film. Nice.
The chemistry is not romantic at all... what the fuck
Mr DisabledGamer I totally agree! Interesting but not distracting at all.
Mr DisabledGamer I go into every video thinking I'm about to get annoyed, but then I never am
Absolutely love her voice
Can you find a male voice that can do that as well? And they could alternate ;)
she’s actually not just the narrator! shes one of the creators of this channel
No lasting love in Star Wars? R2D2 and C3PO. Checkmate
Chewie and HIS wife per the Christmas Special. Perfect love.
Lukas Civan i think it's a one sided love on c3po's part 😂😂😂
😍😍😍😍lol my favourite 😂
This people is OBSSESED with abuse and power. They don't understand how life works at all
These two have seen all of it....
Clearly, the only true romance in this series is C3PO and R2-D2.
Patchwork Poltergeist well duh
I don't like sand. It's course and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.
This made me laugh so freakin' hard. Thank you for your service.
Masha that's true. One way or another it effects Kylo Ren.
I think a great poetic thingy.
Anakin joined the dark side due to love.
What if kylo goes back to the light due to love?
YES!
Lauren Toth ay, so you agree on ben and rey?
I thought that too! I think it would take a looottttt though (for him to turn light)..... I think maybe a grey side?
Finding Hope Finding Light Yeah, I definitely wouldn't mind if he turned, of course that is if it was in the proper situation/ enough drama for something that drastic to happen (which I don't doubt they could create enough drama). Honestly I'm all here for the drama as long as it makes sense- so I agree and say bring it on if that means Kylo turning and being redeemed. And yeah, I'm gonna be on edge the next two years. AHH!!!!
Everything you said
Anakin gave up love for power. Kylo will give up power for love
It's a possibility. I like to think that if Kylo gets his redemption, he must be the one to redeem himself. And his potential love for Rey certainly can push him to do it.
DayofToast I really do hope you are right
That would be so cool!
Anakin's want for power was because he loved too much, he loved padme so much he needed to control (have power over) her life and death
Jerry Till he literally tried to kill her
You both are young attractive and more important shared trauma
:insert Captain America ''I understood that reference'' gif:
Jancy
Stranger Things?
Lol. I see what you did there. Nice Stranger Things reference.
There’s like a 11 year age difference
I don’t think we watched the same movie here. Ben Solo does NOT have any self love.
topsieeturviee Agreed. Not yet. He’s never been allowed any agency
YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE FREAKING HEAD.
Finding Hope Finding Light cool motive still murder
Maybe Disney will get tired if the expectation and actually make Ben get lucky with Rey. Besides the common theme in this trilogy is light and dark are supposed to create the balance. They are not completely opposite both have light and dark in them. They will seek common ground in the Grey.
Hazell Vasquez yeah, like yin & yang
You need to pitch this to Disney
Creative Camper Just fire Kathleen Kennedy and I'm there.
Omg then we'll have 50 shades of greylo?
Grey Jedis!!! Please!!
I'm actually crossing my fingers so that they can break the Skywalker tradition
that was me the entire time the two were on screen together.
Break the Skywalker tradition as in - coming back from the dark side and actually living?
Or, kill off the Skywalker line? lol
some fans were expecting that rey is either solo skywalker and a kenobi now is rey one of the 3 now rey kenobi? rey solo? or rey skywalker? rey and obiwan would be possible connection now luke and obiwan has the same beard that make it similar to kenobi now and rey could be a skywalker cause vader and luke are skywalker cause they are jedi and they have force power and they have both cut off their hands and not rey now rey lose her parent and wasn't seen in the last jedi movie now
Sorry mate it’s didn’t happen *sobbing*
What even is the skywalker tradition? Falling to the dark side, nope can’t be that Luke did go to the dark side, is it losing the right hand, maybe but still that’s not a tradition, so What is the skywalker tradition?
I don't think they're POLAR opposites. Rey has a bit of dark/anger in her. And Ben has some light (ie, the conflict he feels).
Honestly, i felt more like the real story was the Luke/Rey/Kylo thing and all else was thrown in for filler/distraction/spectacle.
Dr Negative
Yesssssss. That's exactly what I'd like to see! They have so much potential for those two and I really hope they don't mess it up.
Kylo is a psychopath. Rey is done with him and is going to kill him in Episode 9.
RealHistory09 why do have to the dream 😂😂😂
RealHistory09 lol you're funny. Anyways...
She did all that work with Kylo for nothing." lol
I agree with the theory, though, that it's a reverse Anidala. We saw love ruin someone, now we can see love save someone.
She is light, he is dark and the force is currently unbalanced. Seems to me that means they are supposed to come together to balance it out. Probably not as Jedi or Sith - but as something in the middle.
Rey doesn't look jealous. I don't know why people think she is jealous, she literally looks happy.
I know, that's a part that I find extremely puzzling. she literally has the look of "I'm so happy for you, my bro!" all over her face.
She was holding the broken light saber as well as if she was thinking of ben and their broken relationship
She did *Not* look happy.
Her facial expressions is clearly stating : Who the fuck is that bitch Lol
Charles Baylor She smiled man, she only look sad when she looked up because the lightsaber broke, her master Luke Skywalker just died and the rebellion has alot at stake.
Hazell Vasquez maybe she was looking at them with hope in her eyes, hope for the future of the Resistance? Seeing that her friend has found a reason not to scamper off and run away from the fight, maybe she’s hoping that’ll convince others to join their cause-to fight for their loved ones.
I shipped them back in The Force Awakens - but I always called it Kylo Rey ;-) Awesome video, binge watching your channel brings me great happiness.
Woug Kylo Rey lmao
Me tooo, I thought I was the only one calling it kylo rey😂😂
I called it kylo rey aswell
Woug i started shipping them in TFA and haven't stopped until now (TLJ gave me hope)
I like Reylo because even if Kylo Ren leaves this name behind and goes back to Ben Solo, it still kinda fits because of the "-lo"
What is this Reylo ship thing? The only ship i care about right now is The Falcon
A cancer affecting Star Wars, that's what it is.
not even Poe X Finn?
deni sherlock 😱😵
deni sherlock
I.
AGREE.
deni sherlock
So true XDD
(I’m joking.)
In all seriousness, I don’t get stormpilot.
Alex Hodges i hope you're right with Reylo
Matt V I can see Reylo happening. If it wasn't gonna happen, they wouldn't have gone through this much trouble to create chemistry between these two characters. I'm definitely curious to see what happens, especially since Kylo is on the top now.
Holy shit I couldn't agree with this more.
they literally predicted there would be sex scenes and a cliff scene where kylo saves rey because she can't swim XD what prediction are you talking about. reylos can't predict shit, but reach
May the force be with reylo
No.
Yes.
would be interesting, but unlikely at this point

Amanda DeWeese perfectly stated!
Amanda this sounds so beautiful. You said everything perfectly.
YES YES AND YES I AGREEEEE
loved it
Amanda DeWeese Could not agree more, my friend.
Reylo is alive no matter what
Yes

I guess that people don't understand that Kylo's LOVE for REY overcome his EGO and PRIDE. His man pride was shattered by Rey when she defeated him, but even then he wanted her at his side and asked her with humility.
Star Wars story is about finding the balance between opposites forces. Rey and Kylo are the opposites forces that will bring the balance to the force by finding the middle ground. Both have that middle ground inside them which is compassion for one another.

While I don't agree with every argument presented in this video, thank you for presenting Reylo in a way that does not disparage those who ship it. This is how you have healthy debate.
bUT WHAT ABOUT FINNPOE?
Alex Rosette Stormpilot!
Alex Rosette ha....GAY
True bros like han and chewie
Alex Rosette No.
Are you threating me, Master Jedi?
I disagree. This trilogy I think will be different. They've already had two relationships in star wars not work out, they need to have one work out in this trilogy. Rey and Kylo Ren I believe are soul mates. One cannot live without the other. I think they will be grey Jedi in order to make things work.
Stephanie S you're soooo right :)
yep they need the balance
yep!
i hope for this one as well! i mean they've already got the 1 - evil ending, 1 light ending, so definitely a 1 - true end to both battles is in place X'D
Speaking i always saw anakin/padme pair to be the tragic and leia/han to be the pair that be, eventually i'm pushing reylo to be the one that got away one LOL I SUCK AS A REYLO FAN FOR THIS.
the grey Jedi dont exist in canon and barely in legends. Its mostly fandom
Well said
First of all, I don't think Rey and Kylo/Ben are opposites just because they stand on the opposite sides of the war.
Not sure how you can compare their childhoods at all
If Rey is the Luke, Finn is the Leia, and Poe is the Han....Finn/Poe should really be the obvious choice...but of course, it's Disney
It's sad because it's bullshit, but it is what it is :|
Depends for what reasons
rian johnson is the devil
rian johnson is the devil
Chewie technically stays with Han because he owes him a life debt, but you can tell he loves him as friend for sure, lovely video as usual!
I didn't it want after TFA, but now I do!
What is the deal?!
Batman Jr. Same
Yes you are right
They started talking and getting to know each other. :)
The Force Skype did it
same!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reylo was one of the few great things about The Last Jedi
Yes JJ Abrams gonna probably fuck it up. To stick to Rian Johnson
@@apetersen87ap well he didnt
(spoiler)
I loved it when ben grew to be better out of his love for rey in rise of skywalker.
Just watched the raise of the sky walker. My heart is broken 💔
Love interests? I'm just trying to find my place in all of this.
YourDone Broski I think you may have been looking in Alderaan places
“Passion between Anakin and Padme”
Me: 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ruben Avalos lmao those movies were so hard to watch
Ify Nsoha it was the Sand that binds them.
yep my reaction exactly 😂😂😂
Sorry that white girls like to fuck black guys. It's clear you are threatened by that and want Finn to be a gay black person.
(Because she's a really great female protagonist that doesn't need any romantic subplot to make her more interesting or her story more enganging and I don't like the ideas that female characters always need to be involved in some love affair and because I really want to see platonic bonds being treated as equally important to romantic/ sexual relationships)
I don't mind any "interracial" relationships; like obviously none of that stuff should matter nowadays anymore? I don't even understand what the skin colour has to do with the romance aspect in this context (at least how you drew that conclusion specifically by reading my answer?)??
And according to your own logic, you seem to feel threatened by possible romantic relationships that aren't heterosexual (?)
Wouldn't that be much "bolder" by your logic? To have a black lgbt main character be together with another man of color?
Like seriously, I'm pretty confused as to how you arrived at this train of thought, do you mind explaining? (I'm genuinely curious)
It's not a Space Opera for no reason!
Well their relationship will be super interesting if they did end up together. I hope they will end up together
Well it sadly did not work out as we saw in the new movie... my heart broke into a million pieces with the story of these two 💔
I’m wondering if episode IX will break this streak and make Rey and Kylo team up once again and become lovers, that would be a fascinating twist (no pun intended:)
It probably wouldn’t work long term like the vide explains, but it would be an inspiring message to show that it is never too late.
Lion of Judah much agreed!!
that would work for Ep. IX. that's good enough for me.
Lion of Judah They keep tryn kill each other tho 😭
Like Luke said, "No one is ever really gone."
The entire movie has foreshadowing that Rey is going to save him.
Obviously they couldn't do it this movie - cause what would the last one be about? lol
By the end of TLJ neither Kylie or Rey is pure light or dark. I think in episode 9 they will meet in the grey and either live or die together to bring balance to the force.
DJ Chao I could see that
Yes, my hope is that they end up together in the grey, bringing balance to the force and finally fulfilling the skywalker prophecy.
I really wanted this to happen back when they started to understand each other.
Watching this again after Rise Of Skywalker because I'm still sad.
But I get now... Oof!
This aged painfully.
we need an update🙏
I bet Reylo will become a true ship.
1. They’re connected (mentally) bc if the force meaning they know each other’s feelings and fears (only the people you 100% trust know these things about you)
2. They’re hesitant of hurting/killing each other. The question is why?
3. They both are opposites (meaning they have both light and dark inside of them) Rey is the light and Kylo is the darkness (Yin and Yang) Hint: The people who seem complete opposites might have more things in common
4. Love is strength not weakness
Great video. All I have to say though, is: just because it’s never been done before doesn’t mean it won’t happen.
Specially because Kylo seems to be a reverse Vader. I think they’re going with the happy ending for them.
I hope so too. I hope they figure out the force together and start something new. No Jedi no sith, but grey.
I think the mere fact that it hasn't been done is exactly why it will happen. Twist.
Bob Reno I will tell you a big secret of adulthood - you can be sexually attracted to somebody and don't like them as a person.
I agree with Brittany,
This is a redemption story.
I really doubt they will kill off the entire skywalker bloodline.
he freaking gives his life for Rey
The only romance I want is Finn and Poe...they have the best chemistry together on screen and we really don't get to see nearly enough of it. Both JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kenedy have said that they would support having a gay romance in one of the movies. Finn also didn't seem to reciprocate Rose's kiss and Oscar Isaac has hinted multiple times that his character is bisexual and that he was playing a romance in Force Awakens.
I find it very sad how they didn't further develop that relationship in this movie, I was actually expecting them to follow through with the whole Finn Poe thing,
I agree that they had some great chemistry! And it's probably just me but I'd find it sad if they were to give Rey a romantic subplot or any partner in general. It seems like a waste to me. Hopefully J J Abrams will fix things in the last movie
Jon_ oVo Gays are in every galaxy lol. You can never get rid of us.
Chandler Barteau xD
Finn and Poe? Oh no. Gross.
June Bug Gross? Why? Does seeing gay couples make you feel exposed or threatened or something lololol?
MellowMe Creations All the "LOLs" 😂 👍
there was the po/fin kiss though!
Sarah Vanderhoff ??????WHEN?????? Omg!!!
MellowMe Creations pffft. Ben sounds like an obsessed teen who has a crush on a pretty girl in middle school. “OMG SHE TOUCHED MY HAND IM NEVER WASHIG IT AGAIN!”
If I was Rey, I’d be like “F*ck yeah! I’ll join you”
Ultimately, Ben did achieve what his grandfather could not: he saved the girl he loved.
What people don't understand is that its not just a fanfiction, THEY ARE THE BALANCE! They're love is what (hopefully) will bring the dark and the light together.
When Kylo and Rey first came into contact through this new mysterious force power, I thought to myself:
*they feel each other a million miles away*
I shipped them so hard, but unfortunately it worked out differently. I still have hopes for EP IX
Me, watching the movies: feel the romance in Reylo
Me, at home: franticly looking for fanfics
i like how episode 9 isn't out and everyone's jumping the gun with love doesn't work. wait for the damn ending first
exactly...they just expect rey to kill kylo the LAST skywalker lmaoo it is so outrageous. What are people smoking? They have no idea what they are watching. This trilogy is all about the two of them but people are so focused on everything else but them. Disappointing.
He is not dying. No way in hell. This is not game of thrones. While SW has a mass adult following, it will always be at the end of the day, a fairy tale for little kids, it WILL end happily ever after!!
lolll
OHHH EXCUSE ME but Reylo will happen. I have been shipping it since TFA came out and I (and hundreds of Reylos) have known ever since then that they were gonna be endgame and TLJ has just solidified the reasons why. All of your “reasons” have very valid counterarguments that prove why Reylo will happen in Ep IX. If you are willing to see the other side, I could definitely outline them
CreativeWonder you're sooo right :)
Reylo endgame
REYLO!!! Ever since the bridal carry! Hell...ever since ‘what girl?!’
Yes! Now everyone is like “omg Reylo” when before tlj they all called us Reylo shippers crazy
The best part is Reylo is already canon. It’s only a matter of how MUCH canon now.
Poe/Finn 4orce ever
DAMN RIGHT
I think they nixed that
Pop Culture Mythology I will forever ship them no matter what happens.
They are and will remain the one true romance in Star Wars. Don't care what happens. Disney style family friendly bs be damned.
#Stormpilot For LYFE
I've been shipping this since the first movie .
This video is very well structured, I loved it! As an ancient greek student, I found extremely accurate the way you matched the different shades of "love" with their corresponding in the saga.
Doesn't mean that love didn't work for 2 times in the franchise doesn't mean that this will go on the same
Dax EXACTLY. And I think that's EXACTLY where they are going with this this time around.
*whispers* I ship Stormpilot tho . . .
Poe x Fazma aint never gonna happen.
Kelly (Rose’s actress) ships it. Verbally confirmed it in an interview. I don’t even ship Stormpilot but that made me grin so hard.
LaBella Dawna its been confirmed, they're not related
I would be very careful with dealing in absolutes about a movie that comes out two years from now...so many people said a Rey and Kylo romance to be even hinted at would be impossible and would be "just not in the cards"...and look where we are now. If this trilogy is showing us one thing is that the directors are willing to subvert old SW traditions and what would be more subversive than turning the "Love is Doomed" concept on its head. Plus, if they keep with the theme of Kylo/Ben being an inverse Anikin, then for his love to not end in tragedy would be the logical conclusion.
Bob Reno then we obviously didn’t see the same movie.
Just saying...
only a sith deals in absolutes

You guys really need to listen to this guy he knows what he’s talking about.
It turned out to be a Reylo, even if Ben turned towards the light and gave his life for Rey.
Well done! I don't believe they'll be together for obvious reasons but they definitely have an intense and complicated connection that was one of the strengths of TLJ. I'm sure it'll be explored further in the finale and I'm 100% here for it.
If they aren't going to be together why it is obvious in TLJ? why they built that "not safe" relationship/connection in 2 films (yes, it began in TFA) if they wanted to ignore it in third film? that's not how movies work :) I'm not saying they 100% will have happy end, but reylo will definitely continue in ep 9, it will become more fact that they have at list some feelings, and I guarantee there will be kiss ;)
nilestat I agree c:
+ nilestat OP clearly said it will continue but not with a happy ending. Kylo is Supreme Leader Ren will never ever live a quiet life. He's gone way too far for other to forgive him, except Rey. Kiss, they had a kiss, that hand-touching was their kiss scene. Don't think they'll be any kiss, as their relationship is getting tweaked and complicated.
I still think reyben is a better name
TiddoB its Bey....more apt don’t u think?
TiddoB Those are sunglasses...
Funny Gaming cuz he’s BLIIINNNNDED by the light XD
First notes of Rey's theme and the last notes of Ben's theme are the same but reversed first notes of Padme and Anakin's love theme. That's not error, Rey and Ben's love was planned from the beggining.
The shirtless shot is the funniest thing I've ever fucking seen
You mean, this scene didn't appeal to the immature, stupid, millennial girl inside you?
It's not necessarely the shirtlessness, it's the HIGH WAISTED PANTS. They make the whole thing weirder than it should be
Lmao same. It's just his pants, if the wardrobe people gave him normal height pants...Haha.
AM MJ oh shut it
I remember four of us went to see it together.
The metaphor I came up with was:
Ben=Han and Kylo=the carbonite.
- even Rey knew it herself because she said it first
Reylo schipper : No,no you'r still holding on , let go !!!
Merry, merry merry Christmas to all! May you get everything you want, and enjoy the small moments, too!
When Luke saw Rey force connecting with Kylo ren in her tent, it was like a father walking in on his daughter kissing a boy. LMAO!!!
Of course I hope they end up together and become the reverse Anakin and Padme because they choose love over the force!! But if not then at least give us a Reylo-baby pleeeaaaaassseeee
Maybe there already is a force-baby after the finger porn :D
Romeo and Juliet in the galaxy far far away 😖
Olya Shafeeva or pride and prejudice really
Its lame isn't it? I wonder how long we have to ride this dying horse.
ScreenPrism become one of my favourite channels. I love your videos.
Snoke is the best wingman
Yeah yeah. We know that you're here after TROS. We all are.
This is very quickly becoming my favorite channel on TH-cam. My Puppy, Rhaegar's, favorite video of yours is, well, you know.
This hurts me after rise of Skywalker
When she said “Rey of Light” lit my head light bulb real bright
'love is a moment'
no one:
kdrama fans: LOVE IS THE MOOMENT!
I don't want them to be a relationship, but their chemistry gives so much room for character growth and understanding. I don't know how it's going to end, but I like seeing them convince each other that their path is the right now.
Pink Wings this is exactly where I am in this Reylo war.
1:01 I was laughing so hard 😂
All this falls apart if you consider how all the comparisons they are making are between actual couples AND Rey and Kylo, who are not in a relationship yet. That's why the reverse Anidala makes perfect sense to me at least.
Oh Ben/Kylo my sweet prince your time will come...
