We were in manila in rush hour and was lost, we tried to ask for help but they all said sorry no English I was disappointed, I know they were busy trying to get to work, so just saying sorry was a bit off for me, a 13 year old girl approached and apoligised for there rudeness and helped us. Some in rural areas don't speak English but in manila it's sad that some don't help, but this lovely girl came to our rescue, thank you esmerelda. 😊
ako sir cebuana at tagalog alam ko piro sa english konti lang alam ko kasi po hindi ako naka pag aral dahil sa mahirap ang buhay yon lang po god bless us all
I took 3 months of Tagalog lessons and I feel similar to those who can't speak English. I can understand many Tagalog words, not all, but I understand a lot, but struggle with getting right words in the right order when speaking Tagalog.
That's a really cool device. But most probably rarely seen or used. Back in the old days I used to carry English to Tagalog dictionary I bought from National Bookstore. Ultimately, I learned slowly how to understand the words from watching Philippines movies and tv. Just like as kids we learn to speak and hear before we can read and write, you can get by knowing basic phrases like how much is this? How do I get to ? Using device translators is kind of weird and embarrassing in public for both parties. It's very noisy in public sometimes and at least for me, I don't like to draw attention to myself. I think it takes a little effort and practice to learn basic street talk and there is no deadline or time constraint to get it. For me, the best teachers are TV, MOVIES, and Songs. Enunciation is important. I would learn by imitation. I personally was born and raised in the US as a kid although my parents were from philippines, but I suddenly got put into a local Philippine school not knowing Tagalog which was a traumatic experience. I persevered and learned on my own.
I knew that you had some type of translator when you said that you learned Tagalog in one day. Even though my wife can be a translator she's not always with me and it's nice to have a translator so that things don't get mixed up when speaking English to a Filipino. I'm going to take a look at the one you have and probably get it and use the discount code. This will make life easier. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Need one of those moving after new year. I only know a few words Tagalog need one of those to talk to workers.Wife does all the translation watching out for me.
