I’d suggest not grinding or wearing gear/weapons because even without this the game is still suuuuper easy. Here’s to hoping they add a hard difficulty as dlc!
This was actually my first RPG, and what got me into the genre. Now almost about 30 years later, my 5-year old son is playing it for the first time, and I get to relive the experience again alongside him. Never thought that one of my favorite RPGs would come out again.
The secret chest in Mushroom Kingdom isn't missable anymore. They have a toad guard who is by the area who you can jump off of to get to the chest. Also, a lot of enemies are susceptible to various debuffs. It's not necessary, but Bowser having access to Fear and Poison debuffs does make him a little more useful than others, as some bosses are also susceptible to these as well.
I love this game. I havent played it in soo long but so far it just makes me laugh. From mario doing a courage the cowardly dog by transforming to people when he is trying to describe something. to characters dancing when they lvl up. This game does not take itself serious and thats why i love it. Even the sound track brings a smile to my face. This game is just super entertaining to me.
David ive been waiting to see what you had to say about this, I feel we both share the same love for this game. It was exactly what I wanted and that new gauge is something I didnt know I needed.
"Best games of all time" is an incredibly bold claim lmao. This is coming from someone who considers it one of their faves of all time, too! I just also recognize that plenty of games out there offer more engaging experiences :p
Loving the remake. Glad frog coins can be accrued by fighting tougher enemies and not just hidden chests. A lot of those are a pain in the ass to find just jumping around over and over.
This remake just existing makes me so happy! I eventually figured out the Flower Tab tip after I think my second or third playthrough of the game, and it just makes random battles so much more manageable. I've heard a few people over the years talk about the SNES original being kind of hard, but I wonder if they were trying to hoard items and never use FP in random battles (which I admit, I did too on my first run) EDIT: I wonder how many people are going to notice "Have a large day" at the end xD
I don’t want to spoil the post end game bosses at all but I will say despite bowser’s low special attack power, his kit was VERY useful for me for quite a few bosses :)
@@conroconro Oh, I mean in terms of Bowser's Physical DEF boosting blunting the majority of the Axems' threat. Spritz Bomb (Axem Black's counter VS Specials) notably has its damage reduced by about FIFTY points this way.
Good video! Excellent tips! Yeah, the original was a childhood favorite of mine, too! They did a great job with this remake! I like that they kept it faithful, but added a few new wrinkles to keep veterans on their toes!
I havent gotten to the end yet (started ff5 as its been on my backburner for years since I never actually finished it), but im looking forward to the post game bosses.
i love the game graphically but they really needed to revamp the enemies HP with the hit all bonus and the special attack bar. they made it too easy David! but i think we all knew this is how it would be lol
The added Special enemies are a unique twist in the remake. Higher stats and they drop Frog Coins, and they can really sneak up on you with a STRONG hit if you don't have the timed defense down. Nice to help balance the overall lower difficulty. The added Frog Coins come into play when you find the merchant in Booster Pass that sells you the Thought Peek info for a random monster in your bestiary, which I love! And have yourself a BIG day too David |-)
Buff Dog: Bowser Remaster: What's this "Spritz Bomb" thing, Axem Black? Do you mean this attack dealing 1 damage to my teammates is apparently supposed to deal 50+ to ME? Crying Dog: Bowser original: (crying) They say my equipment is bad! Nobody loves me! Chain Timing bonuses in a nutshell.
I wasn't aware that Jump gets more powerful the more you use it, so thanks so much for that tip! Does powering up one Jump skill power up the others, or do I have strengthen each of them individually?
i first experienced this game on wii virtual console years ago and just loved it but i could never beat it furthest i got was to the star place but here i was able to beat it in 10 hours! i LOVED THIS GAME it was just perfect and i dont know if nintendo will ever make something as magical as this because square gave it so so so much charm and love
Wouldn’t be surprised if I get this, the remake of LoZ: Skyward Sword or (most likely) Tears of the Kingdom for my birthday next month or Christmas. This year has been quite the year for both JRPGs and - thanks to Baldur’s Gate 3 - western RPGs as well.
But yeah, almost finished with Dragon Quest XI on the Switch. Mainly finishing up with the Trials, Tickington and crafting before I hit up the final boss and the superboss.
Good news! The one missable chest that you reference in the beginning can be obtained later in the game in the remake! They added a random Toad character NPC that appears near the door and you can jump on his head to get there later. So if you're reading this and you think you missed a chest, don't fret! You can still get it.
I’m not gonna lie, I know using the bonuses properly makes the game even easier, but I always give Mario only the magic bonus so I can easily hit for over 1k with super jump by nimbusland lol
I'm personally a fan of using flower tabs for an excuse to grind Mario's jump, just spamming it on an immune enemy than restore/raise FP. I'm curious if they kept a certain speedrun glitch the old game had.
I wish they adjusted the enemy stats to account for all the buffs we got, as this is absurdly easy. Thanks for the tips though, didn't know about thay Jump quirk.
It's a little too faithful to the original. They shouldn't have forced you to keep Mario in your party at all times. And they should have added in three more special weapons that can compete with the lazy shell and frying pan.
I was excited for this, as I had never played the original. So I bought it the day it came out... I have given up on it after 6 hours lol. Unfortunately I find it pretty bleak and boring (similar to how I felt about Zelda BotW). Also, all the timed button press shit in combat and in the mini games is really frustrating, due to the Nintendo Switch's horrible input delay 😭
I tried playing this on emulator like 6 years ago and could never get into it for some reason. This remake was so fun, but it was wicked easy... Like the easiest rpg I've ever played. I'll be going back to the snes version to have a more difficult experience for sure.
@Davidvinc RPGs Could I order a shirt like your wearing for my size? I mean same cut and everything? I like the style and cut and would be willing to pay extra. Please let me know. 🙂
I thought the game was okay. Not one of the best of all time. I notice a trend with SNES games where it's hard to know where to go next. I don't think that's a strength. If it was side secrets, fine. However, the part where you're trying to get to Monstro town using the fortune telling devices was just annoying. It wasn't the only part like that. It wasn't fun. I prefer "hand holding" to that junk.
You should have mentioned the sheep attack. It’s the most OP attack in the game. It cost zero FP and it attacks all enemies. The best part is all characters can use.
There is actually another toad in that mushroom kingdom hidden chest. They added it to make sure it wasn't missable anymore.

Let me guess: Axem Rangers was on that list?
@@MasterKnightDH dont believe they got a post-game boss fight (yet! lets hope for some DLC!)

I miss Mario throwing up the peace sign. I'm not sure why they changed it.
1:06 how do you get that green coin?
The post game difficulty actually surprised me it got a bit hard had to use some strategy there 😅😊😊

The Toad sentries were always there. The problem was actually collision detection before.
2:44-2:45 did Mario really just perform the Sphere Shot from Final Fantasy X? 😂😮

I like the game but I wish they added a rumble or something when you timed an attack correctly. It feels a bit loose now
It's a little too faithful to the original. They shouldn't have forced you to keep Mario in your party at all times. And they should have added in three more special weapons that can compete with the lazy shell and frying pan.
In the original everybody had to use Flower Tabs, Jars, Boxes right away due to the 29 item limit
I still saved them, just never really bought any other items.
Great tips for a great game!
Hahaha! Catching up? Thanks for all the comments!
Yup! I'm catching up on the videos I missed now that I'm back home from a trip. Keep it up!@@davidvinc
