I read the first chapter, read more about the book, watched people review it and put it in the donate pile. What a disappointment. The cover was beautiful! Dp not be afraid to dnf when it throws up the red flags.
i really liked this review i hope she continues the story on. i loved the book it was definitely a rollercoaster and chapter 25&26 broke ny heart but i think a really good twist on the original story.

Ofc u didn’t say anything addressing the racism and the grooming 🙄🙄 like Daphne literally said Peter tan skin looked DIRTY DIRTY!!! I literally thought it meant that because he lived in a literal tree that he hadn’t showered! That is really upsetting if that is what Jessa Hastings meant, I’m sorry if I offended you🤍
This has actually all been addressed by Jesse herself and she is amending newer versions for that reason. It’s been spoken about by people of colour, not to mention Jesse herself is a person of colour.

As for the grooming aspect, it’s just a story, and other books that have a grooming aspect are fully pushed online no issues. This age gap is only 4 years, and he is a pirate, that’s what I imagine a pirate to be like.
Which in all reality is true... yes she worded it very wierd but it has since been addressed and will be fixed by Jessa and her team. I also do not unerdstand why people are saying "kids reading this", when this was never marketed as a childrens book. is it a childrens fairytale? absolutely it is but is is a RETELLING, and not to mention how dark these fairytales truly are. Also people trippin about the age gap? Meanwhile they are reading book with a larger age gap or dad's best friends, etc...hmmm kay. people pick and choose what they want to have issues with.
