  • Here I show how I machined the barrel link for a M1911 in Scale 1:3 using mainly the Deckel G1L copy- and engraving machine.

Thank you for showing how a pantograph engraver can be used for small part milling. Very inspirational.

Beautiful. Love that engraver! BTW when holding down parts for drilling or whatever, super-glue works as well as shellac. Heat to release, just like shellac.

Juan Rivero Thank you for the tip, we do that from time to time at work, to hold very small sheetmetalparts for machining :)

    Hi mate.
This is some excellent machining, that engraver is very handy in doing the very small stuff. I spend several weeks behind one of those, making all the name plates for the people of the Amsterdam dental university. Therefore I know what it takes to set one of those things up. Remains one question though, How do you know your Barby wants to play with it?
Well done mate, I would like to see the finished product though.
    Marcel.

That engraver is an amazing machine! Is it more accurate than your CNC mill, or did you use it to demonstrate its capability?

I'm new to your channel and love you work . Now a question How much would you sell one of those M1911's for if you will sell them? I love the 1911 and have one of my own not to shoot just to have that's how much I like them!

Mack McCurry Hi! Sorry, I dont think that I will sell one of the M1911's - Its still questionable if I get them done..

Mack McCurry I will :) And no one of that models is ever going to be shooting, laws in germany dont allow me to build a real gun :)

@@StefanGotteswinter I don't belive it would count as a firearm, such a small scale would be as powerful as a common air rifle what don't even require registration. I don't know, it's just my common sense, I'm not a lawyer.
Edit: I just looked up on wiki. Technicly if you stay under 7.5 J energy it's not a gun.

Very nice video! One of the questions I have, is how to you normally manufacture the x10 template? And the other question, is do you envisage some way of using this nice Deckel machine for making gears? My interest comes from the Antikythera Mechanism, which I have built a working model shown here: eternalgadgetry.com/gallery.html
Thanks for sharing all these nice ideas and uses of machinery. I really like the nice and sturdy machines you have there!
