Pig tail monkeys (PTM), are definitely more intelligent than LTM (long Tail Monkeys).
If I was a little bit younger and ealthier, for sure, I'lol retired in a country where it's possible to have a macaque as a pet.
But in France (of course) it's forbidden, even you can be a good owner.
On the other hand, to have hundreds or thousands of these little monkeys in small despicable cages, for "scientific works" which end with death, there it is legal!
    Find the mistake!
(There is one of those labs that depend on MERCK SHARP & DOHME-CHIBRET, which used monkeys and rabbits about 30 years ago near my home, I do not know if it's still case, in which case it is "discreet, but legal." And an individual may have scorpions or venomous snakes, but not a small macaque of a few hundred grams.

I live in the US and don't condemn this! That man doesn't ask more of his monkeys than he does of himself ( the man works as hard as the monkey) and he has a beautiful relationship with his monkeys, he loves them and takes good care of them. Also, the monkey doesn't know he's "working", as far as we know that's fun for him and gives him something to do other than sit around being bored. So please, just because a few are ignorant, don't assume all of us westerners think the same way.

It is better to train something important, other than kill them as tree rats
They breeds more in human habitats than in wild. Their life span not over 10-15 in wild . But trained monkeys live more than han 20 years.
Good practice to them in coconut 🥥 industry.
In Sri Lanka, it is very difficult to protect coconut cultivation from macaques.consider as pest, but Farmers hesitate to kill them. Due to Buddhist culture.
Also very high labour costs for coconut plucking.
But this monkey business is good, but need to keep them healthy and low in stress, due to macaques are highly social animals.🇱🇰

Monkeys don't understand the concept of "work", so to them it's fun and they enjoy always being with their owners because they see them as part of their family. Monkeys love to climb and jump from tree to tree as well. It would be sad if he left the monkey home alone all day. These monkeys get to spend all day outside climbing trees and doing what monkeys love to do. That man also works just as hard as his monkeys.

Every year my parents would buy me a new pet monkey and I had 2 monkeys for a couple of weeks. Then they would tell me a story and go put the older monkey "in the wood" . Year after year, I never had a monkey that was over the age of 2.
My brother trained them to walk on 2 feets, it sometimes took 2 months until they would be able to run or walk on 2 feets all day long. My brother was always hitting the monkeys, for no reason and he started hanging them by the neck with their hands tied behind their backs really early, they were maybe 5 weeks old when he started the training and by the time they were 6 years old, their legs were so strong they could walk and carry heavy backpacks.

I just don’t understand, monkeys are pretty much human. As opposed to a dog that aims to please humans. This is not even close to the same thing. You don’t see behind the scenes on how they are trained. It’s not very nice. That chain and metal collar literally looks like slave labor. I’m sure this monkey would rather be free in the wild with his family

    • @chloeshann8142

You do know that animals have done things to help people since the beginning of time? Donkeys carry loads, supplies, food, etc, horses have been used to plow fields and carry people, or pull a buggy, to get them where they want to go, dogs serve people, pigeons deliver messages and so on. Also, God put man over all the animals of the earth.
This man works as hard as his monkeys do and monkeys don't understand the concept of work either. To them this is probably fun because they get to climb trees and jump around all day outside, plus they love to be with their owners because they see them as family. What would be sad is to leave the monkey home all day alone with nothing to do.
