The Apenheul gorilla's, May 2021: Baby Kiango!

- 24/5/2021: Het is de eerste keer sinds oktober dat we de mogelijkheid hadden om Apenheul te bezoeken. Eindelijk weer naar de gorilla's! Zeker nu Gyasi (2002) bevallen is van zoontje Kiango (21/2/2021) wilde ik dat erg graag. Het was helaas niet het beste weer, de regen bleef maar vallen. Gelukkig werd het wel steeds minder. Niet alle gorilla's waren te zien. Zilverrug Bao Bao (1985), de vader van Kiango, en het vrouwtje Mintha (1974) kwamen niet tevoorschijn. Hun groepsgenoten, de dames Mandji (1975), Nemsi (2001), Chama (2011) en Gyasi plus baby lieten zich goed zien. En apart van hen heeft puber Jabari (2012) zijn 'eigen' eiland, tot hij zal verhuizen naar een andere dierentuin. Hij zit daar niet alleen, afwisselend heeft hij gezelschap van 1 of meer dames. Deze dag was dat M'Fugaji (2009). Bij de gorilla's op het eiland wonen ook L'Hoest meerkatten, het mannetje Moto en vrouwtje Mojo. #gorilla #gorillababy #Apenheul
It is the first time since October that we had the opportunity to visit Apenheul. Finally back to the gorillas! Especially now that Gyasi (2002) gave birth to son Kiango (21/2/2021), I really wanted that. Unfortunately the weather was not the best, the rain kept falling. Fortunately it became less and less. Not all gorillas were seen. Silverback Bao Bao (1985), the father of Kiango, and the female Mintha (1974) did not appear. Their group mates, the ladies Mandji (1975), Nemsi (2001), Chama (2011) and Gyasi plus baby showed themselves well. And apart from them, adolescent Jabari (2012) has his 'own' island, until he will move to another zoo. He does not sit there alone, alternately he has the company of 1 or more ladies. This day it was M'Fugaji (2009). The gorillas on the island also have L'Hoest meerkats, the male Moto and female Mojo.

Baby K is gorgeous! The 2 things that struck me were his eyes and hair. Eyes are so shiny and "aware" (don't know any other way to say it). And his hair is phenomenal! I hope it stays like this!!! Gyasi's daughter Tayari (at Taipei Zoo) doesn't look like her mom at all.
Baobao has been busy! Good for him! He deserves to have a load of offspring.

Dus Mandji leeft ook nog steeds... Respect: Een dame van 46 inmiddels, en, door de jaren heen, moeder van vele kinderen, met als eerste: Lucas!
Al is haar leeftijd haar langzamerhand aan te zien, het is nochtans duidelijk, dat ze nog steeds niet opziet tegen een rondje klimmen. "Mijn conditie bijhouden", schijnt ze te denken.
Wat een prachtig gorilla-jochie! En, voor zover een leek als ik het kan beoordelen: behoorlijk uit de kluiten gewassen!
Reuze bedankt weer, Jenny - op dit moment volg ik ook de filmpjes, die Bjorntobewildllife post, van de Kuifmangabey-familie in de Beekse Bergen, met jongste dochter Noah - ook al zo'n snelgroei(st)er!

Möchte gerne wissen wo die Gorillas sind wenn es regnet oder im Winter wenn es schneit. Warum gibt es keine Videos vom inneren Bereich.
Der Innenbereich wird in einem nächsten Video besprochen. Aber es ist einfach viel schöner, wenn sie draußen sind, sie haben dort den Platz.

Awe Gyasi had a baby & her two daughters just had babies. Love all these babies being born!
They are so strong, powerful, and mean looking, yet so gentle and protective of their babies. I really love their hierarchy and also the one gorilla carrying the baby one handed. Just beautiful.
