- On board the Ice Valley BMW, in my first Senior TT back in 2014! In the race I set the fastest ever Newcomer Lap at 129.104mph (207.773kph) on the last lap!
The TT course is 37.73 miles (60 km) long and the race is over 6 laps, 226 miles (364 km).
This is the first lap of the race, I set off 21st which is the highest place a none seeded rider can start. Apart from the top 20 all other riders starting positions go on qualifying laps, of which I recorded a fastest lap time from the practices, qualifying and previous races of a 126mph (202kph) average lap.
I finished 11th in the race which I was over the moon with and of course I claimed the newcomers lap record too which still stands today!! I will be adding the full race at some point for you in the near future!
Massive thanks to everyone involved in giving me the chance to race at the TT for the first time that year. Who only knew what would happen just 4 years later ;)

Insane to think this was Pete's TT debut and first ever Senior race. So fast and so smooth from the get go.

It's his first tt and he overtakes?? And he not using brakes most of the time just engine brake, closing the throttle so smooth so fearless non any mistakes, he knows every corner every turn as a meter and which gear so on like a rally pilot, impressive part he's remembering all

I’d been intending to go forever, but now I’ve left it too late. A minor disability is easily managed at home. More or less impossible being outside in crowds for long periods.
So if you’ve not yet gone, I’m certain you’ll never regret doing so!!

Hell of a run. Any chance you could upload the entire 2019 Senior Race? It's just insane how you managed the come in 2nd when the last 2 laps you couldn't go above 11k. It's just an inspiring story. And there isn't a full upload of the race (just the 5 minute highlights) but for me the 2019 TT was more of a victory than the lap record. And yet you came in 2nd. I'm sure if the bike was faultless you'd have done another 135 or maybe a 136 on the 6th lap. Because normally you like to take your time into the race but 2019 you was like a bullet from the second he tapped your shoulder! I was gutted when the bike shit itself out the pits on lap 5. I'd still love to see the entire race from an onboard.
You never know, I have to get all sorts of permissions to share these as you can imagine, BUT there will be more to come!

I imagine all the skill & balls in world isn’t enough to win.
Justified self-confidence is also essential.
Over confidence will get you killed. Ask the parents of any teenager lost to a motorcycle accident (I’ve been that idiot rider, generally getting away with it, eventually the odds caught up with me….still wearing those plates holding bits of me together).
Low confidence will, rightly in my view, block your ability to pin the throttle.
Hickman is well prepared even though this is his first year at the TT. He’ll have memorised the entire course by playing video games and ridden the actual course many times.
I’m hazarding a guess that a rider knows if he’s adequately prepared because nothing caught him by surprise.
Justified confidence + superb abilities + excellent kit & preparation.
Already bought my online TT Pass plus, the second year they’ve offered it. Last year, I couldn’t believe the value for money. Recommend & I’m a tightwad!
