I'm glad most of them have had some positive experiences. Not all foreigners are obnoxious and dismissive of all the rules
they r friends with them only because they speak totally their tongue
These are really great for language practice I can watch through these interviews once and go back and see how I did. Also it funny how these normal communication are a lot easier to understand than anime most of the time.
Anime isn’t how Japanese people talk and is usually exaggerated. It’s better to talk to real Japanese people or watch these kinds of videos. Others also recommend trying out their memes and socials like twitter to see how Japanese people usually interacts and the types of slangs/jokes they use.
@@itzjustme3053 That exactly what I plan do first use the comprehensible input techniques plus vocabulary and sentence quizzes and then output with Japanese online. Of course still going to play video game and watch anime cause there fun.
I agree. I was just thinking about this.
Cathy's german is wonderful. I always forget that she is from there. Keep up with the great content 素敵な一日を!
My wife and I were in Osaka sightseeing. We stopped in an izakaya. We were speaking Thai to each other. Quite a few locals approached us and were super friendly. Osaka people are quite outgoing and friendly vs the rest of Japan
I am in love of how Cathy look with wigs! Her natural hair is beautiful but that look on the intro and end suits her really well! Greetings from Costa Rica! ♡
Looking at stats, it makes sense, There are only 2% of outsiders in Japan. Also, most people here are not good communicators. Friendship is also different. Many people here only want foreign friends as "trophies".
Underrated comment
disgusting. they should be seen with fear in the world
@@darassylmoniakam wow bro chill out 😅
I have a Japanese friend and a friend who dated a Japanese guy.
For the latter, she was confused how sex was so organized that there was little to no passion. The guy apparently had more focus on cleaning up after sex (scrubbing the floors and folding the cloth) than he did pay any attention to her.
Japanese people are a little bit too nervous while interacting with foreigners. Either talking with or just physically being around. Riding bus/trains or at bus stops, no one wants to stand/sit near me in Japan. And I'm a small 170cm guy with glasses. And all the staring, from adults. Its okay when kids stare, but adults? Just makes me feel uncomfortable.
You aren't alone. I feel you. I usually ask them what they are looking at haahh
It really depends on where you live. I lived south of Nagasaki and old ladies loved sitting next to me and chatted with me on public transport.
My best advice is always offer your seat especially in buses since it's kinda an unspoken rule that you don't sit next to strangers, so even if the seat next to you is free no one will seat there until you offer it to them. Like, if you have a free seat next to you on the bus and an old lady comes on you need to get up and offer both seats and only sit next to them if they tell you it's ok. With younger people you might be ok with just telling them to sit next to you. (I realized Japanese people did this so I thought it was polite and started offering my seat even if the one next to me was free. People REALLY like that and I actually met a very important friend like that).
If people percieve you as kind they might even offer something in return like carrying your things or give you candy 😂 Also if you see someone carrying a lot of bags offer them the seat or to carry their things they will think you are a gentleman
It funny. When I saw japanese being open and even interested to can even try to talk to me in english to can communicate easier. Consider me almost like a friend, it feel strange and even pleasant while thinking the culture was quite unnerve about outsider/foreigners. There are some in the web where they seem very closed in unnerving way, but there are some where i'm seriously surprised and honored to been shown alot of kindness.
Maybe i'm wrong of that idea where japaneses dislike the foreigners, except for business. I can't know, but those who showed so much kindess, I will alway appreciate.
As many years as my husband has worked for a German company, I've never heard him mention anything about the floor/story counting system. 🤯 You learn something new everyday. 🌈⭐ When I worked at the bank and Cinnabon, I came across all types of people. I loved helping them in whatever way I could. 🤗
Oh ?! Where do you live/are you from to have the floor counting system being the same as in Japan ? (Or Japan itself ?)
As far as I know, this is the same across Europe. In France, we don't call 0 floor but RDC (rez-de-chaussée) and above 1st floor, 2nd floor etc.
It actually sounded strange to me when I was a child but I got used to it.
Now that I live in Japan I had to adapt again ! 😆
What an interesting video. Thank you. I have been here for 22 years from America.
I’ve lived in Japan for 2 months, and really feel that most Japanese people are pretty passive in terms of making friends, meeting new people etc. Of course, this is based of my own experience. At the university that I work at, most of the students and other staffs rarely speak to me about things outside of work. Invitations for any activities or meals too, have never happened at all to me 😂 I’m not quite a super extrovert myself, but in Japan I have to actively speak or invite others in order to have a minimal amount of human interactions 😅 hopefully this will change over time though. 💪
discouraging
It’ll get easier i’m sure.
yeah, especially if you are a foreigner I guess they kinda have the expectation that we are gonna be the outgoing ones. I did have a lot of friends at school but I didn't get to hang out with them outside of school in a whole year until I was going home they decided to throw me a goodbye party. I realized they did want to hang out with me but were just too busy or waited for me to take the first step. I suggest bringing small gifts to work (maybe sweets) that will send the message that you are friendly and because Japanese people like to give gifts back they might want to hang out later to return the favor.
Most people that approached me outside of school were nice old ladies 🤓 but maybe that's because I lived in Nagasaki and people down south are known to be more friendly 😂
So cute when Cathy speaks german 😊
Japanese are know to visit foreign countries, but may not like other foreigners to visit theirs, don't you think?
I would guess on that the japanese girl tried to get at "hallo, es/ist gut", yes, it doesn't really make sense in german, but if you do a word for word translation of "genki desuka" you'll end up at that similar to that (add the leading "hallo", and account for the japanese habit to add -o or -u to ending consonants).
Since it gets the point across it is usable enough that people that have heard it before probably would reply with the same for sake of brevity (especially since it also allows for replying with "es/ist gut") and to reduce the "language frustration".
Almost, it was "Hallo, alles gut?"
@@raphaelmuller I'm well aware of that that is the expression, but since the girl being interviewed didn't recognize it I took a guess at what her boyfriend was most likely to say.
Basically another example of that one shouldn't thrust in a spillchecker ;)
@@Herr_U ah nein. Boyfriend seems to have taught her "go away" to have her not meet strangers 😅
First off, the eye catchers in between interviews are back. It’s been a long while I feel. I live in Florida and work on the parks there. There are sooo many opportunities for interactions with foreigners here that I feel like going to Japan it’s gonna be my turn to be sorta touristy and be on the other side of trying to communicate with a language I barely speak. Haha
5:43 maybe she meant ‘was geht?’
great video btw!!😊
No. Quite the opposite. German for "get lost". Boyfriend must not want her meeting strangers.
@@mdml0 I literally accidentally put the wrong timestamp, i have no clue what you’re even talking about?
@@mdml0 wdym with ‘get lost’? she didn’t say ‘verpiss dich’ or something so..
The local lions club would have the odd exchange students, since we are rural any Japanese are surprised at the space, and shocked at the distance we travel just to get anywhere.
Fun fact, first time one Japanese student meet my father, only words she could say was “Sumo”
Which summed up the size of him perfectly, 6”2’ and 300 pounds. 🤣 .
The fish at the end 😂😂😂 !
I couldn't help noticing behind the girls in the beginning..the words CHICAGO. I am from Chicago and is that a store that sells Chicago stuff?
base on my experience, foreigners who are ultra liberal or too arrogant don't last here. Most of them are western people, or australian. We know people like logan paul but there are worse than him here. some ultra liberal are being isolated like my office mate who thinks japan culture is the same as european culture and keep pushing everyone is the same
As an Australian, the behaviour of that person angers me. I hope that we Aussies are not seen as all alike? 😢
Is this a lost episode shot before covid? The recent videos are quite different in terms of editing now, I reminds me how long you guys have come since those days :)
You are definitely right! I'm going off the fact that no one is wearing masks, nor in the background.
1:57 OK,DAM!
6:00 Maybe she meant "Hallo, alles gut?" :D
By the way...german football leagues going from:
Kreisliga (lowest one)
Bezirksliga
Landesliga/Verbandliga
Oberliga
Regionaliga
3 Bundesliga
2 Bundesliga
1 Bundesliga (highest one)
Many of the sentences here end with something that sounds like "di suke do". I've heard it a lot recently. What are they actually saying and what does it mean?
I really want know how Indonesian communicate with japanese in interview content like this, but i never find out which japanese actually have friend of indonesia people in intervew content.
I think she meant „ Hallo, alles gut?“
at work, we are an intercultural group... Indian,German, Japanese, Chinese, Philipine and French
You can erase guys. Btw.. ❤ Love you guys in Ask Japanese.
People get along and mix well in Japan for the most part. Language barrier is probably the hardest. Very few places don't allow for foreigners entry. Like certain restaurants and stuff. But for the most part. Everyone is open armed and cool. Much love to Japan.
She said "Hallo! Alles gut?" or thats what her friend told her
It think Halloasku means Hallo alles gut.
I wish i had some japanese friends

pretty dress cathy. take care.
Those wandering fish can be troublesome. Be prepared Cathy!
I know a very adorable and wonderful German and Japanese speaking Cat reporter and Wonderful Japanese Ninja Cat camera man!😻😻😻😻😻😻😻
Yeah I am pretty sure the girl at 5:53 said "Hallo, alles gut(e)?"
Ah no. Lol it isn't 😆
@@mdml0 doch wenn du genau hinhörst verstehst du es. Es klingt halt eher wie "Hallo arusukute" weil sie es sehr japanisch ausspricht. Ich wüsste auch nicht was sie sonst gesagt haben sollte
Can you ask Japanese what they think about the new Splatoon 3. I know it's popular there but I wonder what makes it so popular in Japan.
Cathy Cat, have you cut your hair?! If so, it looks lovely :)
i think she meant "hallo, alles gut?"
They are nice
なぜ全員ノーマスクか気になる

Hallo,alles gut?Das meint sie.
"Hallo. Alles gut?"のカタカナバージョンではないのかな
floor zero was fun xD
What type of jobs are they hiring in, in Japan. Is it difficult to move over there?
There is a good chance I may be able to visit Japan before 2024 to study abroad. I'm ecstatic about it when ever I get the chance to meet Japanese people where I live and have the chance to converse in a language I rarely get to use otherwise, I cannot help but smile uncontrollably afterwards. Its the greatest thing.
i don't have many interaction with japanese peoples exept on youtube ( because i'm the curious type and want to learn everything from lifestyle to language) but in the past i had some japanese friends! for other foreigner because i'm pretty straitfoward i have many interaction mosty because i'm kind until the other side became *ssholes and at that time i become ruthless and can be pretty violent and sadistic if that's the best way to "stop a conflict" ( i'm a pragmatical man who don't like violence but can use it if needed)!
After i would LOVE to have much more interaction with strangers and even more japanese because they look like to me a little "inprisoned with their country rules ( tate mae)" i just want to understand others and them to understand me, i have a "dream" that i call "the world familly" it's the fact of one day been able to feel like familly with other peoples all over the world, no cultural limitations just "hearts as one!"!
You are gorgeous, have you ever been to India?
I don't know intercross culture happened in Japan is a good thing or a bad things..Japanese culture will be diluted if too much of western culture keep on asserting.
For me , I don't like race card/divisiveness political view supporters fighting each other like hell instead of concerning the unity&constructive rational conversation
wait why is no one wearing their masks. Isn't this the country of the masks??😷😷
If a woman with your kind of dress asked me questions, I would run. These peeps are quite patient.
Their Video title and the content doesn't match.
The stock market has been a really tough one this past months , but I watched an interview on CNBC where the anchor kept mentioning" .. Larry Gary ..." . This prompted me to get in touch with him , and from October 2020 till now we have been working together , and I can now boast of $ 460 k in my trading portfolio.
Crypto is bringing a different revolution in the world economy. People who are optimistic investors earn consistently.... Others will just sit and watch!..
I've always wanted to trade crypto but got confused with the fluctuations in price.
I think investing is easier with proper guidance, especially from a professional it really helps reduce the chances of running into losses. All thanks to Mr Larry Gary He changed my life, I was able to pay off my mortgage.
I also trade with Mr Larry Gary, and i must say he makes money making seem a whole lot easier right now I'm a single parent and i pay the bills comfortably since i met Larry Gary he's absolutely amazing and I'd recommend him for any novice in crypto.
Please how can I get in touch with this man Larry Gary?
Wow. No mask?
For me that's a good sign...or not?!🙂👍🏻
Goddam this voice of the first man is fine
Stop objectifying men. Creep
Why are they not wearing masks?

0 floor ? We say main floor.
I'd 🤣mao if her boyfriend cheated with an italian-german girl, bringing back the axis of power
gotta say it was unsettling, deeply disturbing to hear kathy speak german… not used to that
It's disturbing to hear a German speak German?
Wel... hearing an American speak English is also disturbing, so I guess I can accept that.

I'm tired of losses everyday , I giving up on crypto trading...
I advise you not to trade if you don't have the experience because it is highly risky. That's why I invest with a professional, assigned by a crypto company that trades for me and returns profits on weekly for me and you can invest your Bitcoin and get weekly profits of your investment without any extra fees attached.
The professional is Pilar Ruben,
There is also a daily breakdown of all trade made, so you can understand the process and be able to trade for yourself in the future.
Investing in crypto has been a lucrative way of making money 💰
