School district I grew up in Had a vocational school. We need them in every district. Shop class is a priority too, we learned sand casting and tooling too. After NAFTA the jobs left so they quit teaching the trades. It's messed up. This is partially what Make America Great Again means.
Great job Robbie! I'm so glad that you're inspiring young people to use their hands and not worry about college. Too many young people push their self towards college and end up failing at what they really want in. I'm 78 years old. I've been an entrepreneur since I was 20 years old. I love working with my hands. I've built several businesses. I've had a few failures and a few successes but in general I feel life is a success. If you do it for yourself you can always look back and say I made that. I try to inspire young people to figure out what they want and do it for themselves and not worry about filling out job applications. Thanks for sharing with all those young people.
"don't ever take critisim from somebody you wouldn't take addvice from," was Robbie's statement. The word "wouldn't" being the most important word in Robbie's statement @22:52...
My eldest son is an apprentice mechanic and loves it. The high schools here in Australia aren't promoting trades as much as they used to and the governments (both sides) have cut funding for technical trade collages (called TAFE here) over the last 20 years by heaps. Now, we have a huge trade staffing shortage as not as many young kids have learnt at young age straight from school. I commend you in promoting technical skills with your hands as without them, nothing gets built...ever.
Same here in the USA. Shop classes in High School are the first to be cut. My son was a apprentice for a elevator mechanic for 5 years, and he is now a Journeyman. Will always have a job building or repairing elevators.
At 50 years old, best advice I was ever given, if you can use your Brain and your hands you will never go hungry. You will never replace the person working with their hands.
Robbie I’ve always liked you, your energy and what you choose to share with us. You allow us a brief glimpse into your life. I was genuinely touched by this post. Few know the challenges we all endure as individuals but for those closest to us and our Creator. I mean this sincerely, Respectfully and from the heart. I am PROUD for the family man, father, friend, business owner and role model that you are. Thank you ALWAYS. 🙏
Robby you have really excelled in what you do from watching your first videos to today. You have become an influencer, the most impressive thing is you care about the people around you and the end result. Well done. 🍺🍻
Great job there young man.i am 78,and what you are doing I did back in the 60s . Even as a old disabled Veteran I now work on firearms. God bless you and your great crew, and especially your family. Jerry Cook
Good job! Good video! I too only excelled in shop classes and was not GOOD at school. Went on to build my first house at 21 years old, then 14 more while working full time for a major phone company for 34 years. Never let anyone tell you that you can't do something, you can do anything you set your mind to..
Wow Robby, you did really good, for a guy who says he is not good at public speaking. Every time you speak from experience and from the heart, and you obviously know what you’re talking about, you will always do good. Good job
Robby, your story is incredibly similar to mine. I am happy you are making it happen! Banks seem to not like us Entrepreneurs. My experience has shown me they will be calling you later to ask for your deposits!
I'm sure you have inspired someone to seek a direction that leads to a path that will result in a successful career .... most likely more than one someone. very good speech, Robby.
Robby you also motivate us to be bold and just try it. You also get us to see the potential in others and not judge by what they look like to others. We just get attached to all those in your shop! Good speech!
30:39 you did really well on the talking. I was surprised that you were 35 years old. Been a sub for a while and would have never thought you were that old. Well I’m 56. So you know what I mean. Great job Robby.
Great speech Robbie. I’m a six year college graduate who would much rather have gone to technical school. I have a grandson who I’m steering that way. My son, his dad, is an 8 year Navy veteran who after the Navy went to technical college and Is now a machinist who loves his career and is doing well at it. I’m a testament to the fact that you don’t need a four degree to make a happy life.
How awesome would it be for RL to set up an Apprenticeship Program with local Tech Schools. With all those scrap cars out back, you have plenty material for these apprentices to learn the craft. Who knows, your next work crew may have been sitting right there in that audience.
I’m 74 years old and your presentation inspired me. As much as I enjoy being retired for the past 16 years I believe I just might build myself a burnout car. Seriously, your presentation was amazing!
Don't ever take criticism from someone you would not take advise from. Those are well said words. Getting a good Pro Forma before you start a business is critical so you know how much you have to do everyday. Once you see that you can really decide if you have the dedication to do it.
Total respect for you and your entire crew Brother. I put in a couple decades building high end custom furniture and cabinets. Your work is top end, I’ve done body and paint work too, and have friends in the industry. Been watching from the beginning!! And your alma mater, Wyotech, also launched such Greats as Jessi Combs. Robbie Rocks!!
Keep inspiring the future like this! That Q&A was great and you restating the questions each time you answered is a presentation skill everyone needs to learn.
Robby, that might not have been the best motivational speech ever gut I am 73 years old and it motivated me. Every $ I have ever made in my life was made by my hands. GREAT GREAT SPEACH!!!!!
I learned to use my hands while working as a coal miner. Then I got my machining degree onto becoming a aerospace manufacturing engineer. Been 40 years since coal mining, but I still love to restore classic cars. When I retire I will continue to work with my hands. Loved the message you conveyed
Absolutely agree with your talk and promoting the trades. I’ve followed you since the beginning. I’m 68 years old and my bucket list is to meet you someday. God bless you Robby
That's the real robby Layton he's been taught really well by his own hands, raised up by good parents.. and he's just being honest and real, and that's the real deal. God bless your family and your awesome team
Good job on the speech robby. I'm 35 and been in the trade business all my life as well. Started out framing houses with my dad, now I'm a foreman and run heavy equipment for a living. Honestly you gave me a little different perspective on work and life. Thank you sir and keep on making awesome videos. Started watching 2 years ago and haven't missed one yet
What you do in your videos is amazing but the knowledge you pass along to others is priceless. If one person ends up taking your advice it will be worth your time. Keep offering your knowledge to others as good honest advice will always be repaid.
Yessss !!! Great speach. I'm glad there are still people like you thinking that if you want something; all you have to do is work for it . I'm 78 years old and I still enjoy working and learning. Keep on trucking Robby and your whole crew, you are good people. And the '' little wife '' is awsome too :)
Nice job Robby!
Thank You Matt!

Great speech - the line 'never take criticism from someone you wouldn't take advice from' - solid, excellent advice.
I absolutely agree 100% with your technical school reasoning. Well said and well done.
Without Service and Trade workers there would be no one to do the Work to keep the Country Running
That is true to a certain extent, but we need Scientist’s and Doctors also!
@@davejiannuzzi4160 Yep, but even Scientists and Doctors need tradespeople to do what they do.
Love it. We have to bring back our shop classes in school! I learned more in the shop classes than any other class!

@@intentsmodz Along with the Scientists and Doctors and Engineers and Architects, There are many opportunities for everyone!
I agree, my high school years were a challenge, and auto shop saved me.
I remember right after graduating hs in 2013 I found out the school cancelled the wood shop program, automotive, even ceramics. Total 100% bs
Giving back, support the trades. Keep it real. Well done Robbie.
Amen ! I've been 47 years in the Mechanical/ welding trades.

@tonyprimm3539 - we don't take advice from @rodeofrog6122... therefore don't take his criticism...
Realized during the speech, I was here since day one! Man! Great job!
Me too
Same!
Being a little nervous makes you a great speaker, well done.
