When people check it someone is married it is NOT because they think “maybe I have a chance” or “is she a problem” or any things Fran listed. It’s simply done because when we find out whom a person married (any gender) we think we learn more about them if we see whom they chose to marry because we see what traits and features they liked in a person. Alternatively it helps people understand motivations and reactions of people.
Fran, your self-deprecating sense of humour is not something typical in people from the USA (in my experience) and it is great differentiating feature of your videos. Your accounts on college are very similar to mine. In 1979 after completing 3 semesters of liberal arts education thinking I wanted to be a lawyer I dropped out and enlisted in the US Navy, became and Electronics Technician and found I loved it. That later resulted in my falling into IT and telecom and I've been working in that field for 35 years.

7:10 I totally agree with you on the education part. It's the same for me. And for me these "holes" are sometimes actually pretty challenging to deal with. It can really decrease self esteem from time to time. Especially if you want to do something completely new or earn money with something you are "not credited" for. And it's in parts people not recognising ones capabilities and one not getting enough courage to get / keep going... How did you deal with these kinds of hurtles?
On that front, at least as far as ICT was concerned, I had to eventually admit that I was going to have to knuckle under and get a formal qualification to fill in the gaps and give me a bit of paper to show that I'd done so. Even though very little of what got filled in I've ever needed to use in anger since... and I've learned a whole load of other useful and trasferrable skills that don't even really have any kind of formal certification. Like I'm not aware of any such thing for AudioVisual teching. Not even 100% sure if there's one for sound engineering (beyond the pretty basic, barely high school level one I've always kicked myself for not following through with the application for, 20 years ago), but I bet if there is the prevalence of it amongst professional engs is kinda low.

Your comments about education echo mine. As a child and in to adulthood I have never thought why education is the way it is, that to learn what I want to learn I have to endure things I know I will never use or have need for. As a child this used to worry me until I read A Study in Scarlet and the passage about Holmes skills and Holmes comment when Watson was shocked to learn that his friend knew nothing of the universe to which Holmes replied, what use is that to him? He likened his mind to an attic and should only be filled with that which he needs to know, the clutter of the rest just gets in the way of clear thought. That really hit home to me!

You are so articulate I find it hard to believe. I'm 69 and don't have half your energy. If you are 83, you are a very attractive 83! I was guessing you to be 50.
5:54 I took two years of trade school. My older cousin has 4 years of college and is an electrical engineer. . I asked her one time, "Why take college and learn all these unrelated courses, like history?" She said "Because, they make you more well rounded" I'm not convinced. Also, I've been an electronic tech since 1990. I know more things in certain areas of electronics than a lot of electronic engineers. The real thing that counts is your hard work in life and your willingness to learn new things.

There's nothing stopping you from writing your own Wikipedia page. The restriction is on original research that can't be verified. As a TH-camr you can shortcut the whole process by simply mentioning any fact you wish to include on Wikipedia in one of your videos, then you can cite that video as source with zero research.
Jeez - the Frantone Wiki page is more incorrect than it was before! Seems that people have been adding and deleting stuff on there to the point where it is making me laugh now. Oh well. Indeed, she is 5-6 years older than I, so you are within a year of her correct age. Like you, I suspect many really believe she is 83 now, but Fran is entitled to have a little fun at our expense now and then when it comes to personal details.

2:50 Well... Why is anything of interest to anybody anyways? People watch and listen to you. Say see and hear you. We are all humans in the end and it is not only possible but quite likely that people "bond" with you in a strange monodirectional relationship. You on the other hand only read what we write which would have way less of an effect on you I guess. I think the "relation" dynamics of content creators and their audience is pretty interesting, psychologically speaking. I guess what I'm getting at is that some people might simply care about you and birthdays mean something for some or they'd like to wish you well for yours :) And certainly there are some malicious crazy blokes out there as well.

I just subscribed to your channel, as I too am into electronics and especially vintage stuff that is outdated old world knowledge, etc. Another video led to this one and I just wanted to make a couple comments about thing's you said. As with most other people gave about age or birthdays. People, not all people, but some people who find other people interesting. It is really a compliment moreso than u being a sportscar in the garage or a trophy, etc. Also, people who are into psychology or astrological signs and other personality type information are naturally curious about birthdates, etc. Please don't let it bother you too much. However, you are correct about there being malicious types of people who steal and or sell people's information like other social websites do for a profit, etc. You come across most sincere, intelligent and you have a great sense of humor/wit. So, being in a public forum like this, some people will innocently be interested in you, as a person. I loved your reference to Python, as I'm a staunch fan of dry British and other European humor. I have a large collection of movies and foreign films with subtitles. So your dry wit is very much appreciated! I subscribed right after the Python humor, lol. I'm sure that you could do theater, if you wanted to. I have actually been kicked out of house parties, when I was young, for doing Python skits and verbage or Inspector Clueso, Benny Hill, etc. There are a large majority of people that just do not get it and they prefer wet slapstick humor only and dry humor actually frightens them and they think that there is something wrong with you and or your crazy. So be careful who you share your sense of humor with, as it has been dangerous for me in the past, lol. In the early 80's, I was once driven off a rural farm keg party at gun point! Ever thought about a real job where you get paycheck each week and you have health insurance and a 401k plan for when you get too old to work?? Im sure you work hard at your video production but why not get paid well for working so hard. One day you will get old and you won't have any retirement money or even social security coming in. Something some one your age should certainly be concerned with.
I have nothing against anybody who wants to educate themselves, That said, I too lacked the patience after a short time in college. I wanted to do. I wanted to experience. I hate to say that getting a college degree has little to do with intelligence, but it is true. If you have the time, and the finances, okay. But you still need the discipline and tenacity. I had ability. My employers knew it. I often had fellow employees say I was taken advantage of. But it is terrible to work with engineers, with degrees, some Masters, that were all theory and no application. I hated to deal with them when I had an obvious workable solution, and it was discounted because i lacked a degree. I found some customers equally as arrogant. Argh!

But, you can post a "user page" in Wikipedia that you can write yourself, it won't come up in Google searches but it can be found within Wikipedia searches using "user:" if I recall.

You inspired me to see what Google actually turned up for me. I last did so in the early 2010s when a young singer was the first many pages of results. Now there's an actress as well. I'm happy being anonymous like that, far better than the name I used to have which was very unique.

I only have a Fortress of Squalitude, not enough crap to qualify as an empire. Lost a couple of expedition teams in the box room last year though, and on Monday the loft spontaneously developed sentience.

Fran, I love your channel. Found it on TH-cam about 6 months ago. Lady, there is no way in God's green earth you are 83 years old!! You have so much energy. You are so articulate I find it hard to believe. I'm 69 and don't have half your energy. If you are 83, you are a very attractive 83! I was guessing you to be 50.

I took two years of trade school.
My older cousin has 4 years of college and is an electrical engineer. .
I asked her one time, "Why take college and learn all these unrelated courses, like history?"
She said "Because, they make you more well rounded"
I'm not convinced.
Also, I've been an electronic tech since 1990.
I know more things in certain areas of electronics than a lot of electronic engineers.
The real thing that counts is your hard work in life and your willingness to learn new things.

There's nothing stopping you from writing your own Wikipedia page. The restriction is on original research that can't be verified. As a TH-camr you can shortcut the whole process by simply mentioning any fact you wish to include on Wikipedia in one of your videos, then you can cite that video as source with zero research.

Jeez - the Frantone Wiki page is more incorrect than it was before! Seems that people have been adding and deleting stuff on there to the point where it is making me laugh now. Oh well. Considering the state of the Frantone page I'm actually grateful that there is no Fran page there. I'd likely get sick looking at it.

Well the only Question / Answer that surprised me was your name. I had assumed that "Fran" was short for Frances. Because I think Fran Blanche sounds better than "Frances Blanche".

Indeed, she is 5-6 years older than I, so you are within a year of her correct age. Like you, I suspect many really believe she is 83 now, but Fran is entitled to have a little fun at our expense now and then when it comes to personal details.

People watch and listen to you. Say see and hear you. We are all humans in the end and it is not only possible but quite likely that people "bond" with you in a strange monodirectional relationship.
You on the other hand only read what we write which would have way less of an effect on you I guess.
I think the "relation" dynamics of content creators and their audience is pretty interesting, psychologically speaking.
I guess what I'm getting at is that some people might simply care about you and birthdays mean something for some or they'd like to wish you well for yours :)
And certainly there are some malicious crazy blokes out there as well.

I just subscribed to your channel, as I too am into electronics and especially vintage stuff that is outdated old world knowledge, etc.
Another video led to this one and I just wanted to make a couple comments about thing's you said.
As with most other people gave about age or birthdays. People, not all people, but some people who find other people interesting. It is really a compliment moreso than u being a sportscar in the garage or a trophy, etc.
Also, people who are into psychology or astrological signs and other personality type information are naturally curious about birthdates, etc. Please don't let it bother you too much.
However, you are correct about there being malicious types of people who steal and or sell people's information like other social websites do for a profit, etc.
You come across most sincere, intelligent and you have a great sense of humor/wit.
So, being in a public forum like this, some people will innocently be interested in you, as a person.
I loved your reference to Python, as I'm a staunch fan of dry British and other European humor.
I have a large collection of movies and foreign films with subtitles. So your dry wit is very much appreciated!

I have actually been kicked out of house parties, when I was young, for doing Python skits and verbage or Inspector Clueso, Benny Hill, etc.
There are a large majority of people that just do not get it and they prefer wet slapstick humor only and dry humor actually frightens them and they think that there is something wrong with you and or your crazy.
So be careful who you share your sense of humor with, as it has been dangerous for me in the past, lol. In the early 80's, I was once driven off a rural farm keg party at gun point!

When you say your name, pause between the Fran and the Blanche. The way you say it, even when you slow down, is Franblanche. So, of course it takes several times hearing it for people to wrap their head around it. There is a fancy Latin term for people who have difficulty separating sounds into words and mistake what those words are. For example: "Olive the other reindeer" (who is Olive?) versus "All of the other reindeer".

Ever thought about a real job where you get paycheck each week and you have health insurance and a 401k plan for when you get too old to work?? Im sure you work hard at your video production but why not get paid well for working so hard. One day you will get old and you won't have any retirement money or even social security coming in. Something some one your age should certainly be concerned with.
I have nothing against anybody who wants to educate themselves, That said, I too lacked the patience after a short time in college. I wanted to do. I wanted to experience. I hate to say that getting a college degree has little to do with intelligence, but it is true. If you have the time, and the finances, okay. But you still need the discipline and tenacity. I had ability. My employers knew it. I often had fellow employees say I was taken advantage of. But it is terrible to work with engineers, with degrees, some Masters, that were all theory and no application. I hated to deal with them when I had an obvious workable solution, and it was discounted because i lacked a degree. I found some customers equally as arrogant. Argh!

True, you can't write your own Wikipedia page about yourself, it will get rejected as appearing to be an autobiography (as mind did). But, you can post a "user page" in Wikipedia that you can write yourself, it won't come up in Google searches but it can be found within Wikipedia searches using "user:" if I recall.
