    I have the Tourist. One thing for sure is that you make a lot of friends. When I show up at events less than 1% know what it is. Would I trade it or sell it? Not a chance, my grand children love it and when they know they have to be good all day so they can go with grandpa in the side car the become little angels. It has brought a lot of pleasure to this family

    Hi. Its a totally different experience but not to be worried about. Its not like anything else. The Ural is such a heavy machine as to be a good start for anyone interested in riding an outfit. The chair wheel is very hard to get up in the air. On left hand bends with a UK outfit, you drive round the chair and right handers you throttle off and the chair tries to overtake the bike therefore turning right. In short its a knack and like anything new, you get used to it with having a go.

    @Henricos24 Ural dose not actually sell the machine guns bit they do sell the mount as an assessory. Some friends of mine have them for prop guns. An Army sargent that rides with us has his adapted to fit an M-240. They let him play with that on the base shooting range but he dose not ride with it on the road.

    Brand new gear ups go for about $16,000 in the US. They now have electronic fuel injection, German disc brakes, powered steering, and other cool features. They're also a lot more reliable now without sacrificing their "character"

    the sidecar can be removed from of the bike, correct?

    • @frankmarkovcijr5459
      @frankmarkovcijr5459 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Whether you can use the bike as a solo by depends on what year your bike is a lot of the earlier one you could use it as either or but all of them later ones that they make are all sidecar only by and are unstable if the side car is removed

    Yep, remove two bolts and loosen two, unplug the wires to the sidecar ligt, and you have a solo. Takes less than 20 minutes.

    Doing inflation calculation and adjusting to USD, sounds like they used to cost $13K in today’s money. Add another ten grand to get todays price. No longer the bargain they used to be (but I still want one!)

    Everyone who had a russian bike (or auto for that matter) knows that is anything but reliable ... talking from experience ... mine broke down 4 times in 125 km.
    But the real bat part for Ural is that is very expensive for what it offers.
    And I don't even want to talk about the "finishing touches" which are .... absent.

    Such a far cry from when they employed 1,400 people and they made 600 motorcycles a day I like the old Soviet policy of Full Employment and National Healthcare even the British manufacturers like Triumph could produce 700 quality motorcycles a week and that was back in the 1960s when Norton wife producing Commandos they only produced about 7,000 motorcycles a year and the factory was not profitable and when the government handout money ran out the company went belly-up

    new Ural single's(no sidecar) has paioli suspension, brembo brakes and electric start. Americans could update harleys to meet sound reculations. Always harleys sounds are so loud you cant hear anything but the bike goes 30km/h -_-. Police should arrest everyone who has straight pipes on a fucking harley davidson!

    Hey zaliaselniass, I asked this question of whether the USSR would have won WWII to noted historian and former Chief of the U.S. Army Combat Studies Institute Daid Glantz - His response, "Only about 8% of total Soviet supplies came via Lend Lease and the bulk of those came later in the war. U.S. and British aid was not determinative in Soviet victory. " Me thinks your petty bigotries are showing - Is your screen name a Lithuanian name by any chance ? I'm American by the way, not Russian.

      Sidecar rigs have always been expensive most sidecar's are almost as expensive as the motorcycle that pulls it try pricing and all metal sidecar with shock absorbers and suspension add a break on the side car wheel very important plus color matching to the bike plus the fact that the rig is already together and adjusted and ready to go when you buy a sidecar to hook on a regular motorcycle you have to get brackets welded to the frame of the new bike that's $400 and the installation is another $400 and the guy has to keep the bike for a week to write it and adjust it and ride it adjusted to make sure a track straight and true price a german-style sidecar like a steib all metal Sidecar and see how expensive it is if you buy a used Ural sidecar outfit you can pick some up reasonable with low mileage I have seen so many sidecars for sale that only had three or four thousand miles on it from new my bike was 20 years old when I bought it and had gone through two owners and only had four thousand original miles on it I now have 40,000 miles that I have put on it myself the only Japanese Parts on my bike are the Mikuni carburetors and Mikuni makes excellent carburetors fall of the Soviet built parts are in good working order and this is a twenty-five-year-old soviet-built motorcycle so much for the Russian POS everybody claims it is now if you use the bike and push it Beyond its limitations it will fail very expensive it is not up bikes to go fast on it is a slow bike but it is a go anywhere bike and it goes where Harley's Fear To Tread women who would not ride a regular motorcycle love sidecars they can sleep they can eat they can drink coffee read a book bloop bloop on the cellphone or they want and they see more scenery than just the back of someone's helmet like on a regular two-wheeler the chair makes the bike very stable and slippery conditions don't phase it at all used bikes are very reasonable and a lot more reliable than what people think I love my Ural sidecar outfit it is my favorite motorcycle

    Idiot Russians ought to wear hearing protection at that loud factory. The ought to also update the bikes to, uh, at least 1970's technology.
