You can always add a bit of armour plating (maybe use that PT-76 hull as donor of RHA plates? 10mm of armour should help, although that would stop your BMP-1 from being amphibious), some kind of a/c and replace turret with BTR-82's turret (turret replacement is a thing and the result is called BMP-1AM "Basurmanin"). Oh yeah also some kevlar on the inside (like in T-90M, for example). That's some nice recipe for making BMP-1 into a up-to-date reliable vehicle, sadly it would still have poor armour, but let's be honest, no APC/IFV can reliably survive a 152-mm HE landing near it unless it's war thunder and all the HEs are duds compared to real life ones.
The Soviets really loved their equipment in a way I don’t think we ever saw in the West. They’ve got songs for (that I know of) the BMP, the BTR, and the MI-8. I think that’s neat, because I love the equipment too.

I was a Bradley gunner in the Army. Both the Bradley and BMP are death traps. The BMP is a worse death trap. But I still wanted one, because it can swim without any preparation. Having an APC that is also a boat is so cool.
It actually can't. All BMP versions need initial preparation to cross bodies of water. If you just drove one into a river, it'd sink the same way as the Bradley.

@@PandaMan-xy1heThat's technically correct, but checking doesn't mean much in itself. The quality of the rubber used isn't very good to begin with, and after 20-30 years it's already brittle and crumbling. A simple "checking" may only be enough if your BMP is fresh out of factory level maintenance.

Lemme leave some feedback Krutoy=cool, not cruel. Streletz=shooter, not archer (I know strela=arrow but strelyat'=to shoot and before Peter I the Great the army of Rus had its musketeer infantry called streltsy which is plural for streletz). Hello i am the one who uploaded the lyrics. крутой (Krutoj) can also mean Tough /sharp person, so i translated it as Cruel as it fited better that way imo. It also made more sense in that context for him to be cruel/tough from the war than cool.

@RadoslavKamenov The M2A2 ODS-E's are better than the majority of IFV's fielded by Russia (BMP-2's and some BMP-1's). BMP-3's have better firepower but they don't have the GPS and battle management software of the Bradley. Most BMP-3's also don't have thermal sights for the gunner.

In the finnish army I had the "pleasure" of being transported in a bm2 and my god what an awful ride that was. The crew compartment is straight from hell. Bmp in itself looks wonderful but the cv90 that I also had the pleasure to get in was so much better. Oh man the difference is night and day.

In the finnish army I had the "pleasure" of being transported in a bm2 and my god what an awful ride that was. The crew compartment is straight from hell. Bmp in itself looks wonderful but the cv90 that I also had the pleasure to get in was so much better. Oh man the difference is night and day.
