I really enjoyed listening to Maria tell her story. She may have had eye disease and couldn’t see well, but there was a real twinkle in her eye! You could see why the Captain fell for her.😊
She talked to me briefly in the lobby. Amazing woman with a warm soul. I think, as a musician, there is a lot of energy in that lodge, if I could afford it, I would live there.
I went on a tour of the places in Salzburg year 2016 where The Sound of Music was recorded and with this documentary interview of Kristina von Trapp, I reconnected the real story with the movie much clearly now from the real one..Thanks a lot. Sept 16,2024 I will be in Vienna, nice to reminisce the story of the Von Trapp family.
My husband met and had pizza with Maria Von Trapp in the early 1970s in Ann Arbor, MI. She was not like Julie Andrews, but a rather forceful woman. He enjoyed her very much.
I am almost 70, recently sold my home and bought a tiny home. I just unpacked a box that had my lederhosen and 3 different sweaters from my childhood in Austria. 🙂. (None of my family wants any of them😞)
I wish she would have talked about the whistle and peoples’ misconceptions bc of the movie. People think the captain was so overbearing and blew the whistle to exercise military control over the family. In Maria’s book and maybe Agatha‘s book they talk about how the whistles were used because the grounds were very large, and it was more convenient than yelling to try to find someone. He was a kind and gentle man according to the family. But I sure enjoyed this presentation, it was very well done and she was very engaging. Thank you!!
You all consider the film THE SOUND OF MUSIC as THE story of the Trapp family, you may have been a fan, but there was another film Die Familie Trapp that was really much nearer to the truth.
Just returned from a trip to Switzerland & Austria where i led a group of largely young people in the song Edelweiss on the last night tallent show. Have been a huge Sound of Music fan all my life! Would love to visit lodge in Vermont. Would love to get your dads autograph? Much love from England.

Jesus Christ, the thrill of hope, for a sick, hurting, and weary world-Romans 10:9-10 from the Bible: “That if you confess with your mouth the LORD Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.”

An impressive document that shows us the true life of a family that consisted of strong personalities who braved all storms, but remained standing.

Such a beautiful story! Loved seeing the the real Maria on film. What a wonderful person!
Maria's books are so much better than the movie. Everyone should read the real stories of this wondeful family!

Wonderful. 💜 💜
I stayed at Villa Von Trapp in 2015 in Rupert’s former bedroom. Not as grand as the movie but lovely.
Captain von Trapp was the highest decorated U-Boat Commander in WW1.
Get out of town ! I did not know the von Trapps where a real family. Amazing.
Sound of music was just Hollywood movie, real story is much more interesting, they were quite close family who worked together

Clever. You should register your lyrics with ASCAP.
You lost me with the timeshare scam.
