    Sleeping on the deck in your own tent is the way to do it. I’m not paying for a cabin just to sleep. You’re gonna be on the main deck or lounge all day and they have showers and restrooms. You can take a canoe or kayak for 100-200. Forget about a car. There’s not many roads anyway, which is why they have a ferry in the first place. The chance to canoe camp on the inland waterway is a dream come true. It’s unlimited

    The Alaska Ferry system allows you to bring your car or RV with you on your trip to Alaska. It can seem very expensive but when you are camping and want a family adventure it can be well worth it. Cruise ships are a great way to see Alaska in luxury but you really only get a snapshot experience in each port you visit. Having plenty of time and your own car gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace.

      This seems like everyone is getting massively overcharged. You can take a car on a ferry across the Straight of Gibraltar for like a hundred US bucks. Granted the distance is further from Washington to Alaska, but still.

    You can go on an Alaskan Cruise round trip from Seattle for as little as
    $800.00 per person so taking the Alaska Ferry can seem pricey, but there are people who take the Alaskan ferry to and from Alaska regularly and love it.

    If I can’t sleep in my own camper with my pup, I wouldn’t consider it. In Europe they have sleeper train ferries. The trains run onto them and you can opt to go up to the ferry deck or exit the train and stay down on that level stretching your legs & wandering around - or just stay on the train and sleep.

  • @TJDuffy-ip3ue
    @TJDuffy-ip3ue 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    And...you can pitch a tent on the deck for free, or sleep anywhere on the passenger level you want.
    There are also public showers and restrooms. so it's a nice no frills alternative to get to Southeast Alaska.
    Food is not that great. Bring your own.
    If the Columbia still runs to Bellingham, that is the nicer, bigger ferry.

    Alaskans rely on this service for their lively hood, its a fkn shame Non Alaskans flood our blue canoes to the point we struggle to get our vehicles from town to town for shopping and supply gathering. Be really cool if the State designated a row on the boats reserved for Alaskan's coming to and from HOME.
