Florida is similar. There are more rules about ponds if you live in a wetlands area. I think it's mostly for livestock ponds, and not ornamental ones, and it's different depending on which county you live in.
In my case there is no regulations, no inspections and none of that stuff to worry about. I do worry about the house falling down around me as there is no regulations, no inspection, and almost all government officials can be bought off.
We will have fencing ..as you say for peace of mind… and even if folks aren’t thinking about fencing around the finished product…as I was building…the last thing we needed on our farm was a hole being dug without some sort of fencing to keep people or animals from falling into the hole.
I was too worried my council would say I need a fence, so I didn't ask 😉 Do you get bees and wasps hanging around your pond all summer? there are heaps of them every day drinking from my ponds, so I wouldn't be game to swim in mine even if it was big enough!
😂 well you know I love bogs. There’s loads of great ways to filter water. Most of them don’t deal with nitrates. In my ponds I don’t need water changes to dilute nitrates. Of course I’m lazy and my ponds are lightly stocked. So if I were overstocking or wanted to fatten the fish up quick it would be a filter I would consider, still probably in addition to a bog.
@Ozponds they are strictly a mechanical way of sifting all the incoming debris out of the water. Not going to give the benefits of your bog/wetlands method, but they do provide for less debris like leaves or grass chippings. I think your methods are the best. I just hate cleaning pump intakes
Seeing this pond genius is so inspiring! Thank you for taking the time to helps us along our journey into pond-smithing. ❤
Great info Kev 😁👍
You are to ponds what Father Fish is to aquariums by keeping it natural 👊
Great info! I've not actually given any thought to regulations as I only have a tiny, shallow pond.
Kev, thank you, that was an excellent introduction before undertaking this type of project.
Glad it was helpful. 👍
good advice
Thank you Kev for another informative video. I love your pond.❤😊
Thanks Suzanne.
No additions, corrections, or questions. I'm only commenting to feed the algorithm monsters before tapping the thumbs 👍 button....

People always ask me and it’s impossible to know what regulations are what/ where. It would be nice is govts encouraged them, but I’m biased 😉.

I see them more around the streams they like the shallow water, come for a drink.
I want a rec pond so bad ❤
Kev what are your thoughts on rolling drumb filters?
I think they are good for certain situations.
@@Ozponds lol short and sweet.

There ya go. Not what I was thinking of. I check the pumps in my intake bay once a year. That’s not too bad.
Youre the man
❤awesome advice!!!
Here in the UK we're lucky we don't have to ask permission well certainly for back garden ponds
Great watch as always, thank you. Make a great weekend !
Cheers Dave 👍
Aww Come on Kev! Stop Bull dusting everyone! We all know the FIRST thing you do is Ask your Wife! Stop ruining marriages.

Begging for forgiveness is easier than asking for permission.
