You two are awesome!! My fav WH is of course the All-Star; eggs over easy, hashbrowns, bacon with fat rendered, but not crispy, raisin toast, and instead of a waffle, biscuits and gravy. The first thing is to cut up the eggs and mix them with part of the hashbrowns. And put ketchup on the other part of the hashbrowns. B&G for desert...LOL. It is a warming comfortable meal.

I still consider Waffle House to be a Southern chain since it was founded in Georgia and the vast majority of its locations are in the South. I just love the fact that a government agency (FEMA) uses a thing called the Waffle House Index. For those who don't know, it's used when determining how dangerous a storm is based on the performance of Waffle House locations. It has three levels, Green, Yellow, and Red. If Green, it means the restaurant is open, full menu, has power, and has minimal damage. If Yellow, it means food supplies are running low or the power is either out or powered by a generator. If Red, it means the restaurant is closed and this means severe damage or flooding.

I do wish you guys would come to the Atlanta area where I live to try such restaurants as the soul food restaurants in the Auburn Avenue area, Merry Mac’s tea room, The Vortex, Fox Brothers and City Lights BBQ, and Grindhouse Killer Burgers. Also you need to see what he thinks of the following restaurants not just in the Atlanta area: Uncle Maddio’s, Mellow Mushroom, and Blaze (all three Pizza joints), Farm Burger and Bad Daddy’s Burgers, and Ted Turner’s Grill (if he hasn’t introduce him to a Buffalo or Bison burger or meatloaf).

For me, American breakfast is about one thing: eggs with runny yolks on top of some sort of potato (hash browns/american fries/skillet) and the runny yolk makes a sauce for everything. So good 👍👍

Fun fact: the National Weather Service has a Waffle House index for the strength of severe storms. If a Waffle House in the area actually closes, you know mud is hitting the fan for a nasty storm.
When traveling, we always seek out cheap motel with WH next door. We love sitting at counter and watching the cooks and hearing the orders called out. So fast so organized. Unique, fun experience.

Definitely try another one! I drive around the US a lot, and I always stop at Waffle House when I can. I've been to them in probably 8 different states, I personally have never had a bad meal at any of them. I always get a large order of hash browns, covered (melted cheese), chunked (diced smoked ham), diced (grilled tomatoes), and peppered (jalapenos). Side of bacon and toast. We don't have any near where I live, so it's a special treat for me when I'm out on the road.
It is called the "Awful House". You gotta get the All Star breakfast there if it is your first time going. Also in the south, if the Awful House is closed for weather, you should be in an underground bunker. They don't close for any weather🤣🤣🤣
They don't list everything on the little menu. They sometimes will show you a bigger menu. My favorite is a simple cheese omelet that comes with sides--I always get toast (sometimes raisin toast) and cheese grits. 🙂 Simple but perfect.
There are secret tricks to some of the menu items. For example, with the eggs you want to get the cheesy eggs scrambled. This is arguably the best way to get the eggs as the cheesiness is legendary good. The bacon is best getting it burnt as slightly blackened bacon has a lot more flavor if given that extra time to cook. The hashbrown you can get double orders of the addons which is a definite way to boost the overall quality of the hashbrowns. Double covered/double chunked is my preferred method. As for the toast, I recommend you get the raisin toast as its vastly better than most toast out there. You will also not find it as some restaurants so when you do find it you got yourself a winner. If you get the waffle with chocolate you want to get it with whipped cream and allow the chocolate to melt on the waffle a bit so each of the chocolate bits will provide a gooey chocolate goodness which when combined with the whipped cream is absolutely delicious. If you are needing to eat in a rush then get the skillet bowls as they are typically an item you can finish off in under 20 minutes. If it takes longer then get it in a to go box for later.
I love that Alessio enjoys a good old American breakfast. It really is delicious and can’t be beat. I would put the American breakfast at the top and with the same yumminess as a Turkish/Middle Eastern breakfast.
There are so many different ways to eat grits. I learned a new way watching this video. My favorite way is heavy pepper, no butter, no salt and instead get saltiness from crumbling up bacon into the grits.
Alessio, I'm curious what you think about how the servers yell orders to the kitchen. Also, know that WH really comes alive in the middle of the night in more metro/populated and dare I say Urban areas. Especially after the last movie is shown for the night or when the clubs close.
Another good thing about WH is they are not cheap, and they hand you one tiny napkin; there is always a napkin holder at each table. ... I grew up and on cold days I would get tomatoe soup and Grill Cheese Sandwitchs for a quick lunch. ... I worked nights a long time, and them being open 24/7/365 just make them perfect ... But be sure to take him to IHOP is a great breakfast as well.
When a friend of mine that I would go out to eat with would ask where should we go out to eat at....sometimes I would say, I don't know. Her reply was, how about a big girls breakfast at Waffle House? So in my mind the All-star special will forever be the big girls breakfast! Yummy 😋

Pecan Waffle, eggs over medium, Hash Browns with onion and cheese, wheat toast, sausage patties, maple syrup on waffle. You can get an extra egg, and extra hash browns for an absolute feast!
Alessio have you heard Italians put hard boiled eggs in their recipe . I watched a show with nonna Gina and she made two different recipes for her family one either eggs and one recipe regular . Is this some thing you do in the north ?

Waffle House is pretty much Southern if not for the menu for the institution it is in those states. That said, the only ones I've been to are in NE Florida.😄 I visited a friend there and when he picked me up at the Daytona Beach airport the first place we went was a Waffle House. I loved it! The food was tasty and cheap. Plus the whole vibe just seem to fit. Much better than Denny's here in California.

The first Waffle House was opened in Avalon Estates, Georgia, so technically Southern, but most of the stuff I see on a Waffle House Menu you can get in most Breakfast (Especially Southern Breakfast) restaurants. - Cracker Barrel, Denny's, Perkins (if there are any left), and most places that bill themselves as a "Breakfast Diner" will have similar food to Waffle House.

I used to have really long hair in a ponytail. My wife overheard the WH waitress say "well, that'll give ya something to hang on to".
Alessio, I'm curious what you think about how the servers yell orders to the kitchen. Also, know that WH really comes alive in the middle of the night in more metro/populated and dare I say Urban areas. Especially after the last movie is shown for the night or when the clubs close.
Another good thing about WH is they are not cheap, and they hand you one tiny napkin; there is always a napkin holder at each table. ... I grew up and on cold days I would get tomatoe soup and Grill Cheese Sandwitchs for a quick lunch. ... I worked nights a long time, and them being open 24/7/365 just make them perfect ... But be sure to take him to IHOP is a great breakfast as well.

Did you know that waffle house uses their own brand of coffee beans. Our waffle house use to sell them by the bag. I still have some in my freezer
When a friend of mine that I would go out to eat with would ask where should we go out to eat at....sometimes I would say, I don't know. Her reply was, how about a big girls breakfast at Waffle House?

Waffle House IS a Southern thing. It started in 1955 in the Atlanta area. My favorite is the 'smothered and covered'. (hashbrowns with everything on it)
Smothered and covered is just onions and cheese. Everything is called All-the-way.
That is my childhood right there!
Pecan Waffle, eggs over medium, Hash Browns with onion and cheese, wheat toast, sausage patties, maple syrup on waffle. You can get an extra egg, and extra hash browns for an absolute feast!

Alessio have you heard Italians put hard boiled eggs in their recipe . I watched a show with nonna Gina and she made two different recipes for her family one either eggs and one recipe regular . Is this some thing you do in the north ?

The combining of different foods into one bite, makes them very American. That bite looked amazing.
🤌 Can never go wrong with a bacon and egg breakfast and a great cup of coffee. I don't eat out much. We don't have a Waffle House here in Australia. But, I'd give it a try for sure. :)

Waffle House is pretty much Southern if not for the menu for the institution it is in those states. That said, the only ones I've been to are in NE Florida.😄 I visited a friend there and when he picked me up at the Daytona Beach airport the first place we went was a Waffle House. I loved it! The food was tasty and cheap. Plus the whole vibe just seem to fit. Much better than Denny's here in California.
I like that Alessio doesn't constantly talk down on American foods, there is another couple American wife and husband from Calabria Italy and he constantly putting down everything American. Glad Alessio doesn't act this way, other dude also acts like he needs his man card taken. My mother was born in Marcianise Italy about 20 miles from Naples and she likes watching you as well

The first Waffle House was opened in Avalon Estates, Georgia, so technically Southern, but most of the stuff I see on a Waffle House Menu you can get in most Breakfast (Especially Southern Breakfast) restaurants. - Cracker Barrel, Denny's, Perkins (if there are any left), and most places that bill themselves as a "Breakfast Diner" will have similar food to Waffle House.
