- Six years ago, China’s President Xi Jinping announced plans for a new city, Xiongan, 100 kilometers from the capital.
Originally pitched to ease some of the pressure on Beijing, Xiongan gives authorities a chance to experiment with creating an ideal futuristic city.

I loved this video! What an amazing dream to have, and no matter how many blinded people slate China's massive construction boom with so many new towns and cities being built... well they are nothing because the truth speaks for itself.
We are told the bleak stories of the people who lost their homes, and that such cities are only built for the rich. But, what I see is hundreds of thousands of jobs and new opportunities for so many people who are ready to do the hard work to create them.
China's government will figure it out regarding these rural people. They are poor in one generation and were living in dead, not thriving towns as they had hardly any opportunities and no real promise of a future for the children.
But, in several generations those poor families will be in stable jobs and moderinised living conditions with greater access to services, and more.
FYI, I have been to several of these old post 1950 Chinese towns. They are places I rather not live in, and some are even so run down I wanted to leave them quickly! China has ancient towns that still retained their charm and culture, even after so long they stand so beautifully with the spraw of ugly development around them from the cities that formed nearby.
So, with a city that has promise, well I love that Idea!
I have seen the expansion to Kunming City in China as well. Let's just say that I couldn't even comprehend the scale of development as more that thirty (estimated) towns have been amalgamated into one blurring of area to expand the boundaries of the city. These towns are in development and many of the older houses will be demolished in times and what was once a town will become a district within the city.
Try driving along one long straight road for 1 hours where all you see is urban spraw and the amalgamation of towns. WOW!
I want to visit Xiong'An someday and see what they have there. Exciting times ahead.

I don't think so mainly because most young Chinese don't have time or energy to have kids because of a lot of work pressure. I am Indian in Germany with many Chinese friends they told me after working so hard they won't have motivation or energy and feel burned out, and sure it does makes sense. Maybe China should relax work a bit and reduce costs of raising Children then it might improve a bit. Also because of one Child policy people are soo engraved to have just one kid, it will take couple of generations change....but still its better not to give up. Some improvement in rates is better than decline
