  • In this second instalment of Bluegrass Licks, we'll dive into a more modal set of licks, in the key of G. We'll focus on licks played over the G, D & F chords, while looking at how to link and transition between the chords.
    Full lesson & tab: pickinlessons....
Our example chord progression is the old standard 'Little Maggie', but there are many great tunes and songs that feature the F chord in the key of G. For the advanced picker, this lesson will get the ideas under your fingers - and with some practice, you'll be cuttin' the 'grass in no time!

His name is Zayne and has loved guitar since his birth. He’s 2 years young but is more like a 4 year old in wisdom. Thank you again, Sir!

Hello good sir, I commented on lesson 1, and am working Thru lesson 2. Each day I practice I get a bit smoother and make fine tune adjustments. I’m starting to get the hang of this. My 2 year old nephew in NYC loves the progress, which I know will take patience and practice (lots of it.)
Thanks for all you are doing, good sir! From So. California , USA

I am really excited to have come across this channel. Excellent lessons, just great! I also really love it that you're playing a Santa Cruz D/PW. I have to ask, though ~ what is that shiny dot that's visible through the sound hole? Is it a small microphone or a pickup of some kind?

Thanks! It’s a mic as part of the pick up installed. Not used in the video…sounds great live, when needed. K&K Trinity.

Gret teacher, already learnt so mucj in first 30 mins. Im fairly experienced gultarist (15 years) and bliegrass has alwasy eluded me. I am still fidin the pace and timing an issue. Does anyone else find this going from other genres onto BG?

Bluegrass is certainly a hard genre to play on the guitar. Very different approach to rock or similar styles.

@@pickinlessons thanks for getting back to me! I’m definitely going to have a hard look at them! I’m going to try to find one fairly local to me so I can have a listen to see if it’s “the one”! Cheers!😊
