Did you end up finding out why the Teflon tape was included ? My thought is possibly if the hose wasn't as thick as yours and you need to give it more girth maybe ?
Thank you for this video. I have a Craftsman 50 feet 5/8 inch rubber garden hose and the male side fell out. I tried putting it back in on it's own, but it will not stay in. Just ordered the kit. I am hoping that this will work. I don't want to pitch the hose out since that is the only thing wrong with the hose. Every thing else is like brand new. Purchased it new back in 2022
Sorry for the delay! It was a Kobalt PVC cutter (#0150994) but Lowes has an updated model now for $13. www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-1-1-4-in-PVC-Cutter/1002600024
You could of sprayed WD-40 on the inner hose and found another tip at hardware store for $2 and used a car hose clamp. I just thought of it while watching this.
Absolutely. Dish soap or WD40 would have helped slide it on for sure. A hose clamp will definitely work too but may cut you when your hands are wet and soft. Thanks for commenting!
Try using soapy water to get the barbed fitting on if you struggle getting it to seat all the way!
this is JUST what i needed!!!!
I hope it worked for you!

Hopefully it will work for you too and not have to buy another 50ft hose. Good luck!
@@livingon80 I received the kit this afternoon, and put it on. It works again. Thanks to you, I didn't have to purchase another hose.
awesome!!!
Thanks!
Hot soapy water and it goes right in
100% thank you!
When fixing a hose, do you use a male connector for a spray or sprinkler?
The hose repair kits usually have both types of fittings, male and female.
What was the cutter you used ? I don’t have one of those
