When I was in Italy the hotel served antipasti and greens with breakfast, I thought that was very strange being from the states but now I enjoy that same meal, some mozzarella and salami and sald.
That’s the so called Continental Breakfast, served in Hotels to cater to many foreigners who prefer salty food even in the morning

No that is atypical.
So-called Continental Breakfast is invariably a carb-fest.
Probably the best breakfast of all.
Basically meat, veg, & cheese. Maybe some fruit & nuts.
Light years better than cereal and milk.

This is the fun part of having different cultures around the world. Some countries will eat for breakfast soup, rice, fish, a bunch of meat, a simple croissant, some savory sandwich, fruits, eggs, bacon, pancake, some naan.... and this must be like 5% of all countries, there's probably way more lol

When growing up in a Southern Italian family, for breakfast qe had un caffé latte and a cornetto and when my northern cousins came they called the cornetto brioche. 😊
I am so going to enjoy breakfast if I visit Italy. 😀I am Canadian from a Portuguese family so we don't really eat a meal for breakfast (lunch is our largest meal). Mostly coffee with a little bread and cheese in the morning and I am good to go.
B0mba alla crema is the best thing ever and it's one of the things I miss the most since my mom passed away.
I couldn't go back to Roma ever since but I miss my second home so much.

Italian wheat and sugar, even processed, is superior to American wheat and sugar (which is adulterated and the sugar is often cheaper quality because the Feds made it cheaper to export the good stuff 🤦♀️).
Sugar was long used as a digestive, mixed with carbs (yes, even processed) and other good ingredients to give long lasting (yes, I know, it’s contrary to “modern” sensitivities, but it worked for ages so 🤷♀️) energy and an appetite for lunch, which would often be large, cooked, and filled with protein.
This led to a nap, followed by, once again, long lasting energy, and after a little supper, a good night of sleep.
Adding crap to American wheat, and harvesting right after spraying glyphosate as a desiccant (but also means round up being systemically taken up into the wheat berry and unable to be washed off), had led to terrible consequences for American wheat eaters.
The Pasta Queen is right about what is just fine to have for breakfast.
Yep. May have to skip colazione when in Sicily for our honeymoon. I miss being able to eat a cornetto w/café. I love the food in Italia, but will definitely have to compromise my diet to enjoy it. That type of food is easier on the tummy in the morning, especially when drinking an espresso drink. All of the B&Bs serve sweets for breakfast, so it's interesting to see the people, from various countries, complain about no savory breakfast items. Expected them all to be from USA or UK, but that was not the case. Grazie mille for sharing Pasta Regina.
Us Brazilians also love cake for breakfast and it should honestly be everywhere
Few things relax me like your cooking videos.
I think that both the italian style, Sweet and light breakfast as well as the heavier american breakfast Have a valid place in the morning depending on the circumstances. Italian style doesn't really help a lot when you have a long day of strenuous work ahead of you.

You would love breakfast in Mexico then. Even in the US. Many eat sweet bread with coffee in Mexico and in the US there is Hotcakes or waffles with coffee. Eggs and bacon is just if you’re been a good person lately.
I just eat leftover dinner for breakfast, but always make sure it is high protein and low carb. Nothing worse than carb loading before I sit in a chair for half the day.

Where there is sun and the mediterranean sea you cannot eat bacon, eggs or soup, rice and tofu. It is nature that indicates, I would say. What do you think? As a south eastern european woman, I also eat sweet breakfast intuitively.
Why does nature indicate that? This breakfast topic has always interested me, because I've always had sweet things and carbs for breakfast but ever since becoming an adult I've felt guilty about it because I think I'm sabotaging my health, because of not having mostly protein instead. But I ALWAYS crave sweet in the morning (I'm from Spain, but I ve always thought that I crave sweet because I was raised eating sweet breakfast). Is there actually some science behind that mediterranean thing? I've also noticed that more northern looking people (blond, pale, blue eyes, tall as fuck) seem to reeeeally love meat, especially red meat.

Italians eat anything that Lionfield would approve for breakfast.
It's a healthy breakfast. I usually have coffee and a slice of plain whole meal bread (home made), with some yoghurt. Never understood the big breakfast eaters.

Okay I'm dumbfounded. They tell us to have some sort of protein and healthy carb for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Homegirl is having coffee and cake in the morning for breakfast and she looks healthy. When I went to italy, everyone there was incredibly healthy looking. What the actual heck is going on
They eat carbs on top of carbs and then extra carbs and when you think it’s finally enough …no your guess is wrong .. more carbs till the skin and fat folds on the body are sagging .
