I am a Linux noob that changed a week ago. I tried using Nobara as my first distro because it looks a lot like windows and different youtubers said its the best for gaming but my experience was totally horrible. I kept having graphical glitches on the desktop environment and maybe it was because it was my first time ever installing linux i found it quite hard following the guides that i found and did not understand anything. I moved on to Linux Mint following your guide and ive been able to set everything up that I need and my experience on mint has been way better and less frustrating from a complete noob perspective. I might eventually go back to nobara because i really liked the theme and UI but for now Linux Mint is working fine and im enjoying myself.
Edit: I also had issues with my mic+audio interface setup. pipewire really confused me at first but i figured it out eventually. I also have very recent hardware and thats probably a cause of my issues which i didn't know at the time.

Do not use Wayland, but rather go to CachyOS you will be impress, particularly in gaming. Developers of CachyOS probably so much hate Microsoft that they want prove that Linux is fastest in gaming then Win10 an Win11, in some new titles as like Sons of the Forest or Starfield, there is no differences between Windows and CachyOS, good luck.

If you liked mint and find it able to do whatever you need, you can change it's theme to something may suit your taste, the Cinnamon desktop (Mint's desktop) is customizable, and you can change everything from the menu to the taskbar, to the windows icons, you can search in youtube and see for yourself
      I'm also a noob btw

Do you use a Nvidia card? If you are, how new is it? I have a RTX 4070 Super and the Wayland display server glitches to much with my card in Plasma 5 and 6. So I mostly use the X11 display server until ut gets better. I'm on OpenSuse Tumbleweed, I got both display servers and a few window managers installed. But I think some problems will be tje same no matter what distro.

welcome aboard :) I also started with Mint and it is a better one for learning how to use Linux. Also, you picked a bit of a rough time to come to these distros that use more bleeding edge software (like fedora and nobara). That is because the Wayland has just been implemented, it's a new and cool display controller, but that is still having a lot of issues with, well, a lot of thing - these are probably the graphical glitches you mentioned. These things will be worked over time and soon you will also know a bit more so do give it a go later if you're still curious, though Mint is also a perfect place to stay for the long run ;)

I spent a month trying Mint, Nobara, Kubuntu, LMDE, Ubuntu.
A lot of progress has been made but still many problems in games and what annoyed me the most is very problematic when it comes to OBS and streaming.
On one distro, the sound does not work, the second has graphical errors, and the third does not work hotkeys, on the fourth one there is no h 265 codec.
OBS use more then 3% of CPU just in idle mod /Widows 11 use only 0.1% while streaming.

Great video! I've never used linux, but really wanting to move away from windows. Getting really sick of Windows going downhill in quality and pumping the OS full of stupid shit running in the background and bloatware stuff in the OS. I've been eyeballing Garuda and Nobara (and possibly Mint) recently. I really like the way you describe things and with such honesty. Between Garuda and Nobara, which do you like more? Or is it one of those situations where you can't really go wrong with either? Both seem really cool to learn and use! I have a laptop that I could use to experiment around with Linux, but I wanted to ask your opinion with both of those distros. I mostly do gaming, music listening (i'm an audiophile), and a bit of content creation with using stuff like photoshop and sony vegas. Linux to me has been getting more and more enticing for me over the years with how much better support Linux is getting and how worse Windows is getting.

Used Nobara for my first year on Linux and my experience has been... inconsistent.
Games worked without much tinkering, but minor issues kept popping up whenever I tried to do something new (be it video editing, customizing, whatever) until I eventually ended up reinstalling entirely with the KDE version of Nobara instead, but had an even worse time with the aforementioned issues.
I've since switched to Pop OS with Gnome. 2 months in and I've had a far smoother experience here; it just seems much more polished and quality controlled, and the higher amount of documentation helps. I'd recommend this over Nobara for new users tbh.

Recently moved over to Nobara, and yea definitely not a fan of the package manager. Ran into an issue where the older 0.9 version of goverlay just magically disappeared in RPMfusion when I was trying to downgrade since vkbasalt was removed from its gui in the latest version. Thankfully my vkbasalt config still works since global enable was already set up prior to Nobara updating goverlay to 1.0. Aside from that and a few other niche annoyances, its rock solid. I'll prob end up going back to Garuda Gnome though just for Arch's AUR and pacman.
