You missed a really awesome keyboard shortcut for the linking: just tap >> and you get a list of notes to link. Extremely quick and easy
I agree, a combined notes, reminders and calendar app would be the business.
That will kill like 10% of the whole app store lol
And what would be the problem? Apps for customers needs, and not te opposite 😉
Problem would probably be Apple not being able to take that tax from developers in the App Store, Apple purchases and subscriptions for third parties probably make up a significant amount of income for Apple@@cogamer

With access to the other , like adding a calendar event with a phone number, note sheet, and reminder all in 1 seamless integration…
For linking to notes, it‘s much easier to use the >> shortcut, rather than the long-winded way shown in the video

Very helpful indeed. Thx. But I’m confused why Apple didn’t just add a “copy link” to note option, when viewing the note you want to link to. Would have made it much easier, especially for linking to older notes.
Notes certainly has been getting some development love! Thanks for this, and as someone who _does_ copy and paste code into Notes, this is very handy.
The whole add links, contacts, PDF integration is just amazeballs 🤩 been a while coming, but glad all this has been finally included, and done _really_ well 👍
What about formatting- text color changing? Have they gotten around to that? Including preset text color preferences in executing Apple shortcuts with Notes? Sigh

Dang iOS17 might be my favorite version so far, so many features they’ve implemented that I can actually find a use for, it’s great

For changing text to block quotes, you don’t need to highlight the text first to convert to a different format. As long as the cursor is at the end of the sentence, you can simply tap the “Aa” and then the format you want and it will convert that paragraph automatically.
I really wish that Apple would give us the ability to alter column widths, in tables in notes

Thanks so much for another great video. I like several of the new features, but the linking one grabs my attention. I can create master notes linked to others (as you did with recipes) and pin them to create an index. Very useful.
Can you pinch zoom in/out in Notes?
The notes app is great on iPad as well because of the ability to quickly launch a note from the off/locked screen. It has various options like creating a new note every day, or opening the last open note etc.
One thing stopping me adopting it for more of my notes (outside of quick capture) is that there is no app on Windows and I need my core notes to be everywhere. So I do quick capture with the pencil on my iPad mostly, and longer term stuff I put into OneNote neatly organised and tweaked a bit.
The code block support is neat but most SDE I know usually use a text editor like VSCode or VIM to store notes related to code. And we use Quip for document collaboration, which also has code block support.

Loved the info since I use notes all the time and was totally blown away when I saw the fountain pen tool - I never knew there were more markers to use! I love using fountain pens for cursive writing so the Apple Pencil just opened up a new way to take notes. The default blue color on the dark mode background is stunning! 🥰 🖋️ 📝
Just curious. Why would a combined app with Notes, Reminders, and Calendar be desirable, vs better integration between them? For example, reminders that have a date would show up in calendar, notes could have a toggle to show a certain note in reminders, and so forth.
Really nice an informative. The 'link to note' option is a great addition but it doesn't transfer over to the Mac version. I just get grey text with the option to convert the link to text. Should this be working?
Thank you so much for the overview of the updates. I use Notes every single day. I like that it has more functionality. I would like to be able to adjust the font size for use with my students that have visual impairments. So far I can only use the header font to access larger sizes. I wish we could adjust the font sizes in the body of the note using point sizes vs the one size header option.

Thanks for making this good overview video; there are new items and some changes that I was unaware of, until watching. Apple Notes is my primary notes app, and the improvements over time has been why it is the note apps for me. I will state that I would not wish to have the combo app of Notes, Reminders, etc. I've come to realize that in terms of avoiding mental clutter, that some apps should stay standalone. Also, I use some other apps, both first- and third-party ones, that are also single-function apps that do what they do well without added complexities that make the bloated. That's my take; who knows if such a combo app might appear and blow me away, but we'll have to see. Love your videos; keep on!
The improvement to mono style text is a surprisingly useful feature. I am a designer and developer and use Notes for both disciplines.

I’d love to see Notes support markdown format. They are getting closer with similar items like block quote. Love to at least use markdown syntax and it convert to notes view. Still a great app that I use daily. Thanks for the video review!
I’d be fine with slash commands as well. Notes app is t very keyboard friendly on desktop. A lot of things (like bullets) have no shortcut

It's CMD+Shift+7 on iPad to create a bulleted list. Not on my Mac to try it but won't be surprised if it's the same on there

I’m loving the greater versatility in ios17 regarding pdf and notes etc. I just wish that I could use the Apple pencil with the iphone. Fingers just do not make the best drawing tools, particularly on small screens

Finally code blocks in notes! This will be amazing for me. I often have ideas for implementations or just want to copy some code from somewhere into my notes. This will make it much more readable.

iOS as I switch platforms about every 2 years and have had One Note since about 2013. However, I don't think there is a way to access. Notes from Android?
Can you add more pictures to existing PDF files?
You can also insert internal Notes links by typing two right arrows (>>) to bring up a menu. Super handy.

Big changes to be sure. But, you still can’t change the color of the text in notes unless I’ve missed something very basic.

You'll be able to when you update to MacOS Sonoma (out on Monday). So there's this weird limbo week where the operating systems are out of date.

HATE the pdf thing. To just view a document you now have to click pull down, click the eye icon and then move the damn menu out of the way. Previously I could just touch it and flick through the pages in full screen. This is all about editing documents. Something I rarely do. Also, all my previously saved pdfs are different size pages now for some reason. All in all I wished I could go back to the previous version
Thank you for the video, I think the linking to other notes is a big bonus. The reason is I have 165 notes and they are in folders, but I think cross links would be an added bonus. Second Brain? Notes is by far the one app that holds all the stuff that I simply cannot afford to forget. It’s a brilliant app and I love it.
Can you change the size of an image in notes? Currently, I only see thumbnail size or large full width sizes😢
question? is there a reason when adding your own ringtones, they just stay in ringtones an not shared across the board like for "tones" and the others.....is it a gltch or a bug? I've upgraded to IOS 17, and my custom ringtones are just in ringtones and nothing else....
Hi Tom. When I search within a note, the search takes me to where the search string appears, and colours it yellow. Great. But if there are multiple occurrences of the search string in the note, I can't seem to find a way to jump to next, etc. What am I missing!! 🥴

2:03 the autofill rocks rocks. Add more autofill options please Apple. Hopefully Text Replacement will move from system settings into notes as an option to autofill.
Better and better. Internal links was one of my big “gotta haves”. Now if they’d make it possible to highlight and/or color text in iPadOS I could give up my third party subscription notes app…
It's weird that we can't use the pen highlighter to highlight text, maybe in next years update we will be able to mix ink and text a bit more. Right now they are distinct sections within each note

I’ve been waiting forever for them to add the capability to change the color of text! I was really hoping this was going to be one of the changes. It’s been available on the MacOS for a long time, but I’ve been waiting for them to move it to the iOS version. Whenever I’ve needed to change the color of my text, I’ve had to open it on my Mac, change the color and then go back to my iPhone or iPad.

My ios17 removed my formatting options on notes app. I can’t change the heading format. Only bold, italic, underline and strikethrough. The “Aa” is gone from the bar. What’s that about???
