Thanks! The headlights are stock. I think they changed them around 2007.

I want a 7in apple car play screen where yours is . I found a system on amazon for $88 with a backup camera but I don't know where to get an affordable dash kit for the top portion like yours that doesn't come with a system already . can you help ??
also does your system have Apple CarPlay ?
With the touch screen, can you still use the wheel dials to shift through option,as you can with the radio.
I have a 2005 E83 X3 but it doesn't have the controls in the center but it has the iDrive screen that folds up and down when the ignition is switched on/off. All the controls are in the head unit... giess they introduced the control switch only in the later models

I have installed the head unit similar to what you have but the radio displays "DISABLED" when connected through the cable supplied. When plugged back in the original it works fine. Any suggestions?
Im trying to figure out on the rca cable from the cam to the radio unit has a yellow rca type plug with a small red wire sticking out also on both sides with the rca plug. whats the small red wire for??

can you please, explain how you connected the rear cam electrical? on a cold engine the video disappears after 10secs for me and I think I have a voltage issue.

Hey there, great video, I have almost the same model of the thingy, but when i plug the splice to the OEM radio, I can't hear anything from the oem radio, the carplay will play music through the car speakers but I can't control the volume by the steering wheel buttons, nor can I hear music from the CD player.
Any ideas what might be the issue??
As far as I checked, i plugged everything correctly
Does the touchscreen harness require connecting the OE radio, or could I convert the radio housing to a little cubby?
Thanks for posting this great video. I didn't quite see from your video what you did with the CAN-BUS decoder. Did you install it? Is it only necessary for the steering wheel controls (which my X3 doesn't have) or is it useful or necessary for other functions? Thanks
Hey! I did install it. It is necessary for the head unit to communicate with the rest of the car. Even if you aren’t using steering wheel controls, you will want to use it. Installation is real simple. There is a connector on the provided wiring harness that it plugs into. Once it’s plugged in, it’s good to go.

Actually I need your little help if you can help me and solve the mystery please???? ok so i have BMW X3 2004, i have installed the Android unit and its works perfectly fine. but what i wanna do now is, i wanna keep the original BMW radio in working mode same time( as its stopped working cos antenna cable not connected but power is still there. (i am planning to get new cable and connect the main Antenna line connect with this like T Connector) do i need to change any other cable to keep both running same time?? or the Original radio will start and work with sound once i connect the Antenna ??? please advise??? But is this just possible for the models without the big screen? I tried to find a system but there is always a disclaimer which says: only compatible with the normal radio. Which means without the factory installed monitor.

Honestly adding the radio wasn't that hard (bought the same generic model). The worst part was plugging the antenna in

Thanks man! The smoke and wrap are from Vvivid vinyl. The taillights/headlights are done in their dark smoke and the car is their Matte Black.

Love it! However, I believe viewers would like a more detailed view of how you installed the backup camera. You ran through that. All I saw was a slight modification. Does the license plate light still work, does the camera come on when your in reverse only and where is it connected to the new unit? I’m asking because these weren’t called out. I have an 06 manual 6 speed and the parking sensors are activated when in reverse as do the automatics.
Hey, thanks for the feedback! In order to make it work I trimmed some plastic off of the back of the camera, then also ended up having to put a screw at each end to hold it in. The backup camera comes with a build it license plate light. I soldered the wires on to the contacts for the original license plate light.
It does come on automatically when the vehicle is in reverse and the head unit also switches to view it when the car is in reverse.

@Amrhein Garage hello I have install the Device today but i can not configure the Wheelsteering Controll i see in the instruction an followed this but its not worked then I see in Settings CAN TYPE and there are over 200 listed vw,audi... I think I must choice the correct CAN TYPE -can you please help me I connected the Canbus modul,its installed i am sure but the can type i must choice,thank you.

Hey! yeah it works on the lcd for me. When plugged in correctly, the radio below doesn't do anything.

I installed this unit but the factory deck is displaying a disabled message. Not sure what to do .
So where did you plug the cab bus plug? What exact plugs are connected to the mini tv. A lot of missing steps
