Just a note, Suzuki have been fantastic with us! I'm sure they would have extended the loan if we had asked for an extension but we both had plans that week so we ideally needed to get them back by Friday due to our own tight deadlines and commitments. Suzuki have been excellent with their communication :)

Thankfully no major injuries Kate, I couldn’t believe it when the driver pulled over onto your side of the road. Nice of the locals to come to your assistance and great that the lady provided the VRM of the offending vehicle.

thats the design of the road - the driving path isn't down the center, it follows both curbs around the chicane. There is enough room all along the roadway for two cars to pass without stopping

Really brave riding in them conditions my days of winter riding are over. I’m only a summer biker now glad you weren’t badly hurt it just goes to show how easy it is to be knocked off a motorcycle

Hello Kate, I'm a German Guy. I looked at your Video concerning the Crash. I Hope that you gave the Video to the Police. The German Driver Made 2 Falts! First he had to Stop because in his Side of the street was the bottleneck. And he could see you comming. Seconds fault, and this ist an offence, he stopped after you had crashed because he had shure Seen that you had crashed! But than he drove away. That ist not allowed in Germany. He had to wait and had to give you his Dates. I could see the Mark of hiis car.
Ist's SU - HY 9 ! SU stands for Rhein-Sieg Kreis/ Siegburg.

Well that was a mongrel way to start back. Bad enough about the pillion seat but to get swatted by German, don't mention the war. Hats off to Mike, bloody legend bloke.

Not commanding the road being over to the side as it is is inviting the car to the space. Not sure how I feel about this one although I'm glad the riders ok and the car after stopping initially shouldn't have just left the scene.
Such a sad end to a brilliant trip to Germany Kate. Really glad your ok and massive massive respect to Mike who was absolutely superb, always seems totally unflusted no matter what the situation. Big respect to you both for the trip the conditions you faced and some really enjoyable viewing. Wishing both you and Mike the very very best in 2023.

unfortunately the driver wasn't wrong here - those chicanes are setup so both drivers follow the curvature of the road, and they are quite popular here in Austria. The idea is to reduce speed without anybody needed to stop to give way (which is why he didn't stop).
The problem here is of course Kate's path was icey, but that's not really the driver's fault.
Sad that your adventure had to end that way. But what an amazing trip. Kudos to you and to Mike for enduring those temperatures, they are no fun with out heated gear. It will be something you will remember for the rest of your life.

@@UsernameKateyou are entitled to a car sized safety bubble. I'm not sure of the legalities of that road though, but if you squeeze over it's like saying it's ok. if it was your right of way, make him/her reverse back if not let them reverse back any way, lol.

I'm sorry you crashed but glad you are ok, bikes can be fixed easier than people. It's bad that the driver of the car just drove off and he didn't give you much room but I can't help feeling that you could have anticipated that the car was moving and tried to stop before getting on the really icy stuff. Lessons learnt, don't trust other road users, protect No1. Hopefully you will have no lasting physical effects from it. All the best, I do enjoy your videos.

There are a number of words that come to mind to describe this trip but I am going to go with brave and adventurous! I am so glad that you had such a good time sorry to see your bike go for a lie down. I hope that you have not hurt yourself too much and make a full recovery. The German Christmas Markets are amazing but when I went I flew into Dusseldorf and got the train to Koln. I really enjoyed your vlogs and the challenging riding conditions that you encountered. Mike was absolutely amazing in leading the trip, repatriating you back home on the back of his bike and without any heated gear or falling off. He is a fantastic rider seems to ba an all round top bloke to boot. Looking back at the footage of your crash I wonder if you would have done anything different faced with the same situation again.

Wow what a shock for you both. Glad you were able to continue your journey and so glad you didn’t have to deal with all that on your own. I have been there and it makes you feel so crap, used to commute from Gloucester to London every day , all weathers , no heated gear. I felt your pain. Really enjoyed this trip vlog, keep being spontaneous. Riding in the crap weather makes you appreciate the beautiful sunny days. 👍🏻🙌

Glad you got home safe and sound, these things happen unfortunately (I must admit although how excited you were on previous episode when it was snowing, my anxiety levels went up thinking of you riding on snow 🤦🏼♂️). I’m glad Suzuki were such stars and understanding, perhaps they can claim for the pillion seat on the insurance too ! 😂

Hope you're feeling better soon. These things can happen, one minute everything's good, next minute something bad happens. I broke my Femur in early December (not bike related), and I'm still recovering now. That's life!
