For those who do not know, this band has amazing precision. That particular footwork is extremely difficult to maintain, plus one has to play an instrument and maneuver an exact place on the field. So there is a great director or directors behind all that. Amazing sound. Such respect for each of those young people. Way more goes into this than a football team, yet it isn’t praised or even given tv time. We listen to boring booth announcers drivel on and on, instead. I do have one criticism. The director should select a drum major who does the field direction. The director should turn all that over. Footnote … I’ve never been to Wisconsin, but I know a great band.
No kidding! I'm a Bammer- but respect the hell outta these Big 10 bands. On, Wisconsin is an incredible fight song! Dare I say even better than Yea Alabama and Rocky Top...

The 5th Quarter presentation for any game in Madtown is also a special treat. "ON WISCONSIN!"

That Ohio SU's most revered tradition was created by and first performed by the MICHIGAN BAND must kill them. The script Ohio was neither invented nor first performed by the Ohio SU band. Both Sports Illustrated and the Ohio SU archives have it in text and photos: it is the script Ohio.
My high school band was high step marching. Then schools started transitioning to drum core style where the band literally walks from one formation to another. Very Boring. This style is more entertaining even if the band is playing easy music.
Just think about all of us watching on tv had to listen to a group of commentators waffle about the game when we miss the best part…pregame, half time, post game…THE BANDS!
Few observations: nobody is FAT!!!! Can't possibly have any smokers... um... call 9/11 if I tried that:) OMG ... uniforms are pristine.. and that was sincerely very entertaining!!! WOW x WOW.....

So Wisconsin has won the Rose Cotton and Orange Bowls Only meaningful ones left are the Feisata and Sugar bowls. @@owencouchman5746 The Texas/Oklahoma game is called the Red River Rivalry. Your confusion comes from the fact that it is played at Cotton Bowl Stadium.
They're just 3 drum tenors which were not so uncommon when Wisconsin started using them. From what I can tell, the director, Mike Leckrone, had the drumline use them just due to tradition, and I believe they were more commonplace in the 70s and earlier. Mike retired at the end of the 2018-19 year after being the director for 50 years. The new director has noticeably modern some stuff up with the band, specifically by getting the drumline new drums. They now play Yamaha rather than Dynasty and use quints which is obviously what most people are used to seeing nowadays.
Think "when the going gets tough, the tough get going" let's say it like this... Are you hurting? Are you tired? Are you hungry? Toughen up. Eat a rock. Fill that belly. Be tougher than the rock. As we say back home... "Eat a rock. Once a badger always a badger. & ON WISCONSIN!"
Each conference has its own style and feel.The Pac 12 has a more modern feel does their own routine that's more new day. The SEC bands are a bit more flashy, fast drum lines, showy flashy cheerleader dance girls and they perform more current pop, top 40 songs. Many of the Big 10 bands have a Very similar feel, look and sound to them- a lot more older traditional songs with a lot of emphasis on brass, tuba and bass.
Glad the days of professor Leckrone are over . Nothing but respect for the man and what he brought to the University of Wisconsin Band . But when.your not in this century of music it's probably time for you to go .
Not a chance. Add in the organized cheers between the band and the student section and UW is at another [higher] strata. Add in WVU segregation lasted until the eve of WWII......oh my.

I got to see them live as well, they are by all means, the marching best band I've ever heard.
