Winning this grant would enable me to study Korean traditional historical portraiture in South Korea. Essentially, I hope to develop a body of work that combines Western and Eastern art styles in portraiture and, in doing so, reconnect with my Asian roots. Fulbright is an international exchange program established in the U.S. after world war II as an effort to strengthen relations between the U.S. and other countries. As a U.S. student, students can apply to do either a research project or english teaching position in a partnered country. As a student from another country, there are also Fulbright scholarships for various programs within the U.S.! It's an amazing opportunity and definitely something worth looking into if you are interested.
