Since it opened in 1998, Test Track remained one of the most popular rides at Epcot and the fastest at Walt Disney World, taking guests through the experience of testing new cars in a virtual GM production line. On April 15, 2012, Test Track closed to become the Chevrolet Design Center at Epcot. This video takes you through the entire original Test Track experience, including the outside of the building, queue, complete pre-show, load, full ride, post-show showroom and gift shop.

The old version look MUCH more interesting than the new one. For the record I've never been on either just watched the videos but the new wasn't impressive.
The new one is better. It fits the theme of the park too.

2:31 OH MY GOD! It's my favorite car, the Pontiac Solstice GXP! I NEVER knew my favorite car was there! To bad they removed it. :( Well crap... And yes, I like the original version better, but I still like the new one as well. They are both good. Thank you for uploading this. :) Brings back good times...

Much prefer the old test track (this one). The new one is cooler but less fun IMO.
It would be awesome if they combined the original Test Track with Test Track 2.0
They should just bring back the old version all together

I know for sure that every ride takes the same amount of time, because I compared youtube videos of the same ride (V1.0) and V1.0 and V2.0's running times are identical (I know because I compared them with a number of different videos on here, from different uploaders). There can only be a problem if the ride breaks-down or some ignorant kid sticks his hands out of the ride, lol.
I will admit that you will miss out on the Rough-road, Heat and Cold Chambers, but it's better than being miserable!

I gotta say I'll miss this ride's theme very much! One of the more "daring" rides I took when I was younger, I'll never forget it. If they make it more reliable, I'm all for it. I've heard this ride often breaks down because of the complex system it employs. I do have to say that I won't miss the queue music though. I spent three hours in line with some friends for this and it grated on my nerves. XD

honestly...I am so sad that test track closed. There was nothing wrong with it, it was extremely popular, and I LOVE(D) THAT RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!

Just compared both versions via video and I must say Disney destroyed this ride. This version is so original the new one is terrible. Nothing but lights no originality at all. What were the Disney Imagineers thinking?
Pretty sure GM told them to do it that way in order to keep their sponsorship of the ride....
the new ride isn't terrible, BUT the little game that you can play with it is. I miss this version of the ride

Lucky enough to ride this version back in 2006? (Can't remember what year) and I've just seen the video of the "update" Update looks crap and horrible, this version is more realistic and you can see more.
Yeah the new version is stupid I'm also lucky I've gotten to ride the older version. I miss it
I remember when I was preparing to go to Florida for the first time in 2006 and I was SUPER hyped for this ride. I had seen teaser trailers on a website that I can't remember the name of. My 6 year old mind thought this was the coolest thing ever, it was driving cars through a test facility, how cool is that! I loved when I rode it and it was one of my favourite rides ever. Upon riding the new version last month, I can say that I am disappointed with it. There was nothing to it at all, the only good part is the loop around the outside. It's a real shame that this version will never come back, but riding this was one of the best memories of my life.

I heard Disney doesn't throw props out, just stores them in a massive warehouse, however, alot of this stuff is just retail cars
Everything about this is much more interesting and creative than the current version. Wow. The queue, the preshow, the ride itself, the post-show, even the gift shop. All of it is much better designed. Even though they kept the same layout, they stripped all the creativity out of it.
I see they have one of the new "sim cars" from the new version of the ride 10:40 They must've been real eager to overhaul Test Track.

This was the best version of the ride and the only one I cared to ride at Epcot. Ruined it with the new theme and now it’s closed again.

It did I wish they never changed it never got to try it the new one is cool and all but it does not matter if the ride does not fit the new theme of future world maybe update a bit but not to much that it loses its original theme and story

Yeah,the original Test track feels outdated. Now Test track really looks more like the ride came from the future and it fits with the theme of the land

It's only closed temporarily. It should reopen in the Fall with new theming and areas. The ride will stay essentially the same, though. :)

If only World Of Motion could come back... Those who call this a classic must not have ever experienced WOM or any of the other real classics from EPCOT. And thank god this isn't going to be Cars themed. EPCOT was always supposed to be a park more like a Worlds Fair than a normal theme park, and that seems to have been lost over the years. Test Track was fun, but let's hope this new reincarnation is more creative!

What have this to do with the Disney Company? Nothing.
The Disney parks aren't just based on the films. They are related to Disney because they are part of what Walt wanted in his parks. If you look at the rest of EPCOT you'll realise that there are hardly any rides exclusively directed at films. World showcase is based off the culture of different nations and Future World is based on different technologies. Test track fits into this perfectly. That is what it has to do with Disney.

Radiator Springs Racers is at California Adventure, which will utilize the same ride system as Test Track. This is just getting some minor changes, not anything along the line of the Cars franchise.
