    What's your favourite BOSS DD pedal?

      dd-2 and dd-500 owner here-bookends of the boss delay pedal eras. 2 is a legend; classic, simple and works great in the loop of my mark III. 500 is NASA-does a nice 2 emulation and killer sde-3000 em as well!

      DD-20! I've got mine modded, so it has three buttons (on / memory / taptempo)

      DD-5, more stereo fx than the others and tap tempo.

    I bought this pedal you just reviewed shortly after it released. I spent a lot of time with it creating all kinds of inspiring landscapes. It really took me places and I was so blessed to have this pedal. I used it in punk bands, rock bands and even in a drum machined Goth band playing bass. Its endless possibilties make it age well in my eyes. Thanks for reviewing this properly.

    I still have my original I bought second hand back in 1988 or so. It has always been incredibly usable.

    The DSD-2 is my all time favourite delay for guitar, it was my first delay pedal and I still have it. To my taste it's very much a case of what you said about Boss getting it right first time and then expecting all delays to sound that way as a result. The only other delay I love more is the SDE3000d, which can be made to sound more like the DSD-2 by tweaking the HF roll off settings.
    Awesome to hear your review of the DD-2, especially the ability to create the doubling effect!

    I love it that you started with quote "Absolute filth".. 🤣 Been listening in headphones lately and although they drive me crazy, man the stereo sounds are just amazing! You sound better than ever sir!
    Every time you play the strat with the laces I think of Lynard Skynards newer guitarists who is amazing! Always good stuff with this channel! Always sir!
    Be well my friend! 🤟👍👍🤟

    I use the Boss DD7, it's a lot more versatile and you can get some real wicked sounding delays with it and if set it just right, you can get some strange space like sounds out of it! Sounding good as always! I love the chicken picken playing you were doing! 😀👍

    It's crazy how many got it right pedals Boss has done.
    My 1st pedals were a DD2 CE2 OD1 PH1r and a CS3 bought with/in that silver molded plastic case with the PSM 5 switch.
    I later added the DD3 because I like the DD2 so much.

    Currently, the RE-2. Love the DD2 as well - a DSD-2 or 3 will get you there as well and you can still find them for cheap.

    This has been on every pedalboard for live gigging I've used since the '80s - The main reason is ( should be a well-known 'trick') : set the M delay range to @ 1 - 1/2ish repeats, adjust D time it to be the right tempo for Johnny Cash "Folsom Prison" , Level so it sounds right for that 'double-picking' sound - Now, with just turning the Range knob 1 turn to right ( 800ms range), there's a delay you can leave ON all the time pretty much ( except tight breaks, endings ) That's why I still use this DD2, it just works, sounds real, and EZ to set for a real time gig. Thanks for cool video 🙂

    I still love that warble when you change the delay time on the fly LOL! I have the DD-3 I bought in the late 1980’s and it does the same. The “Hold” function can be used to get that Yngwie “spaceship” effect he gets with the Space Echo.

    I traded an original blue label DD2, a beat up strat copy and a BOSS GT10 for a Line 6 Vetta II HD haha, still have that beast collecting dust.
    I liked the DD2 but really preferred my old ARIA AD10 over it by quite a bit. The Aria didn't steal the high end and to me actually made the high end really sweet.
    Great demo Leon, now I wish I kept the DD2 :P Also I think Eric Johnson used the DD2 and made it sought after years ago.

  • @cliftonwright7081
    @cliftonwright7081 ปีที่แล้ว

    Glorious! There is a percussive quality to the mids of the repeats and a wonderfully balanced and subtle grit that really sets these apart from other digital delay pedals. Most importantly, it’s a result of the hardware and not a simulation so there’s just a bum hair more musical unpredictability.

    The only pedal which get me close to Boss DD-2 is Strymon DIG. I guess it's because they both have something in common with 80s rack delays - DIG reproduces it digitally, whereas DD-2 has SDE-3000 long chip inside.

    • @LeonTodd

    I love that delay, it is the second delay I bought so many years ago. The fist was a memory man. I used the DD2 on so many shows and recordings, it got destroyed at a rowdy gig. Could be time to get another. Thanks for this one. Can you tell more about that double neck I’ve been seeing ing the background lately?

    Thanks for this great demo. Will a sleeveless shirt help me get close to the tone heard during the doubling effect? I suspect that this adds at least 24% shredability to the top.

      @9277707 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have both, and I've heard several times, very early DD3's ( Roland 'long chip') are the same, except in value. The way to tell is the power jack input should be real low, close to bottom of pedal - later DD3's they moved it up a smidge.
