15000 horsepower? Might want to pull a zero.
And change that 5 to a 2😂
I spit out my drink when she said that lmao
Media frequently screws up aviation story facts. Sure lady, 15,000 HP. 😂
Pull a zero? With that kind of horsepower, you could pull whatever you want! HFS, a 15k turbine in a single seater would make most military procurement officers drool.
15,000 HP? WOW! What is the climb rate of that sucker?
It's closer to 1250 SHP, not sure where 15,000 came from. Climb rate is about 800 feet per minute, a little more when all the tanks are closer to empty.
there's no way on earth those put out 15000 hp. I worked around crop dusters back in the 80's and they were the same then as they are now. Depending on the air intake system they about 450 hp to 550 hp. Even saying they were putting out 1500 hp would be a stretch but 15000...that gal needs to quit smoking weed 😵💫
@@lowbudgetbob1155 The AT-802 is rated around 1250 hp.
thats the regular tv news for you
at 15,000 HP the rate of climb is about 17 miles per second.
Ive been driving truck for 20 years and have always loved watching these guys do their jobs flying across the fields. I have never seen one get this close to trafgic befor.
The FAA low-level exemptions for crop dusting don't allow endangering people on the ground while flying low level.
15,000hp because VTEC just kicked in yo
the plane has 1500 not 15000 horsepower
No, it really has 15000. See, it was the Ghost Of Kyiv.
It is 15K because the woman on the news told me it was, you bigot! 😄
Dont be silly
Its definitely 15,000hp

Good job 👍
She’s off on the horsepower by about 14,000 horsepower !
He wasnt that close. The camera angle was shot from behind. This is click bait.
15 thousand horse power???? I DONT THINK SO?? Tell the reporter to do a report on a different topic!!!!
Like maybe an in-depth report on innumeracy levels in the news media?
That's an amazingly skilled pilot, that vid should be on his resume! Cropdusting and safety are a bit hard to combine in a sentence, glad it worked out.
He's a DANGER. Are you him ?
it was Maverick. He's retired from the AF, doing this now. Still dangerous as ever. Iceman was right.
It’s not 15,000 hp obviously, another thought is maybe he was heavy with mostly a full hopper and couldn’t quite pull up in time…but I’m not a pilot..
There are a few thousand yellow Ag planes operating in the U.S. Most of them are either Air Tractor or Thrush and most of them are now Turbine powered. Things are happening very fast at the level and speeds they fly at. I bet every person on this thread who drives has at one time or another mis- judged their distance with another vehicle and almost / or did have a collision. People need to look in the mirror first before being critical of this pilot.
The Ag operator in the interview threw one of his fellow pilots under the bus and what you sow is what you reap. I wonder if the pilot who who flew close to the semi is in any way his direct competition? Ag pilots are a small fraternity and normally would not do this to each other.
Lol could you imagine 15 000 hp in an airplane
Even though AG Pilots are some of the best in the world, they are human beings. They get it wrong sometimes. AG flying is the most dangerous and demanding type of civilian aviation with the possible exception of aerobatic flying, which is it's close cousin. Generally areobatic pilots don't spend 8 hours a day, 5 days a week doing low altitude loops and spins for a living.
I'm guessing this was an emergency manuever based on his flight path, powerlines and tower in the video. He was looking where he was going, not at the truck. Pilot probably mis-judged his location when intitaing his run or had a control, altitude or alignment issue mid flight, and had to cross the highway at low altitude to avoid CFIT into a tower or the powerlines in front of him. Those "15,000 HP" (lol) turbo-prop air-tractors are moving FAST (135 mph+) and LOW. Their runs generally only last a few seconds, they must be pin-point accurate. Time is litterally money in commercial aviation, so AG pilots are under enormous time pressure to git- 'er done quickly.
Things happen VERY FAST and there is vanishingly small margin for error.
No way he was deliberately playing chicken with Semi unless he was suicidal. Pilots that reckless rarely advance past Cessna 150s before washing out of flying - usually by augering in.
Excellent comment!
Astonishing rational perspective and extremely in-depth, thank you…clearly an example of an expert opinion and educated background on the specific subject. Internet users please take notice.
Both types of flying are useless and dangerous and a waste of fuel and air pollution and noise pollution. NEEDS TO BE BANNED!
LOL Ok Karen.@@davidgray1515
Rational comments however his poor planning on how to fly this field could have cost him life. Flying under power lines vs working around them is not very smart. I have worked with aerial applicators for 40 years this type of flying will eventually catch up with this operator. There are old pilots and bold pilots but no old, bold pilots!
Saw the same plane flying extremely low and fast over residential neighborhoods in La Porte.
The thing is, we haven't had crop dusters fly over our neighborhood in decades.
I think it’s the same guy who does the crops in the Bluffton and Yoder areas. Dude flies super close to my house and my mom’s trees
@@Faith_1337 AG Pilots fly "super close" to ALL kinds of objects and obstacles while performing an aerial application flight. That is a Normal day at the office.
I find it really hard to believe that little fella is putting out nearly as much horsepower as a C-130 😂
"15,000 hp" ?! 🤣🤣🤣That's one hell of a plane! 0:53 🤣🤣🤣
Yes it’s dangerous for sure,my brother was in the business for many years in NZ and had fellow pilots have accidents that were fatal
My brother had a heart attack on takeoff and the machine caught fire and you survive that
At least his passion was flying✅✔️
It looks like he's about to go under those power lines too. I don't think he would be wanting to stay down that low if he were planning to fly over them. Wouldn't you have started to pull up by that time, especially if you were going to have to pull up immediately anyway to get over the lines?
Is it illegal to fly under power lines? I would imagine it would be highly illegal..
Just think what a P40 could do with 15000 HP!
He he .... 1500.... maybe
0:52 15000 HP eh?
15,000 hp that’s a hell of a 602 !
Watch the video very closely at the 0:15 Marker. Look at the High line Tower in the picture. The pilot was do what Ag Pilots do many times a day which is FLY UNDER Powerlines when they have a choice. It is much safer to fly under the lines than to climb over them if the lines are high enough. I can tell that many people making comments on this thread have never been directly involved with AG Aviation. Read FAR Part 137 before commenting.
"Barely making it passed a semi on the road". Lol - That AT is moving at 130mph or better. Unless that semi can suddenly match that 130 range, this is garbage. What y'all need to be talking about is a driver with his cell phone not paying attention to the road, which is ALSO against the law. Instead of worrying that an ag pilot is suddenly suicidal while doing his job, which feeds you, btw.
Yeah, he was too low with traffic coming. But, HE knew he had plenty of time, even if the cars who act like they've never seen or heard of crop dusters, feel the need to cry about it.
How many news stories do y'all broadcast of "almost" (not) car wrecks?? I'm guessing fkn zero.
Turning this into an actual news story is ridiculous. Especially when the reporter can't even get the HP right.
Excellent Comment!
Lol, that''s what I said!
15000hp fuck yes
He new what he was doing. That’s not close for a pilot that spends his live flying 2 feet off the ground
That is close. Ive never seen one in 20 years fly that close to any roads unless its a dirt road with no traffic. This was dangerious.
@@eligebrown8998he wasn’t that close. Cameras make it seem closer than it really is!!
Looks like there were powerlines in that picture, was he having to keep low and go UNDER them?
If so he should have gone over them.
Thats what I thought. He looks like he's planning to go under them, cause he wouldn't be wanting to stay that low if he was going to have to be pulling up in a seconds time. But I would have thought flying under power lines would be highly illegal though?
@@JoshPhoenix11it's not actually illegal at least not in our state
Plenty of room.
Better than the WGN video
It's not 15,000 HP reporter, do your research or keep good notes!
weren't even close Karen.
I’m glad that you’re attitude every cropduster I’ve ever seen is a total cowboy…
Keep it safe
Did he get a ticket for distracted driving?
15,000hp lol. They can have around 1500hp not 15,000....
Maybe the pilot saw the truck from a mile away too
And the operator on that video is just trying to make himself look good i can guarantee he has been in a similar situation
Saw that same plane fly over my house
THERE ARE OLD PILOTS AND THERE ARE BOLD PILOTS, BUT THERE ARE NO OLD AND BOLD PILOTS
At 15000 hp at full speed that thing would make 32,000 ish pounds of thrust giving it close to 300,000 feet per minute climb rate🤣🤣🤣
Make sure u stand down wind an breath the chemicals
Headline should read...crop duster screws with semi truck😂
PT6 is around 1500hp
15,000 horsepower? 😂😂😂 I'm done listening.
Let's not overlook the fact that these guys are phenomenal pilots that have a very dangerous job, This could be nothing more than a great pilot just having fun....
Great pilots don’t last long enough to be great by flying recklessly and without any regard for the safe operation of their aircraft. They get their ticket pulled, or they kill themselves along with whoever happens to be in their path on the ground. It’s all “fun” and games until you kill someone because you were being an unprofessional idiot, completely ignored the whole “dangerous” part.
@@rjhornsby The pilot was operating PART 137 normally by flying under power lines when they have a choice.
How about the trucker being on their cell phone and not watching the road ahead.? No situational Awareness by the trucker either. I wonder if trucker would have slowed down for a slow or stopped vehicle in the road.? Should have done the very same thing for an airplane in the roadway.
That is not fun when your the truck that almost gets hit. Its wreckless.
@@guitarhillbilly1482you better try again with that b.s.
@@eligebrown8998 Don't know where you live but here a normal day on the road almost get hit several times a day by other vehicles.
Almost getting hit is Nothing.whether by a car or airplane.

Wow 15000 hp and a squirrel at the controls
Looks like PATRIOT AG AIR 1365 N Warren Rd, HUNTINGTON, IN, 46750. I filed an FAA complaint on them last year for flying over a town and high schiol like that. Guess the FAA doesn't really mind.
call the Indianapolis FSDO - flight standards district office. They might tell you “file a complaint” but you may also have better luck talking to someone at a local facility, rather than relying on someone in DC to do paperwork properly. When a pilot does something stupid, the FSDO is often the first who wants to see them and their logbook.
They do the same thing in the Bluffton area. My house is pretty far from the crops and I was almost certain he was going to nip the top of my house and take out my neighbor’s trees.
Nope they dont care because it is legal
You dont own the air we can fly at any height in the course of our job that we deem safe
Considering no one was hurt id say he did a good job
Sometimes thing go wrong the pilot cannot control the traffic and one video angle and no other opposing story is just typical media trying to bury someone for ratings.
What we do is dangerous, i have nearly died on many occasions and the fact that people are complaining is really discouraging me from trying to protect crops to put food on these peoples tables.
And putting the details of one particle company on a video that may not have anything to do with this is just totally disgusting.
Just think next time you buy a loaf of bread or eat some corn about how nice it is free of disease and insect infestation!
Or better yet if you disagree maybe grow your own food and stop being a hypocrite and enjoying food that only 1 person risks their life for, that person is the aerial application pilot. No one else who produces food for the world is in as much danger!
I have filed complaints also. people need to get a real job.
You losers
No November ID on the AC? That pilot had clearance to work that field so we should be able to find the pilot of that plane.
The pilot did nothing wrong in this video during a Part 137 Agricultural Application Flight. He maintained clearance from obstacles and the ground. Almost hitting an object happens every day in normal AG Operations. Trees Power Lines Bridges and Overpasses Wind Farms MET Towers vehicles farm equipment Irrigation Towers and so forth.
@@guitarhillbilly1482you nailed it👍
Look we all make mistakes. Yes this could have been a serious one, fatal for both sides. But let's not forget that him, me, or you have all made mistakes. We do not know what he was doing inside for all we know he was looking at gage or even his phone but remember you yourself would have been fired at some point maybe something similar or maybe even in a completely different occupation. Give the guy credit he didn't hit anyone. Yes and it wouldn't be wise to do it again and I'm guessing he won't. It's a dangerous job we all know but all of us let's not be so quickly to judge.
1,500hp not 15,000hp
15000 horse power 😅😅😅
Huge engine power!!!
I trust the pilot of this crop duster over anyone else. He used to be a fighter pilot in the war! Quit being a bunch of babies! Thank you D for taking care of our crops across indiana! 😂❤
You nailed it!!…. A bunch of wawa’s , never really been out and about much. I was driving down the highway in the Miss delta and was watching this crop duster working the fields, when he came up over the tree line near the highway he winged it over and instead of making another pass he leveled the wings and landed it on the highway about a 1/4 mile in front of me as the engine had stopped. I whipped off the highway into the grass as the wingtip passed my pickup. I looked in the rear view mirror and he managed to coast into a turn off. I went back and pilot was getting out of the cockpit, he apologized and said he hoped he didn’t scare me. I said, not in the slightest and offered to help him out. He said that when pulled up over the trees, the engine had sputtered and died, he had just enough airspeed to set it down, he couldn’t have been more than 500 ft above the ground at that time, other crashing, the highway was his only landing option. His ground crew showed up within a few minutes. He was a very nice guy. For me it was no biggie, just a guy in trouble with limited options.
@hobsonbeeman7529 he really is an amazing man! It's sad because people freak out on him ALL THE TIME and call the police on him CONSTANTLY. D is just doing what he is not only paid to do but doing what he LOVES to do! I have SOOOOO MANY videos of him over the last few years. I live just a couple miles from him so I get to see him and his pro status maneuvers ALL of the time! 🥰
looked like a scene out of north by northwest!
This is a sunset business. Drones will replace this risky job. It is already happening in many countries.
Not right now.
Do you know what a drone cost that has the capability to carry 500-800 GALLONS of chemical and fly at 140 - 150 mph? Have you ever seen a 1 mile x 1 mile rice field in the Arkansas Delta? You would get laughed out showing up with a drone that can carry 10 gallons at best and fly at 50 mph. [ A JOKE ]
When a drone can be bought for 2-3 million dollars that will carry 800 gallons of chemical and fly at 150 mph then they will take over. Not until then.
In the U.S. the large fixed wing and rotor wing aircraft still rule the fields.
This practice needs to be banned. Who wants chemicals sprayed all around getting into water wells and home gardens? What if you have an outdoor party planned that day? I hate when the crop dusters buzz my house and I wish they would hit a tree. They are loud and obnoxious as well as dangerous.
I hope the grocery store shelves are empty the next time you go because the grasshoppers [Locusts] ate up all the crops.
15,000 HP…,It’s over 9,000!!!
15 THOUSAND horsepower? I very very very much doubt that... 15hundred? Could be?
🤨15000 HP 👈. Nope
The day before this happened, i almost got hit by one on st rd 25 in indiana, between waynetown and wingate. It looked just like this yellow one! I was driving a 24' box truck for post office.
You should call the TV station and get your 15 minutes of fame.
Most of them look like this one.
Crop dusting is a infringement of your individual freedom given to you by God.
Other videos show have a conversation about how there where high tension lines and the pilot was probably preoccupied with hitting them and
This boss in reality knows, don't bullshit old mate

More Media Hype than fact. If the plane missed the truck by 3 feet or more then that was plenty. [15,000 HP 🤣🤣🤣] Its obvious the reporter knows absolutely nothing about what she says here. I also call B.S. on the Ag operator being interviewed here. He just said what he thought the media wanted to hear. Good luck on finding another EXPERIENCED Air Tractor pilot immediately during PEAK Ag and Fire Seasons.
BTW- In most parts of the U.S. Chemical Dust has not been used in airplanes for DECADES . The correct term is AG Pilot and Agricultural Aviation. Crop Duster is outdated.
I call BS on you calling BS. MFer crossed a road at a vehicles height, if you did that in a car it would have been way too close much less a plane.
@@hollykit BS on your BS.🤣🤣🤣
@@hollykit you must have never driven on a 2 lane state highway.
Vehicles coming at you all day long with only 5-6 feet separation at speeds of 65-70 MPH.
@@guitarhillbilly1482 I live on HWY 30, the same one this incident took place. Since you're not familiar it's a 4 lane separated highway with a max speed of 60 MPH. So when you're driving on it, you can safely assume you're not going to have traffic driving at you unless the person is drunk. You also don't have cross traffic coming at you with no warning, since there are these lovely things called intersections you cross at, where they always yield to the highway. And if someone did blow through an intersection with less then 3 feet to spare from a semi who could clip them if any single thing goes wrong, I would also call them a fucking idiot for not giving them a safe clearance. Much less a plane that's flying across the road with no sort of warning, no sort of signalling, no signage warning people to stop for low flying aircraft like you would see around a country airport, and generally being reckless to the point where if he got hit by the Semi the only person who would be found at fault in the FAA report would be him. It's common sense.
@@hollykit Almost and close counts in horseshoes.
Unless the 4 lane road is divided or has a center left turn lane vehicles are still passing each other with 5-6 feet clearance. That alone is nuts and highways have been this way for decades
So an airplane missing a truck by the same 5-6 feet is no big deal.
I'm talking about highway design in general. I know you said highway 60 was a divided highway.
