@@DrummerboysWashersAndMore Growing up Kenmore washers was my first favorite. My foster mom had one with the tub ring (it was a direct drive) and then my aunt had a portable direct drive and a whirlpool portable dryer. Then I saw a Maytag at a family member's house basement.
I’m very thankful that getting the straight vane worked out as well as it did. I plan on doing some videos with it in the near future, both small and large loads. Also, despite how it looks inside the cabinet, the ‘78 Maytag has been the most reliable of my machines so far!

@@MatthewJames-st5wv I will see how my schedule looks sometime around then. I definitely wouldn’t mind giving it to you in person, and possibly doing some kind of wash-in or similar thing. I normally work Saturday’s but based off what you’ve said in the past, it wouldn’t be that long of a drive there to here, or vice versa.

I’ve never painted one of my machines, but if it absolutely does need to be repainted, I would try and see if you could find a touch up paint of the same color sold by Whirlpool. If not, you may be able to find a color match somewhere in an appliance type paint.
@@DrummerboysWashersAndMore yea it’s scratched up but in decent condition I’m looking to restore it where can I find these parts ? It could use a new power cord as well and new self leveling feet on the back
@@luisnavarro293 I usually go to Fix.com to help me find some of my parts. From there you can enter your model number and it should show all the avaiable parts for the machine.
I will for sure make some more videos of the Portable. I don’t upload a lot of it mostly just because it takes so long to fill with how poor the water pressure in the house is.
I like the brown agitator inside the Kenmore. It reminds me of the brown agitator in the 1975/76 Kenmore All American washer. I think theirs was an alphabet washer because it had letters for each cycle.
It allows for the saving of the previous loads wash water, in able to be reused in the future. By selecting save suds, and setting the timer dial appropriately, it runs the machine in agitate, and opens the suds valve in order to pull water through the secondary drain hose and back up into the tub.
@@simonemartini3017 The rinse will always drain out of the main drain hose. Normally, they would not drain into the same place as they do in this case, but I don’t have the ability to drain the hoses separately of eachother. It also will never pull water back in for the rinse, but rather will always fill with fresh water.
@@Makesdonsdonsoney As of right now, it would take some reorganization and moving around of things if I were to get another machine. I’m keeping my eyes open on marketplace and such, but it will have to be something very special.

Awesome! The straight vane agitator looks great in the '86. Looking forward to seeing it in action. The '78 Maytag is sounding smooth as always.
