    Dude epic!!! love the handheld feel very grounding, and authentic, good lighting too. You should check out light ratios, some of the low key scenes were a little over lit and due to your light ratios losing you a lot of dynamic range, ( looked like some were 8 -1, 4-1 is contrasty too with more shadow details, a good low key close up ratio is 2-1 and 4-1 for a mid/wide) not trying to discount your work, just my 2 cents as a Lighting DP. fantastic work Im dying to see an extended cut, with a deeper character arc and hero journey. Great spec AD with a deeper story thats 100% sellable mate :)

    • @jordanadudek
      @jordanadudek  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Man you are spot on with that analysis. Not making excuses, but it was definitely the limitation of having a two man crew and quick turnarounds on location. In an ideal world, we would’ve had an extra hand to really focus on the details and intricacies of what we were doing. You don’t know how much I appreciate that feedback as well!
      It’s a tough balance of needing to get coverage, while also wanting to create art that is meaning and impactful. Would honestly love to have you on a set, or even a call to hear more about your thoughts and perspective on filmmaking!

    • @matthewblakejohnston
      @matthewblakejohnston ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jordanadudek Glad you appreciate the comment, It looks like more than a 2 man crew, so nice job!. One last thing that might help you, is when lighting with colour and frankly any key source thats lighting your subject, you want to motivate it by showing it in a wide or camera move, so when that light hits your subject the audience knows where and why its there, adding light/colour to the scene, it really helps having a wide to motivate the light for the corresponding close up. Shoot me a message if you want to chat in more detail

    Nice work. If you’re looking for some thoughts, I would recommend tightening up your lighting ratios. 2-4 stop difference should get you the mood you want while not stretching out your range too much.
    If you really want your hone in your spec work, try to shoot for 30s and 60s lengths. There’s a lot to be said for someone that can tighten their work to fit within ad space, and still hit all the story points. Bonus points if you can use the content to cut a 15, 30, and 60 second spec, AND some social media bits 😎
    All the best!
