    3:20 You don't need to leave the key in the "Reset" position. Just turn it to "Off" after resetting for a second or two and the system will complete the cycle itself, even if the elevator is recalling to a different floor during reset.

    They really should make that indicator say, 'Please exit when doors open' I don't think most people would understand what that symbol means.

      This elevator is not equipped with a vocab feature since it's not a mid to high rise building. If it was, it would say that.

      @@flightlevel3608There actually is a voice module on newer Otis elevators like this one (Series 5). They just decided to turn the Module off since like you said, it’s not a mid or high rise building.
      Vocabulary words can be triggered by resetting the elevator (Off and On). Once it’s fully initialized it will start the Vocab (As far as I know).

    Did you have to access the hoistway in order to test the smoke detectors in the shaft? I see you have a full set of Otis keys, but obviously due to how dangerous it is, you probably wouldn't want to be filming, in fear of simplex seeing this.

    • @ShaunPuzon
      @ShaunPuzon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He said in the description that this building has a separate FACP dedicated to the elevator system. There may not have been any notification appliances connected to that panel.

  • @embeddedgirl
    @embeddedgirl 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Any particular reason why you would want to deticate an entire 4008 just for the elevator? My guess would be to keep programming simple on the main panel. Though regardless of how many floors the elevator services it'd be overkill for 2 or 3 floors, and redundant for 8-12 floors being that's it'd just be easier to program that into the main panel. (Most likely a 4100 series and at that point it's going to take more than a day to program anyway)

    • @safetech
      @safetech  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This facility does not have a main fire alarm therefore the 4008 is in place for the elevator safety controls and as a means to dial out to monitoring.

    Question to all fire alarm experts, does turning on fire service trigger a response from the fire department?

    • @safetech
      @safetech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not from what i’ve seen by turning the fire service key. However some elevators may have some special configurations to do so.

    • @frazierg0325
      @frazierg0325 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      NO

    • @flightlevel3608
      @flightlevel3608 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Using elevator fire service as a standalone (test and demo) will not trigger a response from the fire department. However, if the FACP is programmed it will send a signal if the entire building alarm system is triggered.

    • @edgarmartinez7371
      @edgarmartinez7371 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In situations in which smoke detectors are triggered on all floors, most elevators will send a signal to the machine room and the fire alarm control panel to 'shunt trip (or disable)'; the only form to restore its memory is resetting the FACP and the machine switch

      Thanks for viewing and for your comment. I would first like to ask where in fact you got the information regarding what your claiming happened? Also, I respect all rights to privacy and never will you see me recording in unauthorized settings or areas not accessible to the general public. All location information is withheld. This is strictly an educational platform. Other than that, anyone has a right to film as long as these guidelines are adhered to and the setting allows for it. Only does it become a problem when careless people start to invade others personal space.

    • @Aaronproductions
      @Aaronproductions 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      SAFETECH there was a youtuber called “MRTRUEALERT” who had lost his Simplex panels and devices because he released them too early to the public. That’s why he doesn’t upload anymore. And I wasn’t expecting a paragraph about basic laws, I was just asking if your employer is ok with you filming at their costumers buildings. You went in the elevator room which isn’t “assessable to the public” nor eare any of the panels you show so I’m not sure what you were trying to say with that. Sorry I just wrote a big argument essay. Lol I like your videos so keep it up!

    • @safetech
      @safetech  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Aaron Productions.
      You are correct in what you are saying. And no I don’t usually need permission to film because I am not leaking private or personal info. That’s where this whole issue begins.Therefore I feel it isn’t warranted. Like I said before, my vids are for educational purposes. If a privacy concern arises the content will be modified or deleted altogether as I have accidentally ran into that a few times myself in the past.

    • @gnutelliums
      @gnutelliums 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If the smoke detector on the second floor tripped, then yes. But since the detector in the lobby tripped, it won't recall to the same floor that the alarm is on. A fire on the second floor would've triggered primary recall, but the ground floor is the alternate recall.
