I have already done this with my heater. I didn't use a regulator, just two 18v 4ah milwaukee batteries in the same red holders I got from temu. It's been working fine on 18v for me. 😊 Cheers 🥂
A great idea Nathan, as you say it is very portable using power tool batteries. I have seen on TH-cam a low voltage warning circuit, again you can adjust the voltage. Instead of buzzing it operates a relay to cut power to the fuel pump. The heater detects there’s no fuel and shuts down cleanly with the cool down sequence as per normal. Extra faff but an interesting addition when using the power tool batteries.
Hey bud I’ve seen someone mention cutting the fuel pump supply but I can’t get my head around how it works as the fuel pump must get a pulsed signal from the motherboard. Would definitely be the best way for doing 👍👍
@ If you break one of the wires preferably the positive that goes to the pump. The pump can’t pulse but the motherboard doesn’t know the power has been cut to the pump. All the motherboard detects is a lack of fuel just like it has run out , at that point the motherboard initiates a clean shutdown.
That's a super idea for making the diesel heater way more portable. I wish I had thought about that before I specially ordered a 50ah LiFePO4 battery just for my diesel heater.
@@MoreDteTv True. I didn't think of it that way. I was trying to keep it compact and more portable. But you're right. The 50ah battery will last much longer.
That battery tray as parallel may actually be a handy piece of kit. I seen vids on here where fully discharged batteries can be bought back to life by using a full battery and then linking together to recover them and then can be charged on the rapid charger.
Hey Adam 👍 didn’t know your username on here but I do now, me and Bob really enjoyed tonight glad people enjoy watching. Thanks for always supporting mate 🙏👍
Brilliant , I made one and used dewalt batteries , but after killing 2 of my batteries I now have added a voltage cutoff so soon as it drops to the set voltage it will shut off, but there’s a down side, with the voltage cutoff it stops imedietly and as you know when you turn off a diesel heater it stops the pump but carries on for a while while to cool it down but with the voltage cutoff it doesn’t allow that, so now when you turn it back on it tends to have too much fuel in so smokes for a bit.
Nice paint job. I've tried to run with the Milwaukee M12 6ah, it was starting and was running for 3 hours before the battery was empty. Completely drained the battery and was able to just charge it. And no converter needed.😂🎉
Hey bud thank you 👍 I have to admit my batteries where recently new so got the most out of them, they want cheap hence why I stopped the test way before killing them.
Interesting to see that standing the pump vertical reduces the ticking noise.. everything else i’ve seen on them heaters says to keep the pump between 15-30 degrees
Hey Alan it definitely made a big difference, yes you are right they do always say that angle is the best and I think this one would still be quiet even at that angle as it was laying flat in this unit 👍
Hey Roger thank you, I’ve played with a few heaters over the years and always mounted them inside to recirculate the air rather than heating cold air constantly.
push the 2 left hand buttons in and hold. The Alpine mode will kick in and you will see the ikon in the top right hand corner. This seems to run fine and use less diesel, not as much heat output but saves fuel.
did it put enough heat in the the unit nathan to be comfortable to work in dont mean really warn but did it keep the chill out hoping have a similar size unit in next couple weeks seems a really good idea
Hey bud so my workshop has load of holes in the roof and it’s double height so makes hardly any difference. If your workshop doesn’t have a super hight roof with holes leading to next doors workshop it might be ok but in mine it’s wasted 👍
I been thinking about installing a portable diesel heater in my t5 what’s your thoughts on a portable one in the van or should I get a cheep diesel heater and fit it In. The van
They are absolutely perfect for a van instal and once you have one you’ll wish you done it sooner, if you have room under a front seat then that’s my first choice or just anywhere it will fit. The portable one like in this video are good but if you plan on it being there full time I’d buy one with the case as they take up a lot less room. On the main channel the last video I fitted one in a caddy and that’s a smaller 2kw version and perfect for a van. They are less than £60 to for everything.
@ I’ve seen all the diesel heater videos you have made and that’s making me want one what with the blower motor packing up in the van and I use it for the school run and daily vehicle etc Thank you Nathen Regards Adam
You need to be bloody careful the exhaust contains co2 as well as co ...drawing this in and burning exhaust gasses will vastly increase co content of exhaust gas
Cracking setup you've achieved there Nathan. Perfect for keeping warm in an outdoor building. Thank you for the excellent content.
Thanks Karl 👍👍
Wow another brilliant video ,well done mate 👍
Thanks Dean appreciate that mate 👍👍

Some diesel heater are rated for 12 to 24 volts. You probably have one of those units.
great info! Looks like these heater are super efficient
Hey David they are very good and such a simple design 👍
What great conversion 👍
Thanks Andrew 👍
Here ah yes after a brilliant podcast
Thank you me and Bob really enjoy the podcasts, glad my viewers enjoy them to 🙏👍

Hey Troy thank you, your 50ah battery will definitely last alot longer and will have a built in cut off point so you won’t ever damage it 👍

Hey bud yes I’ve seen people jump starting batteries from a charged one. I’ve actually done it with a different battery 👍
Great video Nathen thank you for all comments on the live podcast tonight take care

Thanks mate 👍
Could you draw a small diagram of how you connected everything together with the fuses?
Please
👍🙂👍
Really great idea

You can get silent pumps for these now. Not the constant tik tik tik 👌🏻👍🏻
Do you have a link to a truly silent metering fuel pump? I've seen (as in this video) pumps that are somewhat quieter but still irritating.
Interesting to see that standing the pump vertical reduces the ticking noise.. everything else i’ve seen on them heaters says to keep the pump between 15-30 degrees

Nice mods! Personally I keep the whole unit outside and just vent the clean air in.

sorry just seen controller it's not the standard new type.
Niceone bud I shal try that 👍
you could also add in a low voltage disconnect module like the xh-m609
did it put enough heat in the the unit nathan to be comfortable to work in dont mean really warn but did it keep the chill out hoping have a similar size unit in next couple weeks seems a really good idea

Like and subscribe yall, one of the realist todo this.
Make 1 for dewalt 12/20volt and master force and I’ll buy 1 of each
Nice conversion to battery, only downside to buying heater from Maxpeedingrods is the £50 delivery cost.
It’s half the price on eBay with free delivery
Hey Colin where abouts are you in the world? Yes that does sound step for postage
Hey Craig niceone bud they are a good heater and I want everyone that buys one to pay the cheapest price 👍
You need to

Ah yeh 👍
I wouldn't be leaving the 2 batteries in parallel constantly like that, your going to damage your expensive batteries.
Hey bud there is actually Milwaukee tools that take 2 batteries is parallel so I’m sure it’s safe
