Over 45 years and many synth songs through the decades later I truly believe this is the pioneer of all that music. It still sounds so fresh today.
I was 7 in 1977 and having a major existential crisis (I had just learned that we die and did not take it well). This song brings back that fear, as it has an eerie, lonely sound - but by God do I love it. It transcends time and space.

Couldn't agree more. Would have been a perfect way to remind the world of his pioneering genius as one of the founding fathers of synth. Made a huge impact upon me, along with Kraftwerk, when I first heard it as a teenager in the late 1970s
It was my huge question too! He is in amazing shape being 70 plus yo and making the great shows. Probably some classic french personal clashes were behind his absence.
I grew up with Jarre, Vangelis,…. Wonderful time, wonderful moments….The synthesizer period in my life….Wish I could turn the clock back…… The days of past, present and future….

So good both of them, the gods of synth really, think that is a way to use a keyboard never seen before, hope they don't die forever, i still listen to them but i only know my dad listens to them, hope more people could appreciate this masterpieces
Genius in every electronic pulse. JMJ used electronic instruments in a truly symphonic, classical way. The soundscapes he created are on a par with some of the greatest composers of all time in my opinion.
Sparkles of sweet tunes combined with dewy bright coldness and spaciness (so characteristic of electronic music); dancing, enticingly beautiful riffs; variance and unique style (although, if one may: lacking tinges of feistiness and drollness) - an close approximation to sublime music.
I met him on Wednesday at a Q&A and he signed my dad's 40yo copy of Oxygene on vinyl... I am still beaming. Was visibly shaking, how embarrassing. He shook my hand and everything!
Jean was & still is not only a great musician but, a great technical engineer when it comes to creating the sounds for his music. This track just proves the point of his genius.
Timeless... it will still be known still in 100 years... And even if someone doesn't know JMJ or the track by name, they have it heard anywhere in their life.
Music will always be changing what you don't like this generation will change and shift to something new, that's the beauty of it, while it would be nice to hear more songs like this, it could always happen again when tastes change

For residents of the former Soviet Union, this music embodies progress, science, technology, space exploration and the achievements of socialism. This music makes us nostalgic for what didn't happen...
@@chilenoHDU The USSR is the first country in the world to have a new type of economy. This economy showed high growth rates and ensured social equality and equality of all nationalities, which has never been on earth. Of course, business owners all over the world could not look calmly at this state of affairs, and therefore other countries organized the Cold war, in which the USSR had to defend its achievements and spend huge amounts of money on defense. but alas, the rest of the world turned out to be stronger.
This music simply astonishes me today as it did when I was a kid. It reminds me of not only how much I enjoyed listening to it in my grandfather's turntable, but also how thrilled I used to get when this song played in Mega Drive's game, Road Rash, which I loved to play.
Thanks for sharing lucas, I like reading comments of history people have with certain songs. Would of been mindblowing to hear music like this on a turntable years ago
I may be a youngen, but I remember hearing this in 1999 on a claw machine in Matlock Bath, UK down by the arcades.. I remember being so fascinated by the sound and imagined ufos and the mysteries away from our world! What is crazy to me is that exact same claw machine is still there to this day! I went the other month with my Fiancé and I sorta had a lump in my throat when I played it.. as I played as a kid! love it ❤
I remember hearing this song from one of those claw machines as a kid too. It was also playing in the background of a video of me as a baby and my dad holding me flying me around in the air like I was flying. Nostalgic. Tear in my eye as I write this.
I remember when I was young, we heard this strange and impressive tune on the French radio sometimes, and the whole family was impressed... The very next Christmas we found the Equinoxe LP under the Christmas tree, and we spent hours and days listening to it, travelling among planets... And this was the start of a never ending musical trip...
From a time when life was not so strressful and " advanced ". Sure all era's have thier tribulations... but this JMJ era was a beautiful yet simpler time that I dearly miss.
My Peugeot 106 motorroller, my first French red wine on a trip to France, and the smell of a (very) hot amplifier from the early eighties, during playing a LP from JM Jarre... That was my feeling, that time.......
The sort of music that can transcend time, languages cultures and in my opinion.... planets. A universably audibly aesthetic masterpiece and a stunning piece of art
I discovered this song for the first time playing GTA4, almost ten years back Ever since then I discovered Spotify and have heard thousands of artists across the entire musical spectrum, visited tons of concerts and met artists, made new friends and connections. All thanks to JMJ. Eternally grateful.

This is the most iconic movement of the whole piece. I heard this in 79 when I was nine years old, and riding my new BMX bike around town with some boys my mother didnt approve of ...

You get the chance to see the maestro in concert you'll be blown away. Unbelievable atmosphere🎉
the father of Jean Michel made the music of movie "Lawrence of Arabia"
He and Kraftwerk!
And Vangelis
Why has JMJ not been involved in the Paris Olympics?
Musical and visual genius right there.
I'm stunned.
What is story behind every Jean's melody? As a fun you should know, wright.
He’s not queer enough.
Macron a préféré Akamoura 🤐
I grew up with Jarre, Vangelis,…. Wonderful time, wonderful moments….The synthesizer period in my life….Wish I could turn the clock back…… The days of past, present and future….
If only we could keep it in the heart
We have the same musical influences, It is a shame that when you talk of electronic music to young generations you only hear about party stuff.
Though the result of new and old is in our music. It could be great if you can give it a try

One of the most recognisable tunes ever created. You may not of bought his music or even know, who Jean Michel Jarre is but you remember, the music...
I first heard this on GTA 4 and in the arcades as that’s what the claw machines play when you use them 😂
Can hear the outro music to _Blade Runner_ in this as well

Jean-Michel Jarre is a genius. Any man who can control a large Moog system gets my vote.
Not only that, but the music is absolutely fantastic too. And he created this masterpiece at 19(?). I can't comprehend that.
Giorgio Moroder.... Chase, for example.
Na 100 % súhlasím. S každým slovom. Presne toto cítim aj ja. Pozdravujem z Bratislavy, Slovakia.
Genius in every electronic pulse. JMJ used electronic instruments in a truly symphonic, classical way. The soundscapes he created are on a par with some of the greatest composers of all time in my opinion.
Amen to that brother. Amen to that.
Sparkles of sweet tunes combined with dewy bright coldness and spaciness (so characteristic of electronic music); dancing, enticingly beautiful riffs; variance and unique style (although, if one may: lacking tinges of feistiness and drollness) - an close approximation to sublime music.
After 26 years of being a fan I finally have tickets to see him in concert! So excited!
I met him on Wednesday at a Q&A and he signed my dad's 40yo copy of Oxygene on vinyl... I am still beaming. Was visibly shaking, how embarrassing. He shook my hand and everything!

2023-51=1972 It's impossible this music was released in 1976. Song = singing

‘Achievements’ of Socialism? 😂😂
@@CalTheKiwi1plenty
@@chilenoHDU The USSR is the first country in the world to have a new type of economy. This economy showed high growth rates and ensured social equality and equality of all nationalities, which has never been on earth. Of course, business owners all over the world could not look calmly at this state of affairs, and therefore other countries organized the Cold war, in which the USSR had to defend its achievements and spend huge amounts of money on defense. but alas, the rest of the world turned out to be stronger.

And this was the start of a never ending musical trip...
