So here’s a thought for your. Thanks to MK11’s story mode, we now know that there have been multiple past timelines. My thought is that every death and every ladder ending is canon, but it’s set in a different timeline. It would explain why voice actors are switch out or why characters change their looks in between games. But why stop there? This could mean the cheesy live action movies from the 90’s are also canon? What about the most recent movie?
The Lei Mei in the Netherrealm might be an illusion. It was revealed after the Netherrealm chapter that Shinnok wasn't in any real danger and the warriors Raven faced wasn't real.

On Li Mei - her Deception bio actually explained it. Her soul was placed into one of the warriors from the Dragon King's army, but then Shang Tsung died, she came back and felt that something about her has changed. So basically she was under the not-quite-mind-control when she did all of that stuff in her Deception ending.
If I remember correctly, in Armageddon, Shinnok and Daegon were testing Taven secretly by having him fight apparitions of different characters (Kintaro, Sheeva, etc.) and I thought Li Mei was one of them. It wouldn't make sense for Shinnok to be so easily overpowered by Li Mei, and it makes more sense for her to be an apparition as Taven doesn't know those fighters nor does he know of Shinnok's corruption.
Lei mei and hotaru did not die until the battle of Armageddon. The characters arcade endings are “what if’s” not canon overall. When you fight “Lei Mei” and “Havik” in the Netherealm as Taven- it was explained by Shinnok to Daegon that they were apparitions created to test Taven
Remember when it was revealed that clearing out Shinnok's Spire was all but a series of tests for both Taven and Daegon? I think Li Mei was just the first test and it's more like a fake one made for the test. Why her, idk? It makes just as much sense some characters showing up in the Konquest like Fujin or Reptile or Drahmin... meaning it doesn't make much sense to begin with.

I forgot about adding Havik. Havik is said to be dead in the MKX comics but in Aftermath he is referenced to be alive. Did he die and come back or was the death not canon? We have no idea.

A messy thing about the comics is that it’s no longer canon. It was used to help build up MK X but was announced non canon several months ago. That puts a massive wrench in continuity because there are references in both MK X and 11 but the big thing is that Havik is a wild card. I don’t know if he can legitimately die or just get pieced back together.

yeah plus li mei shows up on the side of light in the battle of armageddon and dies first (hilariously dies first) so why would she be on the side of light if she did betray the heroes in deception to side with onaga at the end and die and sent to hell like it doesn’t make sense so yeah li mei never died until armageddon
It’s going to be very obvious and mostly consistent for every person barring crazy Mileena and Ermac fans. It’s easily (not ordered) Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Liu Kang, Raiden, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, Shang Tsing, Kung Lao, Goro, and either Reptile or Noob. I’ll go with Reptile because he’s the OG secret character and was there before Noob was, although I like Noob much more

I believe he used a clone and remained hidden empowering himself with the souls of the fallen. If I'm correct I remember when the deadly alliance used her soul to resurrect one of the soldiers while the others (Earthrealmers) were killed off and resurrected as Onagas "Soldiers" rather than their souls being in one of the soldiers from his own army (Seen in Ermacs MKD Ending, Li Me I wasn't shown as one of them when being released of control by Liu Kangs Spirit)
Which has been stated numerous times even by a developer from Twitter that the krypt is non canon and should not be taken seriously especially when there’s multiple obvious hints that the krypt is just for fun.
MK11 intro dialogues are always to be taken with a grain of salt. one of them is a convo between Dvorah and Kortal where Dvorah referenced once being lovers with Kortal

Only reason she was "long since gone" like Kotal Kahn said was probably because she was just hiding somewhere. In fact, her default costume reminds of something a wastelander would wear. All covered up so that she doesn't get dirt all over her, the goggles on her forehead so that she doesn't get sand in the eyes. That design looks like something straight out of Mad Max or something. So maybe Skarlet was alive all along only she was just somewhere deep in outworld hiding from society or something probably recovering from her battle or something. As for everyone else, I don't know.

I think you didn't understand the plot of MK Armageddon. Every character was brought back to life for the final battle. It doesn't matter who died at the end of MK Deception, as everyone was brought back one way or another. There are some exceptions, like Liu Kang, whose body and soul are still separate at the start of the events of Armageddon (so he's technically dead).
I recall later in that level Shinnok says to Daegon that Taven "defeated his apparitions with ease." during their attempt to reclaim Shinnok's spire. I think Li Mei, as well as Taven's fights with Havik, Sheeva, and Kintaro was just all an illusion to test the elder Son of Argus. Really no reason for any of those characters to be in the Netherrealm for any reason. 🤔
Li Mei didn't betray the heroes. For those who did not follow her tragic ending in Deadly Alliance. After winning the Mortal Kombat tournament "many people don't know that Li Mei was victorious in the MK tournament formed by Shang Tsung and Quan Chi". Insteas of granting Li Mei and her people freedom. Shang and Quan Chi transformed her people into soldiers for Onaga and even began doing so to Li Mei. While Bo Rai Cho managed to save Li Mei before her transformation was complete. The residual effects had already taken hold of Onaga. Which is why in her Deception ending Li Mei turns on the heroes for Onaga

Well kids; you see, when a Lei Mei and Onaga love each other VERY much a baby Goro is born. 😆 Anyway from what I gather they said that Shinnok created appricitions to test Taven and Daegon's skills. I think this Lei Mei in the Netherrealm is a fake; similar to the Shinnok that battles Raiden in Edenia during Armageddon while the REAL Shinnok remains in the Netherrealm. I think Ermac will come back somehow.
about skarlet, here in brazil the translation for that kotal speech is as if the three were in fact dead, "campeões da exoterra mortos a muito tempo" = "outworld champions long dead" in literal translation, so... stating that the dubbing is official, perhaps it is proof that skarlet was really dead
okay so ermac was unclear to all of us, but in Mk11 krypt, you have to do a certain thing to be able to open the green things (soul chests i think) and someone falls from the sky, if im not mistaken im pretty sure that was him, he got impaled and he is dead.
And what about the Mileena retcon? It’s said that Shao Kahn resurrected her after Kitana killing her in mk2, but in mk4 it’s Shinnok who resurrected her. Did she die again in mk3, or is it just a retcon?
Is there an explanation for why Scarlett isn't loyal to Mileena? She was super loyal to Shao Kahn I'd imagine she'd be loyal to his successor. It makes sense that Baraka would be and it makes sense that reptile would be against her but Scarlett was taken in by Shao Kahn and wasn't a slave like reptile right?
Kobra should come back cause his ending in decption shows that the match between him and Kira was a draw and they both fight the hero’s he should be back in the lineup along with order and chaos realms cause we barely hear about them and Havix is an agent of chaos so finding his way back from the dead wouldn’t be that hard since Quan chi is dead and he is never seen or referenced in the story mode hopfully we will get one last pack with fighters and a story expansion then we can wait for the first injustice 3 trailer
Ermac is the collective of the souls of fallen warriors from Edenia as a result of Shao Kahn's invasion. So technically those souls have all experienced a death.

I wanna know what happened to the revenants of Stryker and Smoke. They're no where to be seen in mk11's story or aftermath, Smoke's body and Stryker's hat appear in the krypt sometimes, but it's random, Nightwolf was apparently killed because "Raiden left no survivors", but that wasn't the case with Sindel or all the others in the story, and the one mention they each get by others can be taken as a reference to how they died and became revenants and are still hanging around just as easily as it could mean they died between games. And in Stryker's case he was mentioned by Robocop, so that automatically loses any potential canon meaning.
Thank you finally someone who asks where those two are like i don't think they didn't die i still think they are roming somewhere like for example shinnocks bone temple because we didn't see revenant nightwolf and sindel until aftermath so its possible smoke and stryker could both be in kombat pack 3 or if they do another story
My thoughts about the deaths: Ermac: I can imagine that Ermac could still be alive because of the Shang Tsung's age and intro. Since Kronika required Shang Tsung's crown in order to restore the timeline, is more likely that she did enlist him before he went throught the rejuvenation process in the MK 2 section of MK 9. When Ermac died in his MK X arcade ending, Shang Tsung's new body was young, and the Shang Tsung we see on Aftermath is old, BUT I can speculate that the body of Shang Tsung probably aged further than we see on Ermac's ending as well, and the after he aged back to his elder body, Kronika then could have come for him after that, next Shang would refuse Kronika's offer and finally got vanished into the void with Nightwolf and Fujin. So it's a 50/50 for me. Frost: Since Kronika literally gave Frost a completely new body different to the human one she previously had, it's more likely that Frost "died" the same way Cyrax did earlier in the Fire & Ice chapter when he disconnected himself and all the Cyber-Lin Kuei from the factory. Since Frost's anatomy shown in Brutalities or Fatalities is mostly human rather than robotical (compare her with other characters like the Terminator, Robocop or another Cyber-Lin Kuei warriors in the story mode scenes), it's more likely that Raiden killed her instead of knocking her out because if Frost was knocked out cold (no pun intended) it's really probable that the Cyber-Lin Kuei were still alive and kicking. Think of Frost's brain as an energy fountain. Shut it down completely and everthing dependant thing linked to it dies as well. Skarlett: There was a dialogue of Kitana and Skarlett when Skarlett mentioned that Mileena ripped off Skarlett's legs but then the blood mage says that Mileena failed to finish her since Skarlett got her legs back. I would likely go more for the theory that Skarlett regenerated her legs with blood magic. But the thing is that Skarlett could have learned about her future self's experience and how it ended, most likely thanks to Kronika, or Kollector. Li Mei: I'd say she probably survived Deception but later would die for sure in the Armaggedon battle, since there's actually no proof of her dying and consecutively coming back to life before Armaggedon. Kobra: He and Kira most likely survived in Armaggedon after Taven encountering them both. I'd go more for Armaggedon's events rather than Kira's arcade ending in Deception. Hotaru: This is a difficult one since both endings of Dairou and Kenshi mention Hotaru dying but it's not completely explained if he died or not after Deception. I'd probably say he mostly survived Deception to later fight in Armaggedon.
Ermac’s MKX ladder ending isn’t canon considering it had no involvement with the plot of MKX or MK11 and yeah Shang Tsung was taken from a period of time before his death and they make no reference to Ermac whatsoever. The simple answer is just like other characters that had no involvement with the story they were simply put aside because the writers couldn’t think of anything.

The thing is the devs said Shang Tsung was pulled from the past, and if he had stolen all of ermac's souls just to be younger, well he'd be young.
The ending alongside the intros revolving Ermac being “dead” isn’t canon since it doesn’t line up with Aftermath and the krypt isn’t canon either.
@@RazuX5 Oh yeah. They never explained why Shang Tsung came back. I think it was because Kronika got the Shang Tsung from the past before he died. Kind of like with Nightwolf.
Also, I never said anything about the krypt. I know the krypt isn't canon.
@@crashingblow3753 I only mentioned the krypt as a side note because people like bringing it up on arguments involving Ermac when there isn’t a clear answer when the only logical explanation is that the writers just simply skipped out on including him on anything because he’s not a playable character in the game.

I think you didn't understand the plot of MK Armageddon. Every character was brought back to life for the final battle. It doesn't matter who died at the end of MK Deception, as everyone was brought back one way or another. There are some exceptions, like Liu Kang, whose body and soul are still separate at the start of the events of Armageddon (so he's technically dead).
Entering the lower pits of the Krypt shows him fall on spikes, which seems to be how he died

I recall later in that level Shinnok says to Daegon that Taven "defeated his apparitions with ease." during their attempt to reclaim Shinnok's spire. I think Li Mei, as well as Taven's fights with Havik, Sheeva, and Kintaro was just all an illusion to test the elder Son of Argus. Really no reason for any of those characters to be in the Netherrealm for any reason. 🤔

Li Mei didn't betray the heroes. For those who did not follow her tragic ending in Deadly Alliance. After winning the Mortal Kombat tournament "many people don't know that Li Mei was victorious in the MK tournament formed by Shang Tsung and Quan Chi". Insteas of granting Li Mei and her people freedom. Shang and Quan Chi transformed her people into soldiers for Onaga and even began doing so to Li Mei. While Bo Rai Cho managed to save Li Mei before her transformation was complete. The residual effects had already taken hold of Onaga. Which is why in her Deception ending Li Mei turns on the heroes for Onaga

about skarlet, here in brazil the translation for that kotal speech is as if the three were in fact dead, "campeões da exoterra mortos a muito tempo" = "outworld champions long dead" in literal translation, so... stating that the dubbing is official, perhaps it is proof that skarlet was really dead

okay so ermac was unclear to all of us, but in Mk11 krypt, you have to do a certain thing to be able to open the green things (soul chests i think) and someone falls from the sky, if im not mistaken im pretty sure that was him, he got impaled and he is dead.

And what about the Mileena retcon? It’s said that Shao Kahn resurrected her after Kitana killing her in mk2, but in mk4 it’s Shinnok who resurrected her. Did she die again in mk3, or is it just a retcon?

Is there an explanation for why Scarlett isn't loyal to Mileena? She was super loyal to Shao Kahn I'd imagine she'd be loyal to his successor. It makes sense that Baraka would be and it makes sense that reptile would be against her but Scarlett was taken in by Shao Kahn and wasn't a slave like reptile right?

Kobra should come back cause his ending in decption shows that the match between him and Kira was a draw and they both fight the hero’s he should be back in the lineup along with order and chaos realms cause we barely hear about them and Havix is an agent of chaos so finding his way back from the dead wouldn’t be that hard since Quan chi is dead and he is never seen or referenced in the story mode hopfully we will get one last pack with fighters and a story expansion then we can wait for the first injustice 3 trailer
Ermac is the collective of the souls of fallen warriors from Edenia as a result of Shao Kahn's invasion. So technically those souls have all experienced a death.
What about Havik in the comics? There are several sources saying he didnt die, and hes said to be alive in Aftermath.

I wanna know what happened to the revenants of Stryker and Smoke. They're no where to be seen in mk11's story or aftermath, Smoke's body and Stryker's hat appear in the krypt sometimes, but it's random, Nightwolf was apparently killed because "Raiden left no survivors", but that wasn't the case with Sindel or all the others in the story, and the one mention they each get by others can be taken as a reference to how they died and became revenants and are still hanging around just as easily as it could mean they died between games. And in Stryker's case he was mentioned by Robocop, so that automatically loses any potential canon meaning.
Thank you finally someone who asks where those two are like i don't think they didn't die i still think they are roming somewhere like for example shinnocks bone temple because we didn't see revenant nightwolf and sindel until aftermath so its possible smoke and stryker could both be in kombat pack 3 or if they do another story

My thoughts about the deaths:
Ermac: I can imagine that Ermac could still be alive because of the Shang Tsung's age and intro. Since Kronika required Shang Tsung's crown in order to restore the timeline, is more likely that she did enlist him before he went throught the rejuvenation process in the MK 2 section of MK 9. When Ermac died in his MK X arcade ending, Shang Tsung's new body was young, and the Shang Tsung we see on Aftermath is old, BUT I can speculate that the body of Shang Tsung probably aged further than we see on Ermac's ending as well, and the after he aged back to his elder body, Kronika then could have come for him after that, next Shang would refuse Kronika's offer and finally got vanished into the void with Nightwolf and Fujin. So it's a 50/50 for me.
Frost: Since Kronika literally gave Frost a completely new body different to the human one she previously had, it's more likely that Frost "died" the same way Cyrax did earlier in the Fire & Ice chapter when he disconnected himself and all the Cyber-Lin Kuei from the factory. Since Frost's anatomy shown in Brutalities or Fatalities is mostly human rather than robotical (compare her with other characters like the Terminator, Robocop or another Cyber-Lin Kuei warriors in the story mode scenes), it's more likely that Raiden killed her instead of knocking her out because if Frost was knocked out cold (no pun intended) it's really probable that the Cyber-Lin Kuei were still alive and kicking. Think of Frost's brain as an energy fountain. Shut it down completely and everthing dependant thing linked to it dies as well.
Skarlett: There was a dialogue of Kitana and Skarlett when Skarlett mentioned that Mileena ripped off Skarlett's legs but then the blood mage says that Mileena failed to finish her since Skarlett got her legs back. I would likely go more for the theory that Skarlett regenerated her legs with blood magic. But the thing is that Skarlett could have learned about her future self's experience and how it ended, most likely thanks to Kronika, or Kollector.
Li Mei: I'd say she probably survived Deception but later would die for sure in the Armaggedon battle, since there's actually no proof of her dying and consecutively coming back to life before Armaggedon.
Kobra: He and Kira most likely survived in Armaggedon after Taven encountering them both. I'd go more for Armaggedon's events rather than Kira's arcade ending in Deception.
Hotaru: This is a difficult one since both endings of Dairou and Kenshi mention Hotaru dying but it's not completely explained if he died or not after Deception. I'd probably say he mostly survived Deception to later fight in Armaggedon.
Ermac’s MKX ladder ending isn’t canon considering it had no involvement with the plot of MKX or MK11 and yeah Shang Tsung was taken from a period of time before his death and they make no reference to Ermac whatsoever. The simple answer is just like other characters that had no involvement with the story they were simply put aside because the writers couldn’t think of anything.
