      yeah, its economocally viable option, i believe its not worth it to buy a new cable and screen for that laptop bcz its a low range cheap laptop, the processor probably a celeron n3050 with 1.6ghz or slightly better, it will even struggle playing high quality videos, i got a similar laptop from the dumpster(with celeron 2840), broken screen, no HDD, no ram, i though i will extract pwm chip to try to save my other dead laptop, but its turn out the power button was broken, so i just used my old screen+ram and i soldered a button from a broken mouse to replace the bad button, its look funny and dodgy but its work and its 100% free 😆

      @@Steakbroetchen that's a 2015-2016 model i think, so not quite 10 years old. Anyway, I'm sure Sorin meant cheap because it all looks like cheap plastic and the screen is bent like that, which shouldn't happen on a well made machine. HP pavilions have always been a bit bottom of the barrel when it comes to build quality, but you'd expect the envy to be better

    Deeeeeep down inside, I agree 100%. The screen isn’t broken, so why replace it? And any soldered connection is 100x better than the best connector ever made. It’s not like this will have to ever be unplugged unless the screen dies and when that time comes, the new cable won’t add anything significant to the parts bill, imo. I wish there were more people that actually repair vs. loading the parts cannon. Or worse, decide it’s “economically” not worth fixing and creating a mich bigger problem. I applaud you! 👏

    @inphu510n ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That was... comedy and drama and horror mixed with honest wisdom about the decisions that are necessary some times. Everyone knows they'd prefer to just replace the screen and connector and be done but as you said, it wouldn't have gotten the device fixed and the customer happy. You've done a very sketchy thing but it works and will continue to work.

  • @whitenoise2007
    @whitenoise2007 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well, it all depends on the prices from each country. A laptop like that, used, in Romania is about 150-170£. A repair like that is around 50£, but a new display + ribbon is around 80-90£. So here, mostly, client would buy screend+ ribbon, because he will get 2years of warranty.

It looked so similar to the last video I almost thought I was making a mistake and rewatching the first. Why do they send two wires with the same voltage? is it redundancy? I'm just trying to understand why you say you could solder one or both. Anyway, I am now a fan so I will continue to watch your videos. Thanks!
