Okay at this point my uploads are so few and far between that you can be pretty damn sure that when I upload something, I’m probably an emotional mess about it. Those two kinda came out of nowhere and stole my heart right away. Also THE GAME ITSELF OMG. It turned out to be the game I loved the most this year and I’m just??? I wasn’t even looking forward to it, though, tbh I wasn’t looking forward to any game but Greedfall this year, but I did play most of the hyped new games. BD-1 is the cutest droid ever, Merrin’s and Trilla’s stories are heartbreaking and Cal is the purest cinnamon roll of video games except for maybe deviant Connor. I have so many feelings about all this, I legit didn’t think I’ll feel this strongly about anything or anyone in something related to SW (yes, even Poe or Damerey).
And Merrin and Cal are just WOW. They’re so awkward around each other, it’s just so pure. The way he looks at her is just… wow. I really need a DLC or Fallen Order 2 and I need them to be happy (preferably together), they deserve all the happiness in the galaxy after what they’ve been through.

Yes. One of the things that saddened me about Fallen Order is that she's great, but all she does is chill out at the ship.😄 I was thinking they could have made her a partner that explores with Cal (after the story is over), or be some kind of ruler on Dathomire that could provide safe points/neutrality on the planet.🤔🤔 But I get how that would take ages to program into the game. Maybe we'll see in part 2.😊😊

Why this romance wouldn't work:
Romances for Jedi can be... difficult. Jaro Tapal seemed like a by-the-book Jedi, strictly adhering to the Jedi Code. Assuming that Cal still strictly follows the Code, Cal and Merrin wouldn't work because the Jedi Code strictly forbids that type of emotional attachment.
Nightsisters are drawn to the Dark Side of the Force. Their magic comes from that connection to it and to Dathomir, which is very strong in the Dark Side. Jedi are drawn to the light. Their fundamental natures and understanding of the Force are completely different. A romance between Light and Dark would be entirely uncharted territory.
Cal and Merrin are both very damaged people. They've each survived the loss of their entire culture and found common ground in that. Despite the healing process beginning, they still each have a long way to go on that journey. It'd be easy to crave belonging in the other, even if it's mutually destructive.
Why this romance would work:
Merrin and Cal compliment each other nicely. She's cold and closed off, he's warm and open.
Cal and Merrin have each had an experience that has challenged everything they once thought they knew and believed in. Cal's experience with Cere, someone who has brushed the Dark Side yet not turned to it, has changed his perspective on it (at least a little bit). Order 66 has also altered his worldview.
Merrin was told by Malicos for many years that the Jedi were responsible for the destruction of the Nightsisters. It's only after she meets Cal, a *real* Jedi who hasn't fallen to the Dark Side, that that belief is challenged and eventually broken.
Merrin has shown affection for him, at least on some level. He's also shown it for her. If there is something there, it's in its beginning stages (at least at the time of Fallen Order). With time, there's no doubt in my mind that emotion would grow deeper.
"And of course, Cal, the Jedi, a fellow survivor who made an alliance with a Nightsister. Together they were the light and the dark. Cal, who was the star that illuminated Merrin's shadow... Over the last few years, Merrin saw something different in Cal almost every time she looked at him. Sometimes he was the hardened warrior leader of their crew, bent on vengeance. Other times, though he tried his best to hide it, Cal was the scared and lonely Jedi on the run... He was so *sweet.* It was kind of annoying."
