Buddy and I team up for fly hunts. Spiders, too. If a fly is in the room get rid of it before you go to bed or your dachshund will chase it all night long. Those awesome hunting instincts kick in and take over. I love to watch him on the hunt but not in the middle of the night! Words cannot convey how much respect I have for this sturdy little perfection of a working companion. He earns his keep with his heart and humor. And cuddles!
Dachshunds are natural born clowns. They are a great family dog. I raised miniature back and tan dachshunds for many years. They were very intelligent and entertaining little pets. We enjoyed them very much.
@@BJETNT I had one , for 14 years , if I get another Dach , this time no more sugar . Not like the last Dach , I had , he had to have some teeth pulled .Sorry but just dog food , for the next Dach I get , no more sweets .

I am with a girl that has a Chihuahua and normally I don't like them but this is an exceptionally cool one. She doesn't bark except when somebody's at the door she's very loving but still not as cute as my Stella Doo was. We're already discussing getting another wiener dog. My girl is the best she wants one too! Thanks again for the info and just being nice and putting a comment that's cool. Not everybody does that.
my ex wife has one.....I personally grew up with outside, rugged big dogs, muts.....I never got these weird little things.....BUT, over time, I've learnt to love this little sausage dog....I really do..they are beautiful dogs....he's not my dog, but he never leaves my side....so bloody loyal...they LOVE being with the family, I cannot stress this enough......and guys, they're great guard dogs, impeccable hearing and sense.
my wife had one when we met I had nothing but pitbulls my entire life.. all my pits have passed away but Swear this lil guy is my shadow and I'm beyond obsessed with his lil stubborn ass..
I grew up with one, I think he was a miniature black. I was a lonely single child so for a long time he was my only friend and brother, and I still miss him dearly. Rest in peace Snoopy ♡
Was in San Antonio 10 yrs ago this week when my husband spotted a mini doxie just roaming around the parking lot. The motel staff said she had been there for almost a week, she didn't belong to any guest and that they had been trying to catch her to help her out. She walked up to me while I had my other dog out for a walk, introduced herself and has been w/ us ever since. She chose who she wanted to go w/ and I felt honored that it was us. I knew life w/ her would be interesting when the first thing she did upon getting home w/ her was to jump up on a chair, onto the DR table and walk around it. She was checking out her surroundings from a higher vantage point. Like i said before, I knew then and there life w/ her was going to be very interesting. She has not let us down
@@wendybutler1681 Yeah I think it is cause that's the first dog I ever had that did that and I was surprised and my friend has one and when ever I go over there and sit on the couch his dog will get up there and lean against me like he wants me to put my arms around him. I've never seen any other dog do that.
The best dogs! Each one so unique but many similar mannerisms. I have a 10 lb miniature dachshund and he is hilarious. Always doing something funny and he knows it. He’s brought more joy to my life than any animal I’ve ever had. I love dachshunds!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Daschunds are angels. Never a dull moment with my little one around. He's our first paw baby and we love him to the moon and back. He's the sweetest. ❤️
We just lost our beloved Professor Plum chihuahua/dachshund mix day before Thanksgiving. It has been tough especially for my boys. I have 2 teenagers and they both miss the boy terribly but also having a dog in genetal. Happened to look at Humane Society nearby and there is the cutest lite Dox there and after meeting him he is a doll. I placed a hold on him so I can get the things we need to bring him home. We have a big staircase I need to block off, clean the crate, etc. Hes an anxious little guy (16 pounds) and very scared, but he got dropped off at the shelter then they gave him shots, did all the tests, poked him for an IV and pulled 4 teeth so he has had a traumatic last few days. He lived with one family for 8 years and as a result of -an international move they cant keep him. Ugh. I hate that, but it does mean we get to love Little Louie now. So excited. Doesn't take away the pain of the loss, but it certainly does allow my heart to love again when you know another animal needs a home. Too many pets in shelters and foster homes looking for the forever homes.
I have 4 Miniature Dachshunds. Red, smooth hair. As I’m watching this video momma crawled over my shoulder to watch with me! Every morning between 6:30 to 7:00 the eldest girl lays across my chest and starts pushing my nose or lips to wake up. She’s started talking to me now when I act like I don’t see her! I love my little people!!!!
Please don't make you're dachshund jump more than they have to it's bad for their backs also chocolate is really bad for dogs and some cases could kill them
Seriously. Let them run, run, run... on flat surfaces. As puppies, they'll be fine, but it's best to set a behavior standard when they're young. Get your pet steps and teach them jumping is not the way to go. Oh, and... Weiners rule!
Agreed. I watched about 20 seconds of this and that was I could stand. I don’t find teasing a dog with food or watching one struggle to climb a piece of furniture funny.
But they are pe degree dogs and of different colour and body type One is black and tan and is of a medium built and one is ginger and of a large built.

The dachshund we had before he passed also did back flips while catching his favorite toy his pimple ball. He took it everywhere he went. When he ate, had water, bed, resting, literally everywhere. He was our baby boy. He was a standard full size one. We miss him.
Most people forget that the dachshund is a genuine hunting dog that will disappear into rabbit, fox and badger burrows if you are not careful. The dachshund is used to hunting independently. That's why his training is a bit more complex than that of other dog breeds, but I love this really robust dog. He's not a toy, he wants to be taken seriously. In my family there has been a tradition for generations that at least one of us becomes a forester. A forester needs at least one dog and for hunting small game there is no better dog than the dachshund.

My Buddy found me late in my life. I missed out not realizing how much fun the smart little sweetheart generates just by being there. What a goofy, happy dog! I HIGHLY recommend!
I love me some doxies!!! Also for people getting upset about the chocolate cookie thing, I’m pretty sure it’s just a dog biscuit that’s made to look like it has chocolate frosting. You’ll see tons of dog treats (and some companies that make dog cakes) that have fake versions of a sweet on it that’s actually something safe for dogs to consume. The horrors of feeding a dog actual chocolate are pretty common knowledge, so I doubt someone would do that to their dog.
When I was aa kid we used to raise these little guys. We never used cages or anything. They juist ran around the house. Litter after litter. Lol. The most adorable babies I've ever known. We kept two of them.Scooter and Coco.

Great video! I have 3 daschunds...Jango, Chewie & Vader. We lost Jade (our only girl) December 2, 2022. She lived a good life, lived to be almost 17 years old. Now we have the 3 boys

If there is a Dachshund in your house he or she owns you, not viceversa. We have 3 with 3 completely different personalities. We love all of them and would not have another breed!
Anything and everything soft, squishy and made of fabric can and will be used as a chew toy and confiscated. Besides shirts.. that's just used to make the legendary shirt dog.
Don’t forget to keep things like salmon on your plate away from them dachshunds love fish and it once happened with my mum the dog ended up eating all of the fish in the salad.

A lot of personality in a little package. If you're after a pet who will show you lots of love and make you laugh, this is the pet for you. 👍 Ps. Make sure you have a spot where he/she can climb up to get a good view of everything. It's a small dog thing. 😉
I lost mine of 16 years in 2012. I was way too attached to him. I still think of and miss him to this day. He was such a unique dog with so much personality. I don't think there will ever be another like him. :( Sorry for your loss.
Their focus is so intense--I say I could glue bits of cheese to my eyeballs and he wouldn't even see me--just those bits of cheese! Oh, my, how I adore my Buddy!
Giving a human cookie to a dog who gets about 2/3rds of a cup of dog food a day is a bad idea. Never chocolate or grapes in any form--highly toxic. Knew about chocolate but the grapes was a new one for me--science doesn't know why but it's been known for centuries that grapes are bad for dogs. Who knew?!?
For such a small dog, chocolate is much more of an issue. I have a Chow. Lab, Blue healer mix rescue He have a Dunking chocolate munchkin every now and then. Some chocolate ice cream with me etc with NO reactions ever since puppyhood. He wouldn't eat a grape if you shoved it down his throat, so no problem there . He's with me 24/7. Me wife has to sleep in the guest room because he won't let her in her side of the bed. He rides with me innthe fire trucks and rescue vehicles and is a member of the department. Maybe YOU can tell me. When you own a dog,,..... just WHO is the pet, and WHO is the owner ?
Bud had me trained in no time! Does that help answer your question? Bud's had grapes and chocolate Sister fed him 2 grapes--cost me $300+ to find out he was ok Chocolate was my fault. Very careful about what he eats. My sister, not so much--said she forgot. She's even told the grandchild to not let any grapes go rogue because they're toxic to the Budster. But she forgot. Hasn't offered to pay the vet bill, either. As long as my Budlee is ok I'm happy.
I'm allergic to non-wool dogs, I'm at work most of the time, and I live alone so it's a bad idea to get one, but one day I will, because I'm obsessed with their cuteness and everything about them. Alas.
I had two cute little guys. I got both at same time, I loved them dearly. But had to give them up. They went to wonderful forever homes. I work alot of hours, and very busy. So I loved them but did not replace them.

I've had seven dogs of this breed thru out my life. And loved every minute of it
When I was aa kid we used to raise these little guys. We never used cages or anything. They juist ran around the house. Litter after litter. Lol. The most adorable babies I've ever known. We kept two of them.Scooter and Coco.

Great video! I have 3 daschunds...Jango, Chewie & Vader. We lost Jade (our only girl) December 2, 2022. She lived a good life, lived to be almost 17 years old. Now we have the 3 boys

Don’t forget to keep things like salmon on your plate away from them dachshunds love fish and it once happened with my mum the dog ended up eating all of the fish in the salad.
Dachshunds are very social and require companionship. Dont own one if you're just going to ignore it all day

They also make good guard dogs you're very unlikely to be caught off guard with one and though sure as heck do their best to hold off somebody

I lost mine of 16 years in 2012. I was way too attached to him. I still think of and miss him to this day. He was such a unique dog with so much personality. I don't think there will ever be another like him. :( Sorry for your loss.

Giving a human cookie to a dog who gets about 2/3rds of a cup of dog food a day is a bad idea. Never chocolate or grapes in any form--highly toxic. Knew about chocolate but the grapes was a new one for me--science doesn't know why but it's been known for centuries that grapes are bad for dogs. Who knew?!?
For such a small dog, chocolate is much more of an issue.

He have a Dunking chocolate munchkin every now and then. Some chocolate ice cream with me etc with NO reactions ever since puppyhood.
He wouldn't eat a grape if you shoved it down his throat, so no problem there . He's with me 24/7. Me wife has to sleep in the guest room because he won't let her in her side of the bed.
He rides with me innthe fire trucks and rescue vehicles and is a member of the department.

Bud had me trained in no time! Does that help answer your question? Bud's had grapes and chocolate Sister fed him 2 grapes--cost me $300+ to find out he was ok Chocolate was my fault. Very careful about what he eats. My sister, not so much--said she forgot. She's even told the grandchild to not let any grapes go rogue because they're toxic to the Budster. But she forgot. Hasn't offered to pay the vet bill, either. As long as my Budlee is ok I'm happy.

I had two cute little guys. I got both at same time, I loved them dearly. But had to give them up. They went to wonderful forever homes. I work alot of hours, and very busy. So I loved them but did not replace them.
