Re: the torsion of the false folds, there's actually an Italian band (I forget the name unfortunately) whose vocalist is also a phonetician, and he made at least one laryngoscope video of himself doing a one-take of one of their songs. I remember stumbling across it just after the Operation Throat Cam video, and his false folds remained straight. Same, I saw them in November of 2022 in Cleveland and they opened with this. I love that they played To The Hellfire 3rd and closed with the PR Trilogy. They played the whole AIRTN ep all in a row and also played Immortal. Amazing show
Yes forsure and I love the way he says “Frozen” in the third breakdown also. That second syllable sounds like it comes from his very soul it’s crazy how powerful it is
Great video !! you should check out soulless existence, there’s not a single breakdown in it, and it’s by far my favorite song from them. The end is just a pure masterpiece
God, Soulless Existence has got to be in my top 3 off the Pain Remains Album, up there with Sun//Eater and the trilogy itself (counting it as one song because why not)
Soulless Existence is amazing. I commented somewhere before that one could easily imagine that Soulless Existence is a "solo" song from Will, and he worked with the guys from Lorna Shore who provided instrumentals...to support Will's vocals. It's a duet from Adam and Will, and the guitar having equal prominence means that we don't get a bursty solo in a few snatched seconds as is more the norm. It's just fantastic songwriting, musicianship and arrangement. The chord progression and melody are some of the most amazing in any genre, never mind one this deep in metal; it's simply beautiful. It's currently vying for spot of favorite song, for me.
Soulless Existence is my favorite song they’ve ever done. That song (and the Pain Remains trilogy) are them at their most emotional and creative. Absolutely beautiful atmosphere and melodies. Love how melancholic and dramatic it is
A bit surprised but really pleased to see so many fans of ‘Soulless Existence.’ I’m one of them myself, and I couldn’t believe it when I saw that this song is one of the least played on the album
Will's vocals on this are obviously incredible, and these analysis videos are super helpful, so I'm happy to see another one of these, but I'm also glad you were honest about the song being a bit tired towards the end. I did a written "review" as I listened to the album, and I remember noting that several of the additional breakdowns were a bit overkill and started to pull their respective songs down. That said, these guys obviously know what they're doing, considering their success, so I can't judge, haha
@@AgainstTheeWickedlyMusic I think the additional breakdowns work better for a live audience then they do when listening to a song on demand, same with the instrumental openings, I normally skip forward through them if i'm listening whilst I'm cooking or something. So I can understand how when listening to the songs a lot the additional breakdowns can begin to feel a bit much.
Hey @KardavoxAcademy I hoped, you would cover the sound Will does at 09:05 . It sounds to me like he uses a lot of his Sinus paranasale and a closed mouth. Damn that sounds soooo good.

Amazing content in this channel and I like how you explain the techniques used in order to achieve the differente types of scream. One thing I haven't seen from anyone on the web is the variations of the baselines of a false chord or fry. So basically what I mean, is when you explain how a screan or noise is created you are spot on the gesticulation, tongue placement y base line technique, but you never mentioned the technique on the base line that gives the proper tone, texture and compression to the output of the false chord itself before modifying in your mouth. This information would definetly help if we were to immitate the voice and not just make the right noise, in this case, Will's voice, and many of us may for example, make a gutural sound right, sound like it should, but never make it sound like Will's because the base line is different. At this point I'm not sure if some of us just can't achive the same sound or it's simply genetic. I appreciate what you do, I hope you read this and provide inputs. Regards,

Who gives a damn? We all need breaks. Sometimes I bounce from Metal to EDM to Rap/Hip Hop to Jazz and classical. Austin is a true beast of a man. Their whole crew is insane at what they do. Glad you're feeling better!
i think this song is the "lorna shore formular" in perfection. each and every aspects fit's for me - breakdown, rythm, chorus, melodics and harmonies, drums and solo and will's performance. not gonna say other songs are bad, but this one is stellar when it comes to "classic" Lorna Shore stuff. There are other songs on the album i really like too, those just dip into different waters - are more experimental (what i apprecciate by all means). so if i would've to recommend a song to someone who wants to know Lorna Shore it would be this one 100%
I'm actually not so surprised that you were "...pretty over it" by the end of the song because of how Lorna Shore decided to write this particular song. Moreover, I got the impression from watching your reactions to their music videos--and Will's one-take videos--that you overall became, shall we say, less enamored with each of their releases since hearing "To the Hellfire"? I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that you enjoyed that one the most, and certainly for good reason. I love that song, but I also know the band just answered "yes" to the question of how many breakdowns they wanted to use in that song. I agree to an extent that the breakdowns become less impactful the more often they use them in a song; that being said, there are certainly songs where there's really only one quick breakdown and they move on. I don't mind how Lorna Shore's music have become noticeably formulaic, but I certainly understand the position of those who are over it. I've seen people comment that apparently the band are going to change things up for the next album, and it's rumored that Will may even include some singing here and there. Granted, I haven't heard the whole pantheon of deathcore, but it's my understanding that Kyle Anderson was one of the first deathcore vocalists to include some singing (well, it's the chorus, really) in the band's song, "Exodus." I hope that Lorna Shore's new album will rekindle the Hellfire felt from that impactful music video. Regarding the question of whether the apparent lyrics that a choir sings in Lorna Shore's songs have any meaning, I think they definitely choose meaningful text for the lyrics. The Latin in this particular song doesn't sound like any liturgical text I'm familiar with (I sing a lot of Latin in the choirs I sing with), so I'm sure the text compliments the thematic elements of the English lyrics. I do wish Lorna Shore would include the Latin (and Greek; more on that in a moment!) text in the lyrics that are shown in the booklet and streaming services; I think it would be very cool to check out what they mean. So, as for the Greek text, one of the first things I noticed about their song, "Sun//Eater" was that they recorded a children's/youth choir sing the text "Kyrie Eleison," which as you may know is Greek for "Lord have mercy," and is used in the Mass Ordinary. Furthermore--and interestingly--the choir doesn't sing the followup sentence, "Christe Eleison," and I think you can make an accurate guess as to what that means. Rather, the kids sing "Domine," which is Latin for "Lord." I think that text is appropriate for the thematic elements of "Sun//Eater"'s lyrics, but I'll spare everyone my analysis of that. Lastly, I think Lorna Shore do hire choral singers to record for their songs; and I suspect this to be the case because the singers in the choir aren't always rhythmically aligned (so many words for "sloppy"); this is especially noticeable in the song, "Immortal." I hear the choir being a little rhythmically sloppy in "Welcome Back, O Sleeping Dreamer" as well. My guess is that no one was conducting them while they were recording--but, let's be real--singers tend to suck when it comes to rhythm. All in all, the rhythmic inconsistencies from the choir confirm to me that they're not digital. I'm glad you still enjoyed Will's vocals despite you not liking the breakdowns that ended up just being a part of the verses of the song. I really appreciate the lessons and analyses that you gave us, even though the song didn't do much for you as a whole. Thank you for your professionalism; it's one of the many reasons why I enjoy your videos and your takes and lessons. I look forward to your eventual analysis of a song by Disembodied Tyrant & Synestia. I think you'll enjoy it! I recommend "I, the Devourer." And any song from Disembodied Tyrant's EP "The Divine Stigmata" is also fantastic (though I think you'd probably enjoy "Reincarnation" the most from that). I think a reaction of a Van Canto song would also be fun for you; their cover of Metallica's "Battery" is especially cool, I think. Much love to you, Mark. Thank you for the great content!
honestly this is one the greatest openers for any album. the intro and outdo is so atmospheric, dark, gothic and simply sinister as fuck. it is just pure evil in the best way aside from Wills demonic vocals and harmonious symphonies in the background.
Who gives a damn :D Drummer's name is Austin Archey and I still believe 100% he's the best drummer in the world at this point. He crushes everything and makes it look so easy!
Honestly, I’d normally agree that three breakdowns like that in a song is a bit much. However, I think the last one is made impactful by the guitar solo divebomb transition. I think since you paused right before it hit that took away most of the oomph
iirc in an interview with Will he mentions that they wrote this song with the intention of it being fkn extreme and bombastic as it is the first song on the Pain Remains record and they wanted people to know what they were getting into. I feel like that answers why theres so many breakdowns in this one alone and although i absolutely love filthy ass breakdowns, having too many can be a detriment to a song. still sounds good just wont be as impactful as you say.
The more I've dug into Lorna Shore the more I've found that they are pecan pie for me. I'd be happy to have some, grateful if someone gave me a slice, and I'm able to enjoy when its well made and see the skill it takes. I even enjoy the flavor. But if its up to me, I'm always ordering Banana Cream........which is black tongue
they definitely leaned into the Black when they made this one, a lot of the time it's a mix or even leaning more towards Death, but this was not the case at all, very Black and Dark, love it.
If im remembering correctly, the band(or maybe it was just Will, i dont remember anymore) said that this song, as the opener of the album, was made to just get you in the mood. So i gwt why they have 3 breakdowns, but i actually do agree that its a bit much
I’m coming to the conclusion that deathcore is the hyperpop of the metal world. Insane sounds, inhuman voices, incredibly fast kick drums, just maximum intensity at all times.
i came here to say that i could not do the tongue thing, and i was so envious of others that could, i spent 3 years practicing for 20mins 2x a day and i can finally say that after years of consistent effort and determination that i am still unable to do it.
Totally just paused it in the middle of his Legendary BLEGH at the beginning and skipped past it, he could have talked about that for 5 mins lol. Probably my favorite part haha
Who gives a damn? The song is so good, though. They really crushed it with this album. Austin Archey is an absolute madman, machinegun rapid fire blasts for days. Thanks for the content as always, Mark!

Loved the video! Please please, check the band "Luck won't save you" They are NUTS! "Doom chimes are ringing" Would be a good pick. Also "So meaningless" or any song, they are all good! -will keep asking until its done
And who does the orchestration? no love? It's really big part of their composition. I don't even remember his name but he is rhythm guitarist. how does this affect my life, particular sonk. *I put this on every morning when walking to bus stop and there is "WAKE UP!" dude i'm trying 🙂
Based on Andrew's response on the Lorna Shore reddit, the choir is singing in Latin. I can't understand every word, so its not clear if relates to the song's meaning or not.
These latin choirs, I caught something like "Imperatus Dorime" or something. I guess that means something like "God's order", so it might be tied to the meaning of dreams n stuff 🤔

Sliding the tongue up and down ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Beyond Deviation Oni! Shocked his signature Whistle scream has not been covered here. Nothing out there like it.
Who gives a damn :D
Drummer's name is Austin Archey and I still believe 100% he's the best drummer in the world at this point. He crushes everything and makes it look so easy!
Aaaaye 100 points to the non-skipper! Also thanks for telling me who their insane drummer is!
You guys should check out el estepario Siberiano
28:38 He let it out! I knew he felt this way lol. I get it though.
Now that I have your attention kind sir. Do Darko-Shanghai and I’ll love you long time.
So far as the song being so over the top, it's the first one in the album so it's probably meant to be a statement.
They've said in interviews they just wanted this one be a straight "ass-beater".
Exactly what they stated
The ov sword and nail by worm shepherd. Unreal song
YESS SOME LORNA
Because of wills magnitude i slept on the drummer for a long time. Everyone in this band is a monster
they definitely leaned into the Black when they made this one, a lot of the time it's a mix or even leaning more towards Death, but this was not the case at all, very Black and Dark, love it.
Modern deathcore is, for sure. And it's easy to get into
i came here to say that i could not do the tongue thing, and i was so envious of others that could, i spent 3 years practicing for 20mins 2x a day and i can finally say that after years of consistent effort and determination that i am still unable to do it.
Welcome back o'sleeping bleeeghhhh dreamer 🤘
Austin Archey is probably the best drummer in deathcore, and has been for several years. Super underrated.
As someone who recently suffered a herniated disk as well, I fully understand why you've not been uploading, it's so debilitating
have you considered adding chapters to your videos?
Thats a nice ass hoodie
9:05 im 95% sure those are closed mouth screams
LETS GOOOO
Lorna Shore and Signs of the Swarm are the currently best over all deathcore bands in my opinion. As well as vocally, melodically and technical.
You should definitely check out the new Landmvrks single “The Creature”
Totally just paused it in the middle of his Legendary BLEGH at the beginning and skipped past it, he could have talked about that for 5 mins lol. Probably my favorite part haha
It hurt me physically 😂
Doesn't the final choir say (amongst other things i didn't get) the title? ".... .... welcome back o sleeping dreamer,"
Will is the G.O.A.T
Austin Archy is a beast he has playthrough with meinal cymbals it’s worth a watch reaction or not
Cool, I'll check it out!
Nearly slipped into the priest and Choir boy jokes, nice recovery 😉
Haha, thanks!
Who gives a damn? The song is so good, though. They really crushed it with this album. Austin Archey is an absolute madman, machinegun rapid fire blasts for days. Thanks for the content as always, Mark!
aaaaye you're a real one!
Nah that's you, man. Always providing insanely quality content. I may not be a vocalist myself, but it fascinates me to no end, so between you and Elizabeth, I've got no end of interesting information!@@KardavoxAcademy
This song give me some early Dimmu Borgir vibe... would love if Lorna and Dimmu did a collab... that would be a blast.
So, basically what I've learned from this video is..... will Ramos is basically a metal vocal gangster
Ok, who thought of down with the sickness at 22:16 😂
Haha, I definitely did when I was editing this later!
29:18 yep
Hahaha, “wasn’t very good at choir… i was just trying to- Nevermind that’s inappropriate” And now it’s practically your profession.. Lol classic
I'm pretty sure the choir part is old greek
Austin Archey.
Do sorroweater molvado please.
Loved the video!
Please please, check the band "Luck won't save you" They are NUTS! "Doom chimes are ringing" Would be a good pick. Also "So meaningless" or any song, they are all good!
-will keep asking until its done
Most of their videos don't even have a 100 views?
@@AssortedBits so what? 🤔
And who does the orchestration? no love? It's really big part of their composition. I don't even remember his name but he is rhythm guitarist. how does this affect my life, particular sonk. *I put this on every morning when walking to bus stop and there is "WAKE UP!" dude i'm trying 🙂
Austin Archey is drum god
Seems that way!
Based on Andrew's response on the Lorna Shore reddit, the choir is singing in Latin. I can't understand every word, so its not clear if relates to the song's meaning or not.
hell yeah some Lorna Shore we love to see this
These latin choirs, I caught something like "Imperatus Dorime" or something. I guess that means something like "God's order", so it might be tied to the meaning of dreams n stuff 🤔
Do Darko's new track, Shanghai!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Do a reaction to Goonlord. Their vocalist is a beast
Who gives a damn, but I’m glad you and the family got through all the sickness! Much love
Thanks!
